Introduction • •What is the wind tunnel? • A chamber through which air is forced at controlled velocities in order to study the effects of • aerodynamic flow around airfoils or scale models.

Description of Parts • The parts of a wind tunnel are • •a settling chamber to straighten the flow and control turbulence intensity. • •a contraction zone to takes a large volume of low-velocity air and reduces it to a small volume of high-velocity air without creating turbulence • •a test section where the test article and sensors are installed • •a diff to slow down the speed of airflow and a drive section to provide the force and pull air through the wind tunnel

Development Plan •Search existing educational wind tunnels in the market and compare their designs, capabilities and costs. •Design and construct a small cardboard prototype for finding potential manufacturing and assembly issues. •Search for available fan capacities and scale up the size of cardboard model accordingly. •Determine dimensions of each part of the wind tunnel and finish CAD drawing •Construct and assemble the wind tunnel with metal sheets, plexiglass and fiber glass structure enhancement, honeycombs and a fan. 


