PRELUDE
As Gabriel took his last and final ounce of willpower, he picked up his sword and struck down Hadriel. The heavens were in peace and the hells were in mayhem. The endless war finally ended and Gabriel got his final gift from God. Stripped from his powers Gabriel could live on with free will in the mortal realm and he never has to worry about the past he left behind. Nevertheless, the hells could not let the heavens win. Knowing that Gabriel is now powerless, they soon started planning a revolt against the heavens and without Gabriel, heaven shall fall. Years have ed since the war. Thousands of souls have been lost in what it seemed to be a never-ending battle. Their cries can still be heard through the lands and a feeling of death taints the air. Nightmares of blood haunt the souls of the living causing disaster in their very own selves. It has been years since Gabriel, the leader of the archangels and the most dominant angel defended the High Heavens.
Chapter 1 THE PAST
T he moon shines brightly in the sky as if it is on fire, radiating from behind the cold lifeless mist that shields it. Looking up at it is a young man, not a day older than nine. A sparkle in his eye shines as he stares into the brightness of the moon amazed by its unbelievable beauty. The boy then looks down onto the ground and whispers as he takes a breath. “From the gift of him, they shall be reborn.” The boy then looks back up and breaths heavily as if he is nervous. Clenching his fists, he uneasily turns his back on the beautiful sight and walks down the path. Walking back to town he knew he was in trouble. No one is permitted out further than the boundaries of town past a certain time, especially a kid such as him. However, the boy does not heed caution. He has always been told about a prophecy of how his friend and himself shall be the two great warriors that will one day be the ones to decide the outcome of the final battle. His friend Hadriel thought the prophecy was amazing. Hadriel loves the fact that he gets attention from everyone. However, unlike his friend, Gabriel hates the feeling that he too will get attention. In fact, the both of them are getting more attention than ever. Training every day, consistently looked at, and never a moments peace. When Gabriel finally got back into town, a voice was heard screaming. Gabriel rushed over and immediately dropped to his knees. His heart felt as heavy as a boulder; even in the cold night air, his body began to sweat. Hardly being able to breath, Gabriel got a word out that sounded more like a sobbing cat. “Mom, Please.” Gabriel’s father came running out. His father is the general of the Angelic army. He stood tall, proud, and never nervous. He looked down upon his wife and simply closed his eyes and a tear fell. Gabriel then looked at him. “Dad is she…” Before Gabriel could finish his sentence an explosion was heard and fire lit the sky. “Gabriel, get in the house!” His father ordered him to hide. Demons are terrorizing the great city of the high heavens. What once had sky high golden buildings, now had fire and brimstone. Gabriel’s father summoned the entire Angelic Army with one war cry and on they went. “Gabriel!” a little boys voice was heard through all the medal of swords
clashing. Out from the smoke came Hadriel, the best friend of Gabriel. “We have to get inside.” Gabriel kept staring at his mothers’ lifeless body. “Gabe.” Another shadow came from the smoke. This time it was not a friendly shape. A mongrel demon came rushing at the two boys. “Gabriel we have to run!” Hadriel crying out tried to drag Gabriel, but he couldn’t’t. “They killed my mother.” Gabriels’ eyes filled with a white cloudy color, almost as smoke filled his eyes waiting for the demon to get closer. “Revenge will be mine.” Gabriel started to charge towards the demon and in an instant heartbeat, Gabriel flipped over the mongrel. Gabriel then charged towards the demon dog again, but this time jumped on his back. Gabriel eyes intensified with the white smoke color as he grabbed the demons head. With all the power he had he twisted the mongrels’ neck until the demonic beast collapsed. “Gabriel. Can we please go inside now?” Hadriel took his friends hand and started walking towards the house door. A vibration in the ground was felt. When the two turned around, a massive grotesque demon was behind them. This demon resembled pieces of bodies woven together. Gabriel’s eyes lost the cloudy smoke coloring and nearly collapsed to the ground. “Gabriel!” As the demon started to slam his arm towards them, an entire horde of Angels came and took the beast down with ease. Out from behind the horde of Angels, Michael, Gabriel’s father, came out in front. “Gabriel. I told you to go inside! I can’t lose two of the most important people to me in the same night.” Michael picked Gabriel up and carried him inside. The army took Gabriel’s mother to the burial chambers. Years went by since the battle. Hadriel and Gabriel grew older and they found themselves becoming stronger than all the other angels around them. They can feel this surge of power flow through their veins as if they always have adrenaline in them. Over the years another battle started, Michael and Hadriels father, Demetrious, are never around while a war is going on. However, it was always harder on Hadriel than Gabriel. Hadriel never knew his mother; she died giving birth to him. Whenever their fathers went away to battle, he was always alone. Nevertheless, he says that being alone is what made him strong. Gabriel knew different. He could see every day that Hadriel is always in a tormented state when his father was not around. Over the years, the friends’ appearances changed greatly. Hadriel loves the black
sleek look of armor so much that he constantly wore it; it is as if the armor was fused to his skin. His hair is longer, more blonde and pushed back, skin was light along with fantastic muscle striations along with a scar on his left cheek that he acquired while training during sword combat. Gabriel’s appearance is considerably different. His armor is white with gold trimming, short dark hair, skin is a bit tanner and the only scars he has are the ones that he acquired when being reprimanded for disobeying orders. The only possessions that they have in common are their wings. Archangels’ wings are different from those of regular Angels. Their wings are rock-solid, colossal, and steel like wings. The only variance between their wings is that Hadriel constantly displays his and Gabriel barely ever does. Years ed and Gabriel met someone, Angela. She has long vibrant red hair and is the daughter of a soldier that is led by Gabriel’s father. She too is an Archangel; however, her exquisiteness and elegance presents her as being a comionate creature. “So Gabriel, it’s been what four years that you and Angela have been seeing each other and yet no ring? What’s that about man?” Hadriel jokingly said as they were training. “Ring? Oh, definitely soon but, not yet. Perhaps when my father returns.” Gabriel uneasily answers as his breath was almost gone. He wants to wed Angela, but it does not seem right unless his father is by him. “What are you hotshot boys up to?” Angela stands in front of the sun radiating her beauty towards them. “Hadriel, you wouldn’t be trying to hurt my little boy, would you?” Angela leaps into Gabriel arms and instantaneously starts to kiss him. “Awe how cute, she called you a little boy.” Hadriel left the two of them alone. Gabriel and Angela sit down and started to talk. Hadriel yells from the distance. “I’m going to go barf now!” Gabriel looks unamused by Hadriel antics. “So what do I owe to this surprise visit babe?” Angela glared into his eyes, leaped up, and did a twirl. “A little energetic are we?” “You see Gabriel, baby, love, darling! I got good news from my dad. The battle is over. They will be home by nightfall, just thought you would like to know
Gabriel.” Angela sat back beside Gabriel. “Uh, aren’t you thrilled? Did you not comprehend what I just said? ” Gabriel was beyond joyful and he knew that this was the moment. “Angela, I wanted to wait for my father to be home for this but, maybe this would be a good welcome home gift.” Gabriel then stood up and took Angela by the hand. Angela’s’ face turned red. Gabriel then took out a ring that belonged to his mother. “Angela, the moment I saw you, I thought you were the most sarcastic annoying person ever. You were beyond energetic and you always went for what you wanted. Somewhere down the line I realized that you are the most beautiful and caring person I have ever met and I have been in love with you ever since. Angela, will you be my wife?” Angela’s face was nothing but shocked. Her eyes are open wider than ever before and she had a smile on her face that she could not get rid of. “Eh, I don’t know babe. I mean this is a tough decision.” Angela starts walking away and an expression of heartbreak came upon Gabriel. Angela then stopped. “Do you honestly think I won’t marry you? I do Gabriel.” Gabriel stood up and just gave a blank glare. “Again, you’re the most annoying and sarcastic person.” Gabriel smiling took Angela, and kissed her during sunset. That night the army came home. Gabriel announced the news and a couple months later the two of them married. Throughout the months darkness struck Hadriel. The night of the wedding announcement, when the army came home, his father did not. Demetrious, Hadriels father, died in combat. Ever since then, Hadriel has an over flowing amount of strength. He uses the heart aches and pain from his father’s death to fuel himself to do whatever he wants. In training, it can show. Gabriel still refuses to go all out in case he hurts anyone and fighting is not something that he wants to do. Hadriel however, turns into a monstrosity. It is as if he has another side to him that turns him into a vicious beast. In a training session weeks after the wedding, Hadriel is one on one with another. The gaze in the eyes of Hadriel is cold as ice. It is as if he is looking into the person, rather than at him. The trainer starts the fight and without hesitation, Hadriel spreads his wings and thrusts his sword into his opponent. “Hadriel! What are you doing?” Gabriel jumped into the field and picked the fallen angel up. “Hadriel, you killed him!” Everyone starred and Hadriel stood
with a smirk. “He was frail. He would have never lasted defending the Heavens. I did all of us a courtesy.” Hadriel withdraws his sword and walks away. Angela starred as he walked away with tears flowing down her face. With a scared voice she spoke. “Hadriel, you are no angel. You are nothing like us!” Hadriel then looked at Gabriel and smirked. Then Gabriel saw Hadriel raise his hand and clos his fist. Angela then fell. “NO!” Gabriel faster than light went right to Angela and caught her before she hit the soil. Her lifeless body, being held in the arms of Gabriel is stiff as a piece of wood. Gabriel looked up at Hadriel as he vanished. Gabriel closed his eyes and unlike ever before, unlike any one ever saw, Gabriel roared and spread his wings and nothing, but wrath is in him. Three days later, Gabriel walks with Angela’s older brother. “Gabe, I can’t believe he did this.” Angela’s brother, Inarius, was in nothing, but emotional pain. “Gabe, you hear something?” A figure comes from the shadows down the path. “Crap, it’s my sister Dynamis. What are you doing out this late?” “I can’t sleep. I was hoping I could just spend some time with you two?” Dynamis has been terrified. She tagged along and stayed close to her brother and Gabriel. Gabriel hesitates. “Inarius, something is bizarre out here. I can sense something is wrong.” Out of nowhere, a gust arises and the three of them fly back. “It’s Hadriel! Dynamis, run back to town now!” Dynamis left to get help, Inarius and Gabriel stayed to fight Hadriel. “Hmm, so two verse one huh? Well, I guess that’s fair for you two.” Hadriel drew his sword and Inarius and Gabriel did as well. “Actually Gabe, I think you should stay out of this.” Mumbling something in Latin, Hadriel made sure that Gabriel cannot even move. “What did you do to him?” Furiously, Inarius charged after Hadriel who just simply moved. “Hadriel, how could you kill my sister?” Inarius took his sword and again dove at Hadriel. This time, Hadriel stood his ground and raised his hand. Inarius went up into the air. Up from the path, Dynamis returned with half of the angelic army.
“Brother! Hadriel please stop!” When Hadriel heard Dynamis and saw the angelic troops, he dropped Inarius. He then looks at the group and laughs. While laughing a wall of fire appeared not allowing them to . Hadriel raises Inarius again. “Brother!” Dynamis cries out, she falls to her knees begging for this to stop. “Say goodbye to your brother. Gabriel, hope you enjoy this.” Hadriel took his sword and slowly pushed it into Inarius’ chest. “Hadriel!” Gabriel roared. The group of people just watched and nothing could be done to help. “Fight me Hadriel!” Hadriel then took the spell off. Gabriel ran over to Inarius and there was nothing he could do. Gabriel once again stares into lifeless eyes. Gabriel stands up and extends his wings ready to fight. The two of them stare at each other and Gabriel makes the first move. As Gabriel flies into the sky, Hadriel puts his sword down and from his fist came a ball of pure cold-hearted darkness. He hurls it at Gabriel and it came faster than anything ever did. It strikes Gabriel and he comes crashing down. The group watched as they are seeing a sight that they could not have imagined. An angel is using demonic powers. Gabriel, barely able to get up, digs deeper than ever. It was now, where he finally felt a power that he never thought he had. Gabriel, right before Hadriel was going to kill him, yelled out and Hadriel went soaring. Gabriel stands up, cracks his neck, and stares at Hadriel. “It’s about time! I was waiting for you to find your power. So, how is that anger in you?” Hadriel mocks Gabriel as he spreads his wings that were now black as a moonless night and threw another ball at him. This time Gabriel dodges it and without knowing how, Gabriel points at Hadriel, making him crumble to the ground. Gabriel can feel Hadriels’ heart stopping. The power that Gabriel has found makes him even angrier, every second that went by he feels more and more sinful. Gabriel snaps out of the trance he seemed to be in. Still unable to breath, Hadriel vanishes. Years ed since that tragic event. Hadriel was not seen or even heard from. Gabriel took over his father’s command in the army due to his fathers’ death. Recently a rumor has started that a demonic force was seen over the lands. The last time this happened, it was a battle to take over. In the council room, the angelic counsel met. The room is massive with white
and blue marble all around. In the middle was a long rectangle table where the council sat. Nothing else was in the oversized room. “Gabriel, we must prepare. If the rumors are true, then we must be ready.” A council member pleads to Gabriel. All eyes turn to Gabriel from the council. “Gabriel?” “I agree. I’ll pre-.” Before Gabriel could finish screams were heard outside the council meeting area and smoke is filling the sky. The rumors are true. A battle is taking place and demonic creatures are raiding the streets. Angelic blood starts flooding the ground and nothing but the clashing of the blades could be heard in Gabriel’s ears. Gabriel then drew his sword and went into battle. One by one, he brought down the beasts. A massive shadow appeared in the sky. Dragons were in the High Heavens. “Dragons?”
~Dragons are mythical beasts of legend. Neither good nor evil. They serve only those with immense inner power. ~
The endless demon waves kept coming. Blood is already streaming down the brick golden roads of Heaven. “I don’t get it where is the leader.” Confused Gabriel spoke out. “You over there!” Calling out a member of the army. “I need you to fly as high as you can and find the leader!” “There is no point in that, old friend.” Out from the battle smoke, appeared a great winged being. Gabriel looked down on the ground and softly spoke. “Hadriel.” Gabriel gripped his sword tightly and gave a stone cold stare. “You’re commanding an entire demonic army.” “Well, you have the angelic army. It’s only fair I take the demonic one.” Hadriel looked upon the sky. “Aren’t they amazing Gabe? Dragons are such miraculous creatures.” Hadriel raises his arm to the side and a sword made of fiery flesh appeared in his hands. “One last dance, Gabriel.” The two old friends charged at one another. When their swords clashed, an immeasurable surge of energy exploded clearing the smoke from around them. The demonic horde and the angelic force watched as the two generals’ fight to
the death. Gabriel levitated off the ground just enough to gain speed. Using his wings, he charged towards Hadriel faster than light itself. For Hadriel he watched, time seemed to slow in his eyes and he never lost Gabriel for a second. Once when Gabriel went for the strike, Hadriel simply shifted to a side. “Not fast enough!” Hadriel instantly swung his sword and slit Gabriel’s back. “Hurts, doesn’t it Gabriel.” Gabriel falls to the ground. The wound is pulsating. “This sword was crafted in the deepest part of Hell. It’s unique. Crafted from bones of fallen demons and infused with the fire of the burning Hells.” Hadriel slammed his sword down at Gabriel. Gabriel quickly rolled and stood up. Hadriel went for another strike as Gabriel blocked. Back and forth the two of them fight. “Ah!” Gabriel falls again from the immense pain of the wound.” Slowly getting up, he stood proudly where he is. “Bring it.” Hadriel charges at Gabriel. Falling to his knees, Gabriel swung his marvelous angelic blade and slit Hadriels knees. Springing up from kneeling, Gabriel then came crashing down, impaling Hadriels shoulder with his sword. “I’m sorry old friend.” Gabriel pulled his sword out and went for the final blow. “This isn’t over yet.” Hadriel out of nowhere vanished. Gabriel looked all around, but could not find Hadriel. Out of the shadows he appeared. “Die!” Hadriel went to stab Gabriel in the back. “Not like that coward.” Gabriel quickly spun and drove his sword backwards into Hadriel. In a ball of fire, Hadriels body incinerated. Gabriel looks at the demonic horde. All the beasts snarl and roar as they disappeared into the shadows. An angel came up to Gabriel. “You ok my Lord?” Gabriel didn’t answer. Instead he drops his sword and walks away. Far on the outskirts of town, stood the same spot where Gabriel snuck out to as a child. Looking upon the beautiful moon and stars he speaks. “There’s nothing here for me. Everything has been taken from me. My wife, my family, and I just killed my oldest friend.” Gabriel starred in amazement as the moonlight made the stars sparkle. “I relinquish my celestial powers.” After speaking a cold breeze was felt.
“Gabriel. Do you know what you are doing?” A bright white light appears, blinding Gabriel. “Do you not know how important you are?” The being in white came closer. Gabriel stood straight and trembled as he speaks. “Ye-Yes.” Gabriel then drops to his knees. More forcefully this time. “I relinquish my celestial powers.” “Gabe. This isn’t the end. That I will warn you.” The being crossed his arms and a light, brighter than the morning dawn break lit the sky up. When the light faded off, Gabriel did also.
Chapter 2 NEW LIFE
T he clouds are heavy, giant bleached boulders in the sky. The air is musty and the sun is lifeless as it radiates the earth. The light gleams through a window, awakening a sleeping body. “Ugh, I really have to get blinds.” The young man sluggishly gets up and rubs his eyes, trying to make the fuzzy images somewhat concrete. “Five more minutes would be amazing.” Gabriel drops his head as if his neck couldn’t it back into the pillow. “Crap! I have to get to class.” He sprung swiftly as he could and found pants lying around. While walking and putting them on himself, he stumbled over and fell to the floor. “Maybe I should slow down.” When Gabriel stood up he sat on his bed and gently picked a photo up that was on his nightstand. In the picture was a father, mother and a daughter “Time to make you guys proud.” Gabriel continues to get ready. “Ok, so first day of classes.” Gabriel looks puzzled. “Where did I put my schedule?” Gabriel frantically looks all over. “Got it!” He started to read his schedule.
Congratulations NYU Aluminé! Class Schedule: Philosophy- M/W/Th- 830am-11am. General Psych- M/W- 12-2 Sexual Health- T/F- 4pm-6pm
“I cannot wait until Tuesdays, ha-ha.” Gabriel grabs his bag and leaves his apartment. Halfway down the hall he forgets to lock his apartment. “Dam.” As Gabriel walks back a neighbor of his stops him to say hi. “Gabriel! Good morning sunshine!” The neighbor smiles and waves as Gabriel nodded back. “Crazy lady I swear. Way to chipper.” After finally locking his apartment, he
decides to turn up the speed and jog towards the street where he calls for a taxi. “What’s up man, New York University? And um, go really fast.” The driver nodded and proceeded sarcastically slowly. “Great.” Staring at all the people scurrying around, Gabriel feels better he isn’t the only run late. After what it seemed like an eternity, Gabriel finally arrives on campus where he started to now sprint to class. “Whoa.” Gabriel stops running and starts talking to a pack of girls. “Are you ladies new also?” One girl looked Gabriel up and down. “Not bad looking. Good muscle tone but bad style in clothing.” Gabriel was not ready for that answer. “Sorry frosh, we don’t waste time on you.” “Well excuse me then. I guess you girls go after professors to get an ‘A’ then. Don’t come looking for me when he uses and then fails you.” Gabriel walks away as the girls just gave him a dirty look of disgust. He kept walking and finally found his class. “Ladies and Gentlemen let me introduce you to the late person of the first class of the semester.” The professor, Mr. Knight, is a plumped up corky looking man who is semi-bald. “Welcome to philosophy, please take a seat, if you can get there fast enough before I’m done teaching.” The professor then turned to the white board. “You sure I’m late?” Gabriel smirked. “Or is time, that mankind made, making you think I am late?” Gabriel then sat down. “By the look at the class roster you’re either Gabriel or a girl named Monica. I’m going to go with Gabriel. Might I add, well done on that remark? But, ask yourself this. By being a smartass, you think you will actually my class?” The class itself cackled and looked over at Gabriel. “Won’t happen again professor.” Gabriel then put his bag down and started listening. “Oh come now. That’s all you’re going to argue? This class is based on arguing and proving you are correct. I’ll ask the whole class. Class, if Gabriel continues to be a smart ass, will he ?” Gabriel waits and looks around. Relieved no one raised their hand; he caught from the corner of his eye a girl who had to answer. “Well professor, I’m going
to go with he will fail. As adults in college we have to logically think and be mature. A smartass isn’t exactly mature.” The girl didn’t even look at Gabriel. “Well, may I respond by saying, you are wrong.” The professor then wrote on the board.
Nothing is right, nothing is wrong. Theories only exist.
“Class, in the world of philosophy, nothing is black and white. If a tree falls, but no one is around, does it make a sound? Can you prove it does or does not? The grass is green. Why, because someone who isn’t even alive anymore said so? Thinking outside the box and arguing is what this class is about. Gabriel, I expect more arguing from you. Everyone else, stop thinking logically.” Gabriel smiles at the girl with a sense of accomplishment. First day of class and he already won an argument against a girl. As he tries to focus to the professor, Gabriel seems uneasy and unable to focus. He shakes his head and just listens. When class ended Gabriel had time to kill before the next one. He decides to go into the library and start looking some stuff over. To his surprise he spotted the girl that tried to embarrass him. She was gorgeous in his eyes. Not an inch over 5’ 7”, long blonde golden hair, athletic build and glasses that she probably wore just to get attention. “No way.” Gabriel spotted something that made her even better. She is the librarians’ assistant. “This is awesome. Not only is she a hot librarian, I totally won an argument in class against her.” Gabriel avoided her and started going to his next class. As he made his way to the door a sign was up.
Class will be cancelled until further notice.
“Seriously? First day and a class is not even in session anymore. Oh well.” Deciding to go back to the library he walked slowly enjoying the campus
grounds. The trees are beautiful and full of life. The only down side is all the sounds of the city poisoning the serene environment. “It’s gorgeous here, my family would be proud of me.” Arriving at the library, Gabriel decided to see the selection. As he walks a shelf he felt a slight chill in his bones that made him look around. As he did a book stood out to him. Good vs. Evil: A Power Battle. “What’s this?” Gabriel grabs the book and went to read it. Before he could realizes, he was already half way done with it. “What time is it?” He took out his phone. “6:45! I so got to get out of here.” Rushing out he forgot to put the book away. “Strange read for a campus freshman. The hot librarian assistant picked the book up to put away. When touched, she felt warmth from it. “This can’t be.” The young lady watched Gabriel from the window. “It can’t be.” The mysterious blonde continued to put the books away. When arriving outside, Gabriel felt uneasy. The dark emotionless air drives anxiety into his spine. “I have to get a taxi quickly.” Keeping his eye out, he couldn’t find one. “Seriously, this is New York, what’s going on.” Finally a taxi was seen. “Taxi!” The car pulled towards Gabriel. “81st and 9th please.” The driver pulled from the curb and started driving. Looking out the window, Gabriel starred into the sky. “Too bad you can’t see the stars in the city. You know what I’m saying man?” The taxi driver rolled his eyes in the rearview mirror. “81st and 9th.” The driver pulled over and let Gabriel out. As soon as Gabriel paid the fare, the driver peeled from the curb. Walking towards his apartment door, he did not even look around the block. He hurried right inside where he felt inner peace with the light. When at the elevator the doorman asked what floor. “The penthouse please.” The door man looked him up and down. “I said penthouse please.” The door man sent the elevator to the penthouse room and Gabriel tipped him rudely. “Buy some manners with that.” Gabriel entered his apartment and just by him entering all the lights came on with motion sensors. “Ok time to work out.” Gabriel changed into his workout attire and went to the part of his apartment that had nothing but a heavy bag and a weight machine. For more than an hour Gabriel worked out. Blasting rock music and boxing until his knuckles became raw. When he finished, he took his shirt off and went to the bathroom to shower. Sweat is pouring down his body filling every crevice of his
abs. Turning towards the shower his back was to the mirror. He starred a scare on his back that took up most of the middle by his spine. “I that day.” Gabriel pauses. “That back surgery had a horrible recovery period.” He took his pants off and went into the shower where he started to sing and bathe.
I like big butts and I cannot lie, You other brothers can’t deny!
After almost causing his ears to bleed, he finished up and exited the shower. Wrapping a towel around his waist he walked around his apartment allowing himself to air dry. Walking into his living room he powered up the T.V., everything in his apartment looks brand new. The shelves, couches, his bed, and even the lamps are all new. While flipping through the channels he noticed he left the blinds open. “Crap.” As he went to close the blinds he noticed a neighbor across the alley way looking over. “Hi, how’s it going? Just half naked here!” Gabriel closed the blinds. “Ok back to television.” Finally finding a channel to watch he relaxed on the couch.
Blow my whistle baby, whistle baby!
“No way. My phone is too far away.” Hearing the text tone go off Gabriel let it ring.
Blow my whistle baby, whistle baby!
“Ok fine I’ll get up.” Walking over he picked his phone up. “Whose number is this?” The text message read as follows.
Hey Gabriel, this is Aliza, the girl from your philosophy class and the assistant librarian at NYU. I got your number from the school computer. Figured I’d say hi. Text me back if you want.
“Hell yea girl! First day of classes and a girl is chasing me. Can I get anymore awesome?” Gabriel sent a message back.
I’ll see you in the library tomorrow. If your there, I’m there.
“Pajama time.” Gabriel went to his dresser and got a pair of shorts and a beat up shirt. Afterwards he went into the bathroom, brushed his teeth, and went over to the bed. Instead of lying down like most people do, he jumped belly first right on top and then decided to turn on his back. The bright light of the moon peeked through his window. A dark mysterious chill filled Gabriel’s room. Shivering he pulled his blanket up over his shoulders. “What the hell. It’s freezing in here all of a sudden.” Gabriel got out of bed and went into his leaving room. As soon as he entered the motion sensor activated the light. “It’s cold in here also. Maybe some tea will help warm me up.” Gabriel went to the kitchen. He hesitated this time. The motion sensor didn’t turn the light on. Gabriel quickly became nervous. “Must be a burnt out bulb.” Gabriel decided not to go into the kitchen. Instead he got another blanket from the couch and proceeded back into his room. As he entered, the motion sensors again didn’t turn on the lights. Gabriel became unable to move. The sheer feeling of being in the dark paralyzes him. “It has to be a power thing.” Gabriel jumped in his bed and kept his eyes open. He couldn’t get over the feeling that someone is watching him. Hours went by and Gabriel finally fell asleep. The light of the moon disappeared and the bone chill air rose in temperature. The night still is not peaceful for Gabriel. Tossing and turning in his sleep, vivid nightmares occur in his head.
“Hadriel, you are no angel. You are nothing like us!” Hadriel then looked at Gabriel and smirked. Then Gabriel saw Hadriel raise his hand and closed his fist. Angela then fell.
“Angela!” Springing up, Gabriel found himself in a pool of sweat. “It’s the same nightmare again.” Gabriel had enough sleep for one night. He went into his living room and put the television on. “Great, 4:30 am. Just what I need for the second day of classes.” Gabriel became restless and walked to the kitchen. At first he hesitated, but when he continued walking the sensor turned the light on. Gabriel walked over to his tea kettle and started filling it up. “Tea will do me good.” When Gabriel started to put the stove on, the lights then began to flicker. “Stupid light. It has to be the bulb going.” Gabriel didn’t bother making any tea. Instead he just sat on the couch and starred out the window until morning came. “Looks like day two of classes start.” Having a corrupted night sleep he sluggishly got up and started getting ready.
Chapter 3 RELEASE THE BEAST
T he suns wonderful rays were soon diminished early morning. Dark ferocious clouds crept into the sky causing misery on the earth. “Awesome, second day of classes and it’s going to pour any second.” Gabriel continues to get ready, the sky darkens and a rumble is felt followed by a flash of blinding light. “That was insane, what the hell was that?” Gabriel approached the window in his living room. “That’s odd.” To his surprise, the eerie mystery clouds vanished. “Must have been one of those ing thunderstorms I guess.” Back at the school campus a man named Samuel and Aliza are together in the library. “You know what that flash of light means don’t you Aliza?” Samuel uneasy starred out the window. “Looks like this just got more interesting.” Samuel walked away and sat in a chair. Samuel is roughly 6’ 3’, broad body, well-toned and hair is always spiked with dark features. Gabriel met him while doing a summer class together before the semester started. “It appears that we were both right.” Aliza nervously smirked. “But, it could just be a ing storm of course also.” “I’ll find out definitely.” Samuel started to walk away. “Don’t let your guard down, you hear me?” Samuel then left the library. “I can handle myself, thank you very much.” Aliza started to put books away. After the quick ing storm, the sun shined the entire neighborhood up. “I must it. Having a late class is awesome if the day is like this.” Gabriel looked into the sky and sensed a feeling of relief. “Totally going to Central Park.” As Gabriel started taking steps forward, his phone started ringing. “Hello?” “Hey man it’s Samuel, let’s go get a drink, our classes don’t start until a couple hours.” “We’ll I can’t that up. Come to Central Park, there’s a lot of places near that.” “Ok, see you soon bro.” Samuel hung up and Gabriel kept walking towards the park.
“Ok guess I’ll wait for him.” Gabriel sat on a bench and just ired everything. The people jogging, animals are acting senseless, and there is even a pond with crystal clear water that sparkles in the sunlight. “Yo, Gabe!” Samuel came out of the shadows it seemed and surprised Gabriel. “Ok, I got the bottle right here.” Samuel took a brown paper bag out of his pocket. “15 year old aged scotch. Can’t get any better than that.” Gabriel looked uneasy. “I don’t know man. That craps not allowed in the park.” Gabriel stood up. “Let’s go to an actual bar man.” Gabriel waited for a response. “Aren’t you just a good old Boy Scout? Alright let’s go.” As Samuel started walking with Gabriel, curiosity got the best of him. “So Gabe, what exactly made you come to NYU and move to the big city?” “Um, honestly just to make something of myself I guess. My family died in a car accident so I kind of want to make them proud.” “Your family? So you are from here?” Samuel became a tad uneasy. “Where did you think I was from? Outer space, ha-ha.” Gabriel had no idea how right he almost was. Samuel still is not convinced. “You must have a lot of nightmares at night.” The two of them finally reached the bar. “Bartender can we have two beers please.” “Actually, I have strange nightmares. About stupid make believe Angels and Demons.” Samuel choked on his beer. “You ok man?” “Yea I’m fine. Those are strange dreams for sure man.” Samuel started to get nervous. “Yea, usually the same dream. I’m staring down at it. I don’t know. I guess it’s a monster but looks like a human to me.” Gabriel took a big sip of his beer. {It is him} Samuel paid the bill rather quickly. “Gabe, I’m going to run man. Try not to be late to class; it starts a little more than an hour.” Samuel urgently left. In the library, Aliza is helping students with their studies. “Aliza, it’s him. He is
having dreams of the past.” Samuel again appeared out of nowhere. “We have to end this.” Samuel started sweating. “Then the lightning this morning. That must have been them then.” Aliza dropped the books that she was sorting out. “You’re in charge. What should I do?” Samuel waited for the order. “Just prepare and stay close to Gabriel. If it was them, he needs to trust us more than ever.” Aliza then walked right Samuel not even looking him in the eye. While at the bar, Gabriel seemed to have a little control on how much he drank. “Bar-Bar. Bartender! I think I have to go to a class, I can’t exactly.” Gabriel started to get up. “I definitely have class. Hey. Hey you.” Gabriel mumbling to a girl a couple seats down from him. “Yes?” The girls’ hair is as red as blood, skin is golden. To Gabriel’s eyes, atleast what he could make out, her body has the perfect curves on them. “Are you going to stare or say something big guy?” “Dam girl you are skin burning hot.” Gabriel then collapsed on the floor of the bar knocking over some stools. The girl kneeled down next to him. “Oh Gabe.” As the red head was about to help Gabriel up, Samuel came barging in. “I’ll take him.” Staring at Gabriel on the floor he walked over and picked him up. As he walked , the red head starred uneasy. “Sam, I fell man., I fell hard.” Gabriel just making some words out. “Yea bro, you hit that ground hard.” Samuel carried Gabriel out of the bar and when he got to the street he called for a taxi. “Yo! Taxi!” “No. I mean I fell in love.” Gabriel flung his body around and started at the bar. “That girl.” Gabriel stumbled but regained his balanced. “Sam. I don’t feel good bro.” Gabriel did not move a muscle. “In that case forget the taxi. We will walk.” Samuel walked Gabriel down the street. “Think you can walk by yourself now?” Samuel hesitantly let him go.
“I got it.” Gabriel felt woozy with every step he took. “We go to class?” Gabriel seems to be asking the ground rafter than Samuel. “Um, ha I don’t think that’s going to work. Why don’t we go to the library, you stay there and I’ll be sure to get some notes for you?” Samuel started to push Gabriel towards the campus. “I like that idea. Is Aliza there?” Gabriel smirked. “She is hot also.” “I’ll make sure of it.” Samuel continued to walk Gabriel. It’s almost 4 o clock and the sun is slowly setting. A faint chill is felt which makes Gabriel more coherent. “Sam. I’m going home actually.” Gabriel removed Samuels arm from his. It wasn’t easy. Gabriel has to use a lot of his strength. “Campus is right up there though.” Samuel put his hand on Gabriel’s back and directed him where he wanted him to go. “You will sit with Aliza, got it?” Samuel being more forceful. The two of them finally arrived at the campus after blocks of walking torture. “Ok, I’ll take him from here.” Aliza met them at the campus entrance. “Hey hot stuff!” Gabriel still a little drunk lunged right at Aliza. “Let’s go study girl.” Gabriel started walking by himself to the library. “I’m going to get to our next class. I have to bring him notes. Something feels different today in the air.” Samuel stares into the sky. “We definitely aren’t alone anymore.” Aliza quickly went to follow Gabriel. Samuel rushing into the class to make it seem he is giving some effort. “Sorry I’m late professor.” Samuel entered the class and went to one of the empty seats in the back. “What? You?” “So, I guess your buddy didn’t make it?” The red head from the bar flirtatiously speaks to Samuel. “It appears not.” Samuel sensed warmth from her. Whispering he leaned towards her. “Who are you?” Samuel took a deep breath.
“I’m your end.” The red head lost her flirtatious tone. The warmth Samuel felt increased. “You really don’t think you’re going to stop him, do you?” “Him who? The person without a memory? Ha, please, he is no threat to us.” Samuel started being cocky. “What’s your name anyway?” “Jessica. By the way, he will be a threat.” Jessica then got up and left the class without a care. Samuel starred as she walked away. In a loss of words, he sat in silence. At the library Gabriel could barely move. “I feel like I just got hit by a truck.” Gabriel drooling on the library table. “Haven’t you ever drunk before?” Aliza smirking. “Of course I have. I drank a couple times when I was younger. I’m not a complete loser.” Gabriel slowly got up. “The room is spinning.” As he took a couple steps forward he slowly started to fall into Aliza. “Hey now, watch it big boy.” Aliza leaned against the table and smiled at Gabriel. “This isn’t exactly a cute moment of yours.” “So I had cute moments huh?” Gabriel leaned towards her while grabbing her waist firmly. “Sometimes you do.” Aliza pulled Gabriel close to her. “Excuse me?” A voice interrupted. “Can I get some help or are you two going to get down and dirty in front of me?” Jessica stood in front of the two of them. “Looks like someone is feeling better.” “Bar girl!” Gabriel shamelessly called out. “The name is Jessica” She locked eyes with Aliza. “Is there something a matter” Aliza almost breathless just starred at Jessica. The warmth is radiating from her causing an uneasy feel inside her body. “No. Nothing at all. What can I help you with miss?”
“Hmm, you have any angelic and demonic rivalry books?” Sarcastically playing games with Aliza, Jessica was trying not to laugh. “I’ll be right back.” Aliza uneasy and agitated went to get the books. When Aliza left, Jessica’s whole demeanor changed. Her stance became relaxed and her attitude softened. “So Gabe, you don’t mind if I call you that do you?” “Of course not, my friends use to call me that anyway.” Gabriel sat back on the chair. At this point Jessica started to act nervous. “So, uh, what made you come to NYU?” “Kind a way to prove myself. I actually don’t have any family. An accident happened and I want to do this for them.” Gabriel forced a smile that quickly turned upside down. “That’s very honorable Gabe.” Jessica went over and sat right by him. “I’ll help you, if you need it.” The light bounced off her skin as it does through diamonds. A sense of relaxation fell upon Gabriel. “I’m back!” Aliza approached rapidly. “There, all the books we have.” Aliza threw them right in front of her. “Ok, guess that’s my cue to leave. I’ll see you soon Gabe. Who knows, maybe you also, uh, Aliza right?” Jessica stood up. “Actually ill just leave these here. Gabe, you might like them.” Jessica left and Aliza glared at her. “See you around Jessica.” Gabriel looked at Aliza. “She’s nice. Don’t you think-.” Gabriel saw her eyes. “Ok, I guess you don’t agree.” Gabriel got up. “You want to come over tonight?” “You have no idea how much I do. But, I don’t get out until late and then I have a 9 o clock class.” Aliza actually looked really upset. “Can we do a rain check?” “Of course!” Gabriel leaned in and kissed her check for a goodbye. “I’ll see you soon, text me later.” When Gabriel left, Aliza looked disgusted. She closed her eyes and then spoke. “Samuel, kill miss red head.” Aliza opened her eyes and looked as if waiting for a response. A voice echoed in the empty library.
“Yes.” The sun is setting on the campus grounds. Jessica is seen scurrying as if she is running for safety. “Something is following me.” She stopped. “Who is there?” A cold breeze came that took her breath away. “Fine, guess we are playing games now huh.” Jessica slowly stepped back and vanished into the shadows. Black and purple smoke appeared in the campus courtyard. Slowly a being started to emerge. “Those little tricks aren’t going to save you for long.” Samuel emerged from the smoke and took steps forward. “Come out and die with honor!” “Didn’t your mother ever tell you not to pick on girls?” Jessica came from the shadows and wasted no time. Out from the air itself she grabbed a sword of immense light. “Are you just going to stand there, or you going to dance with me?” Jessica mocks Samuel as they stare into a standoff. “You have no idea who you are facing do you?” Samuel clenched his fist and looked into the sky. Smiling he just stared into Jessica’s eyes. “A full moon.” “You have to be kidding me.” Jessica took a step back and watched Samuel release his power. Ripping his own flesh away, he changed into a bloodthirsty animal. A snarling, ferocious and a lethal killer. “You’re a werewolf!” Jessica took a battle stance. “You are going to die. Angel.” Samuel now standing nearly seven feet, his skin seems to be made of muscle itself and he snarls up blood. “Well, I see why your Aliza’s pet.” Jessica sprinted towards the beast. “Come foolish angel.” The beast stood mocking Jessica as he approached for the strike. As she was nearly in front of Samuel, his claws emerged from his fingertips. In a dash from Samuel, Jessica fell to the ground. “This is too easy.” “What, you think one hit and I’m down. Let’s make this an even fight shall we?” Jessica stood up and a light emerged around her. “What is this?” Samuel wasted no time. Using his animalistic speed and power he charged towards Jessica. When the light cleared, Jessica had enormous wings bright in a golden color. Samuel stopped in his tracks. “An elite.” Samuel
quickly turned away but not fast enough. “Trying to run? It’s not nice to leave a girl on a first date.” Jessica faster than anything appeared in front of Samuel and sliced his throat. Seizing, Samuel fell to his knees. “Little puppy going to sleep now?” Samuel slowly turned back into his mortal form. “H-how?” Samuel hardly able to speak. “We know what your plans are. We aren’t going to allow that to happen.” Jessica raised her blade one more time and impaled her sword into Samuels’s chest. The moon turned red as blood. The clouds in the sky slowly fell to the ground blanketing the dead werewolf. As the mist cleared, the body was gone. “That angel bitch is going to die.” Aliza stood in the library looking out into the darkness. “Then bring it on.” Jessica appeared behind Aliza. “Listen Angel. I’m not a wolf. I’m not a witch. I’m not one of those tools for a demon. I am a demon. The top of the line.” Aliza turned to face Jessica and her eyes were black as night. “Black eyes. You must be old.” Jessica retracted her wings. “I’ll be seeing you.” Jessica vanished in a bright flash. “This is not going the way I wanted.” Aliza seemed confused. She looked back behind her and then out the window again. “Don’t angels travel in twos?” Aliza then laughed and returned her eyes to normal. “Looks like we have a rogue angel. This might be easier than I anticipated.” Gabriel lying on his couch actually finds something to watch on television. “I should just go to bed.” Gabriel shut his television off and proceeded to get ready to sleep. As he walked into the kitchen to get a drink, as always the motion sensor turned the lights on. “Kind of messed up that Aliza never texted me. Not even Samuel. Wonder what’s going on.” Gabriel left the kitchen. As he walked ed his living room window he was stopped by a supernatural sight. “A red moon?” Out of nowhere a thought came out of his head through his mouth.
“Death of a night creature.” Gabriel just stopped after saying that. “What the? Ugh, I definitely drank too much today.” Gabriel took his shirt off and continued into the bedroom. Closing the blinds he didn’t even bother looking at the moon. “I hope Samuel is ok, he always texts me.” Gabriel stares at the ceiling. As Gabriel blinked, an image flashed in his head of a beast falling to the ground. “What the hell!” Gabriel sprung out of bed. “I need one good night sleep. Please!” Slamming his head back into the pillow, Gabriel closes his eyes again. “That’s better, no freaky images.” A voice was heard in the apartment. “I’m going to pretend I didn’t hear that.” This time the sound is louder. Gabriel got out of bed to see what it was. As he did the door sprung forward and out from the darkness came a half dead looking animal. Gabriel couldn’t move at all. As the beast lunged for him, Gabriel opened his eyes. “I didn’t even notice I fell asleep. These dreams have to stop.” Gabriel opened the blinds and saw the moon back to normal. The light of the moon made a path that cleared the way for Jessica to walk at night. “I didn’t think Aliza would be so old. Eyes black as a ravens sight as powerful as the moon rules the night.” Jessica kept walking up the path that the moons light created. At the end, Jessica approached Gabriels apartment building. “Hope you sleep tight.” Jessica took a deep breath. Late that night Aliza still waits in the library. She raised her hand and out from it came a ball of darkness. “Dark powers obey me. Cause misfortune for Gabriel.” She released the ball and it immediately started to travel to Gabriel’s location. “For my master, I will not fail.” Her eyes turned black once again as the clouds sounded as if a stampede was upon them.
Chapter 4 ONE FALLS, ANOTHER RISES
T hunder roared and lightning lit the sky. The orb of dark misfortune hovers over Gabriel as he sleeps. For once Gabriel sleeps tight. As the orb starts to glow, Gabriel starts to twist and turn in his bed. The orb slowly dissolves into the wall as a shadow and lightning continues to light the sky. Jessica sits in a dark room with candles lit. Her breathing is shallow. “Something is wrong.” Jessica snaps out of a meditation trance and becomes alarmed. As she stands, the candles slowly dim down and her walk is slow. “Lights on.” Her apartment lights came on, as the candles disappeared. Instead of the dark room, she stands in the middle of a beautiful apartment. “Gabriel. Gabriel relax.” Staring out of her bedroom window she softly speaks. “Relax.” She walks into her living room and searches frantically in a cabinet. “Found it.” She slowly and carefully pulls out an object wrapped in a white cloth. She places it on her coffee table and unwraps a knife with diamond and gold accents on the handle. The blade itself seems to be made of a bright burning light. “I ask for assistance. Search and destroy the fiend causing the pain in Gabriel.” The blade of light levitated into the air. Faster than light itself, the knife shot right into Gabriels bedroom and impaled the shadow on the wall. The shadow disappeared and the knife reappeared right in front of Jessica. “He seems to be better now.” Jessica carefully wrapped the knife and placed it back in the cabinet. “Back to meditating.” “You are going to die by my hands!” A shadowy Aliza appeared right behind Jessica. “You’re all alone. You can’t stand against me.” Jessica slowly turned around. “You aren’t going to harm Gabriel.” Jessica turned away. She paused and then turned back around. “Are the rumors true?” “You are a brave angel.” Aliza’s shadow started to disappear. Jessica took a deep breath. Morning broke and Gabriel is slow to rise. “Another day is here.” Gabriel stands up and wobbles as he walks. Gabriel slowly walked into the kitchen to get a glass of water. “I’m thinking that I’ll just skip classes today.” Gabriel poured a glass of water and time itself seemed like it was stopping. The water and Gabriel froze in time.
“Gabriel, Gabriel, Gabriel.” Aliza appeared right behind him. This time her image was not beautiful. Her skin is deathly pale and eyes are darker than the night sky. “I could do it right now. I could kill you.” Aliza slowly brushes her hands over Gabriel’s body. “Lucky for you, my master wants you alive.” Whispering into his ear she stroked his back with her hand slowly. “I would love a new play thing.” Aliza left into the shadows and time started again. The water finished pouring and Gabriel took it into his living room where he collapsed onto the couch. “I wonder what’s on the television.” As he started to flip through the channels he saw from the corner of his eye that his phone was lighting up. “Oh, it’s Aliza.” Hey Gabe! Are you going to class today? If not we should hang out at your place. Text me back! “I am so inviting her.” He sent the invite back and immediately got up from the couch and into the shower. The steam from the shower filled the room so thick that nothing was visible. When he was done he heard a knock on the door. “Seriously she is here already?” Gabriel without anytime just grabbed a towel and wrapped it around himself. He opened the door and Aliza was standing there. “Did you fly here? I was in the shower for like 10 min.” Aliza did nothing but stare at Gabriel being half naked. “Uh- I was close by already.” Aliza brushed against Gabriel as she walked into his apartment. “You have a half decent apartment for a guy, you know that?” Aliza sat on his couch staring at him. “I do try. Let me go put some clothes on.” Gabriel started to walk away into his room. “Gabe.” Aliza made him stop walking. “There isn’t really any point to put clothes on.” Aliza seductively looks at Gabriel. Gabriel walked towards Aliza. As Gabriel was about to lie down with Aliza on the couch, a bright light emitted from behind. “No way.” “Get away from Gabriel.” Jessica appeared and looked in no mood for pleasantries. “Gabriel get by me now.” Jessica didn’t even twitch a nerve. “I said, get over here now.” Gabriel became too scared to move. “H-how did you get in here.” Aliza played
dumb. “Gabriel what’s going on?” Aliza made her body shake as if she was literally scared. Gabriel slowly stood up straight. “I want to know how you got in here.” Gabriel didn’t seem scared anymore. “I asked a question.” “Gabe, I swear I can explain everything, but please I need you to come by me and away from her.” Jessica’s tone turned from serious to a plea. “Please.” Gabriel backed away from both of them. “Oh screw this.” Aliza stood up. With her hand pointed at Jessica she started to feel power surge through her veins. “I’m leaving.” Aliza left and let Jessica and Gabriel alone. “Aliza wait.” Gabriel went to stop her, but she was already gone. “What the hell are you doing?” Gabriel furiously yells at Jessica. “Again, how did you get in here?” Gabriel still holding the towel up as he yells. “I can’t tell you. But, do not even go by Aliza anymore. Please Gabriel.” Jessica walked over to Gabriel and slowly caressed his face. Gabriel felt warmth and his nerves calmed down. “I wish I could tell you so much, but I can’t. Just believe me that you can trust me.” “Then tell me how you got in here when my door was locked.” Gabriel took her hand off his face. Jessica took a deep breath. “Like this Gabriel.” As she finished she vanished before his eyes. Gabriel stumbled back and fell onto his couch. Hardly able to catch his breath he wiped his eyes over and over. He immediately went to his phone to text Aliza. He caught himself staring at the name on the phone. He couldn’t’t text her. “I need a drink.” Gabriel stood up with shaky legs. He went into his bathroom and stared into the mirror. “This is the craziest day and it’s only the morning.” Aliza is found in a dark musky basement. The only light that is found is from a flickering light bulb. “Let me kill her.” Aliza talks to the air itself. “I know you can hear me. Just let me do it already.” The light stopped flickering and a voice answers back.
“We cannot allow Gabriel to get any memory back what so ever. If you kill her, do it discretely. Gabriel shall never know. Then, kill Gabriel.” The voiced echoed off and the light continued to flicker. “It’s about time. The angel dies tonight.” Aliza clenched her fist as her eyes turned dark. Gabriel hurries to get dressed. As soon as he does he sprints from his apartment to go outside. The day is bright and the sun is welcoming. Gabriel takes a deep breath and has no idea what to do. As he looks around he feels the suns warmth. It is the same warmth that he felt from Jessica. He slowly walks up the street. “Is that. Is that Jessica?” Gabriel almost positive he sees Jessica walking into an old abandoned gothic church. He slowly follows her making sure he does not get caught. As she enters the church Jessica sits in the front broken pew, Gabriel peeks through the door. “Father, I fear that I cannot do this on my own.” Jessica looked up at the ceiling. “Aliza is extremely powerful, more powerful than any demon I have ever encountered.” She starts to tear from her eye. Even the tear has a radiant sparkle from it. “Why haven’t you sent me help? I need help!” She quickly turned her head to the left. “Little, little Jessica.” Aliza emerged from the shadows. Gabriel stood still by the door. “I haven’t killed an angel in decades. I can’t wait to kill a broken, defeated one.” Gabriel couldn’t help but say the word. “An Angel?” Gabriel took a breath which made the door creak. Jessica turned her head. “Gabriel no.” Aliza smiled. “Come here lost boy.” Aliza made Gabriel’s body stiff as stone. As stiff as a board he was forced to walk into the church as if he was gliding in. “I want you to watch this.” Gabriel’s muscled stiffened hard as stone. Using her powers Aliza dragged him across the church floor. “Aliza, he is no harm, just let him go.” Jessica stood pleading. Aliza glared her eyes and Gabriel screamed out in pain. An aura of white smoke came from around him. “Enough of this!” Jessica charged at Aliza bringing her down to the floor and breaking her hold. Immediately after falling, Aliza threw her off.
“A pathetic, worthless angel is not going to stop me!” Aliza’s anger made the church shake causing pieces of old ceiling to fall. Gabriel slowly tries to stand up. The aura slowly dims around him. “This is not possible.” Aliza vanished immediately. “Gabe!” Jessica lunged underneath, catching him to hold him up. “You were glowing.” Jessica’s heart began to race. “What.” Gabriel tried to speak but was too weak. Jessica replied to console him. “It’s nothing. Never mind.” Jessica slowly helped Gabriel to a pew to sit. “Are you ok?” Jessica caressed his face. “You’re going to be ok.” “What the hell are you?” Gabriel practically drooling while asking. “This is nothing more than a dream. A horrible confusing dream.” Jessica then waved her hand over his face and a light brighter than the sun lit the church. When the light dimmed the church changed drastically. The walls started to become closer together and the pews combined in a glowing light. After the light dispersed, the church became Gabriel’s room and the pew he was on is now his bed. Jessica vanished. Back at the campus library Aliza is found staring out the window, smiling. “Looks like little lost Gabriel can regain his full memory.” Aliza then stopped smiling and turned toward a wall. “You never told me this could happen.” Aliza paced back and forth. “If he regains his memory, I won’t be able to do anything. I must end this now.” The room darkened. Smoke came out from all directions and formed a shadowy being behind her. Aliza trembled. “Master.” “Kill Gabriel first and then the angel.” The shadowy figure filled Aliza’s veins with fear which made her thick blood boil. “I-“Aliza tried to speak. “The angel will just stop me. She keeps interfering.” Aliza started to slowly bleed black blood from her nose. “If you can’t kill and innocent mortal because of one angel-” The being of shadows voice became deeper. “Then why do I need you? Why shouldn’t I kill you right now?” The shadow slowly dispersed. “Kill Gabriel.”
“Yes master.” Aliza’s nose stopped bleeding as she closed her eyes. The sun broke once again in Gabriel’s apartment waking him up for the second time today. “That was just a bizarre dream. I really need a drink now.” Gabriel slowly walked into the kitchen. “That’s odd. I didn’t think I left any glasses out last night.” While walking back into his living room a knock was heard on the door. “Who is it?” “It’s Aliza. Can I come in?” Gabriel smiled. “Obviously you can.” Gabriel went over to open the door. As he approached closer, the door busted in throwing Gabriel back. “What the hell!” Gabriel stumbled to get up. Gabriel quickly tried to run away. Aliza appeared right in front of him with dark black eyes and gray skin. “Holy crap your ugly as hell.” Gabriel stumbled backwards tripping over all of his furniture. “What’s a matter? I’m not pretty enough for you now that Jessica is around you.” Aliza walked closer to Gabriel. “In all honesty, if this is a girl thing then please take it up with her.” Aliza pushed Gabriel down and climbed on top of him. “I’m going to kill you now.” Aliza ran her hands up and down Gabriel’s body. She stopped her hands at his throat and squeezed. “So much for your guardian angel now.” A bright light appeared right behind Aliza that caught her attention. “Excuse me? Get off of him!” Jessica drew a sword out of thin air and spread her wings. Aliza took the hold off of Gabriel. “Oh my god I’m still dreaming.” Gabriel in a panic hid in his room. “Ok I have to wake up.” Gabriel pinched himself continuously. Loud noises and banging was heard from the other side. Jessica came crashing through his bedroom wall and Aliza took her time to walk over to her. “I want you to watch this Gabriel.” Aliza laughed. “Once so powerful, now can’t even stop one demon.” Aliza formed a ball of fire in her hand and sent it hurling towards Jessica. Jessica quickly dodged it and sent a ball of pure energy hurling at Aliza striking her dead center in the chest. “Bulls eye.” Aliza was sent flying back into the
other room. “I’ll be right back Gabe.” Staggering Jessica took the sword and pointed it right at Aliza. “Be gone dark evil.” The sword emitted a light that impaled through Aliza. Aliza choking slowly incinerated in a ball of flame leaving nothing but ashes. Jessica turned around towards Gabriel who is protecting himself holding a clock. “So, you’re going to literally clock my lights out huh?” Jessica retracted her wings and made the sword vanish in thin air. “I think we need to talk.” Jessica blinked and caused Gabriel to sit on the ground. “What are you? Please let me be dreaming. Oh God please.” Jessica blinked again and Gabriel’s mouth was unable to open. “Asking God isn’t going to help. You’re not dreaming. I am an angel and that was a demon. Actually, that was a pretty nasty demon.” Jessica walked over and sat on Gabriel’s bed. “Everything you know is a lie Gabriel. You are not of this world. You’re not even the age you think you are. You’re not mortal. You never had any family on earth. You are an angel. The strongest for that matter.” Jessica cleared her throat as she almost started to tear. “Your wife was killed by your best friend. You killed your best friend. You commanded the High Heavens.” Jessica looked up at the sky. “You were the best.” Jessica blinked and Gabriel’s mouth was able to move. “Say something. Gabriel, please say something.” “Get out.” Gabriel forcefully told her with a stone cold glare. “Get out of here.” Jessica turned her head away and stood up. “I came down here in defiance of a direct order. I believe that someone really powerful is back. It has been twenty years since you left us. It has been twenty years since you demanded your powers to be stripped.” Jessica started to cry. “It has been twenty years, since any angel has seen our heavenly father. When you left, you destroyed what heaven stood for. I am the only one that believes in you.” Jessica then walked through the whole in the wall. “You’re going to have to get this fixed.” Jessica then vanished. Gabriel sits on the ground. His heart races as sweat pours out of him. He turns his head and stares at his dead family in his picture frame. “I’m supposed to believe that I gave up an entire life where I mattered for fake memories of a dead family.” Gabriel stood up and looked out the window. Back where Aliza usually stands, a chill filled the air. The shadows merged
together once more. This time however, the being wasn’t just smoke. No, this time, the being became a solid body. “Never trust a demon to do a Gods job.” The being clenched his hands so tight, the bones cracked. His eyes glowed red and out from the shadows behind where he stood, came two large mongrels drooling blood. “Get Gabriel and bring him to me. If that foolish angel interferes at all, bring her to me as well.” The mongrels dashed out of there faster than a person can blink.
Chapter 5 RUMORS SURFACE
T he beasts snarl as they race the streets heading towards Gabriel. Not being able to be seen by mortal eyes, everything that is knocked over in the rampage is blamed on the wind. The taste of blood in their mouths help fuel their eagerness. One of the mongrels suddenly stops. The two ahead of him keep up the pace. The blood-thirsty demonic pet sniffs and quickly turns his head to the left. Shaking in place as a crazed rabid animal the scoundrel snarls once again and races towards an alley across the street. “Just a little closer boy.” Jessica was hiding in the alley way. The scoundrel continues to race after the angelic stench radiation from her. The mongrel stops. “Crap.” The blood thirst hound barks and signals for the other two. Instantly the hounds run back and appear behind him. “Not good.” Jessica vanished and the hounds continued to race towards Gabriel. “Gabriel we have to get out of here now.” Jessica appeared in front of Gabriel.” Gabriel did not move. He didn’t show any emotion. “There are three dangerous animals coming, we have to leave.” Jessica started to beg. “No.” Gabriel stood emotionless as a statue. “Let them kill me.” A tear fell from Gabriel’s eye. “I was happy until you came. I had friends or at least I thought. I had amazing memories of a loving family. You took that all away and replaced it with something I don’t even .” Gabriel started to cry more. Jessica turned her head. “Gabriel, they are getting closer. I won’t be able to take them on by myself.” Jessica grabbed Gabriel’s arm. “Get off of me!” Gabriel threw her arm off. “I don’t even know who you are.” Gabriel walked backwards from her. “Like I said let them kill me.” Jessica heard a snarl from behind her. “You can’t see them can you Gabriel?” Jessica took a deep breath. “Behind me are three beasts. Their mouths drip blood and their skins are made of flesh from corpses. They regenerate at a pace far faster than any angel or demon.” Jessica turned to face the hounds. “Do you want to see them? Do you want to see why you have to leave?” Jessica’s eyes turned white and as did Gabriel’s. “Take a look.”
Vision milky, Eyes are rot Let this mortal see What he sees not.
Gabriel’s heart started to pound. The beasts locked eyes with him. “What in the Hell are those?” “It doesn’t matter. They are here to kill you!” Jessica took her blade out from the thin air once again. The hounds raced right towards her. Immediately Jessica dodged two of them as the third one headed right for her, she sliced the head off with her blade. “No!” A hound quickly turned and took a bite out of Jessica’s leg as the other was trying to get her arm. “Gabriel run!” Gabriel stood watching. He couldn’t even run if he wanted to. All he could do is stare as Jessica is being brutalized by these blood-thirsty beasts. As Gabriel watched, time somehow slowed down. “What’s going on?” Time continued to slow until time stopped completely. Gabriel walked over and stood over Jessica. Her blood is spilling out but her face has no pain at all. “Do you feel anything for her Gabriel?” A voice was heard in the room. Gabriel in a panic looked around. “You are one of my greatest creations. You will soon find that out.” The voice slowly echoes away as the time unfreezes. As the time started again one of the hounds lunged right at Gabriel. “Gabriel move!” Jessica cried out as the hound was clawing at her. In a heartbeat of instinct Gabriel fell to the ground and picked up Jessica’s sword. As the hound appeared close above him he stabbed the hound dead. Gabriel quickly got up and chopped off the other hounds head. “Good moves.” Jessica began coughing blood up. Her entire body is clawed up. “I have to get you to a hospital.” Gabriel tried to pick Jessica up but she was in such severe pain, she couldn’t move. “I’m an Angel Gabe. A hospital can’t do anything for me. I need time to heal.”
Jessica slowly and painfully stood up. Blood drips from her arm and her legs tremble with every step she takes. She fell onto Gabriel’s couch and ed out immediately. Gabriel looked around at the bodies of the decapitated hounds. But, he was lost. “Where’s the third one?” Gabriel looked around. It seems the first one he killed is no longer there. Gabriel never chopped the head off. “If they want me, I have to leave. Jessica can’t take anything else right now.” Gabriel left his apartment and walked outside. The air is musky and Gabriel becomes uneasy as he stares onto the moon. “If I have no memory, why am I a target?” Gabriel continued to walk the street. Inside Gabriel’s apartment Jessica laid motionless. The lights flickered followed by a flash. A being of enormous size appeared in a cloak. Hovering over Jessica, symbols on his cloak started to glow in a golden light. “Sweet Angel awake.” The being unleashed wings from his back. Jessica woke up. “Impossible.” Jessica just starred in astonishment. On one side the being had soft wings of an angle and on the other bone carved wings of a demon. “I dare not speak in your presence my Lord.” Jessica moved to sit up slowly but the pain is intolerable. The being put his hand on her and the wounds instantly healed. “Angel. I thank you for watching over Gabriel.” The beings voice was powerful. His voice echoes with every word. “His awakening will soon come to and he will need help.” The symbols on the beings cloak faded and he retracted his wings. As he started to walk away he spoke one last time. “Gabriel is alone outside right now. There is a loose hound that wasn’t killed.” The being faded. Jessica looked around the apartment. “One, two.” Jessica sprung up. “The head was still on!” Jessica closed her eyes and focused onto Gabriel. “I can’t read him.” Jessica’s heart started to race. “Please no.” Jessica tried to focus even harder. “He can’t be.” Jessica thought about what to do. “Power of light come forth. Help me find Gabriel.” A ball of light appeared in front of Jessica. “Please, you have to lead me to him.” The ball circled around Jessica’s head and started to proceed towards Gabriel. The ball of light led Jessica outside. The moon shines brightly, a sight that she does not like to see. “Full moon again.” The ball circles around her head to get her attention. “Quickly.” She hurries her pace to follow the light. She stops
running when she sees a blood mark on the street. From the corner of her eye she spotted a carcass of the hound. “Claw marks.” Jessica started to shake “Orb, faster!” As she ran faster she could start to sense Gabriel. “I got it from here.” Jessica then teleported where Gabriel was. Sitting in a pew, Gabriel is found staring at a church altar. This church is massive and gothic. Columns sturdy yet aged years on years. “Gabriel?” Jessica slowly walked up to him. “Ga-.” “There’s no point.” Interrupting Jessica. “He can’t hear or see you. He is in a very deep trance.” A man slowly walked out of the shadows. The man had to be nearly seven foot tall with a massive frame. His eyes were light green and were accompanied by a welcoming smile. “I don’t care who you are. But please, let Gabriel go. He can’t harm you.” Jessica started to beg. “Oh look, an angel begging. I like this.” The man walked closer to Jessica. “What if I don’t? What are you going to do, to the big bad wolf?” The man grinned. “I’ll kill you just like I killed the other mutt Samuel.” Jessica backed up and prepared to fight. “Ha. I like you. You have a lot of spunk. But, you’re not going to kill me. Actually, you can’t kill me.” The man sat in a pew facing Jessica. “Where are your little angel buddies? Don’t you guys travel in packs?” “Let Gabriel go.” Jessica then spread her wings. “Uh oh, going full angel now.” The man stood up. “You know what. I’ve been rude. My name is Nathaniel.” Nathaniel walked towards the altar. “I’m the first.” Nathanial smiled. “First?” Jessica became confused. “First to what, enter a holy place?” “You’re dumb. I’m the very first werewolf.” Nathanial could hear Jessica’s hurt beat faster. “Fir-“Jessica couldn’t get the word out.
“Exactly, the first. You can’t kill me doll. I’m centuries old and really far out of your league.” A curious look came upon his face. “Hm. Do you have any angel buddies?” Nathanial walked closer to Jessica and sniffed her. “Wow.” Nathanial backed away. “Do you even know what you are?” He picked her scent up. He sensed divinity. He sensed powers that measures close to his own. “It doesn’t matter.” Jessica started into his eyes. “Gabriel is nothing anymore. He is a mortal, let him be.” Jessica trembled as she talks. “He is a mortal with angelic blood in him.” Nathanial became annoyed. Without Jessica being unable to react he appeared in front of her and grabbed her throat. “How much do you of being an angel?” Nathaniel released his hold. “I think, you only a certain fraction of memories so you know who Gabriel is. You are nothing more than a creation to bring Gabriel back to heaven.” Nathaniel let go of her neck and back off a bit. “Well, then I guess I should do my job.” Jessica dashed towards Nathaniel, who simply stood there. Jessica felt like she ran into a brick wall. “Stop trying to be a noble hero. You can’t kill the daddy of all werewolves.” Nathanial allowed her to get off the floor. “Yea. What about Hadriel!” Jessica immediately held her breath after. “What did you just say?” Nathaniel lost his welcoming smile. “You heard me! That’s why this is all happening right? Hadriel is back and taking over. It must be pretty rough trying to fight for leadership. This is probably why you want a little hybrid of angel and werewolf going on.” Jessica grinned. “That’s enough out of you.” Nathaniel ran into her and knocked her against a wall across the church. “This is going to be too easy.” He slowly walked over to a hurt Jessica. “I don’t even have to go wolf on you. That’s just sad. You know, Gabriel would have had me dead by now most likely.” Nathaniel kicked Jessica in the abdomen and immediately she coughed up blood. She could feel her bones crack with every kick. He then bent over and picked her up by her head with one hand. “It’s a shame that such a creation as you has to die.” Nathaniel then changed in midst of holding her. His skin ripped apart and emerged the beast.
“Gabriel!” Jessica screamed as Nathaniel put more and more pressure on her head, slowly crushing her skull. As Gabriel sat there in a trance, memories still didn’t stop in his head.
Gabriel, you’re amazing! I love you Angela. Brothers till the end.
Gabriel woke from the trance. “Oh my god. Holy shit I .” Gabriel heard Jessica screaming in the back ground. “Hey!” Gabriel stood up proud. “Is that a werewolf?” Gabriel tried to hold back the feeling of pissing his pants. Nathaniel dropped Jessica who became unconscious. Snarling and grunting Nathaniel sprinted towards Gabriel who stood there. Behind Gabriel a ball of fire, massive in size formed and out from it came a man in a cloak. Nathaniel stopped frozen with fear and immediately jumped out a window and left the church. “Oh thank god.” Gabriel fell into the pew and the being behind him vanished. “Gabriel.” Jessica slowly got up and walked over to him. “Can I please take you back home now?” Gabriel looked confused. Jessica just stared at him. After being beaten half to death again, she had nothing else to say. “Yes.” Gabriel took Jessica’s hand and both of them warped out of the church. Nathaniel beyond pissed is found yelling in what it seems like a dungeon. “What are you doing?” “This would have been all over!” Nathanial closed his eyes and took a breath. “I’m sorry my Lord.” “Good puppy.” The man in the cloak from the church then walked up to Nathaniel. “Only I get to kill Gabriel. You couldn’t even kill an angel in time.” The man turned his back to him. “She is not a regular angel.” Nathaniel looked onto the floor. “She was created with the strength and power to bring Gabriel back and protect him.”
The man turned to face Nathanial. “Then I shall kill both. A war is starting soon. Get ready, you are my general.” The man then took his cloak off. “Stop calling me Lord. I have a name, a powerful name that stands for greatness, triumph and the new name that will mean ruler.” “I’m sorry.” Nathaniel smiled. “I will prepare, Lord Hadriel.” Nathaniel left. “Let’s send some pets into my hometown.” Hadriel smiled as fire lit his eyes.
Chapter 6 HOME SWEET HOME
W hen the warp ended Gabriel arrived in a field. The weak Jessica seemed to be recovering quicker here. With every step she stands stronger. “Jessica, is this Heaven?” Gabriel continued to follow her. “Yup. This is the realm of Heaven. It’s your home Gabriel.” Jessica’s appearance resembled nothing of a battle before. All wounds quickly healed. “Town is right over there.” “Those buildings are huge!” Gabriel stares in amazement. Buildings are sky high and built from gold and crystal. “This is unreal.” Gabriel couldn’t get a smile off of his face. “Gabriel we are going to do another warp. I don’t want to take you through town. It will be too crazy if the others saw you.” Jessica took his hand and vanished in a blink of an eye. Gabriel now stood in front of a massive building. Unlike the others this one seemed to be made of glass and diamonds. “Jessica, who lives here?” Gabriel waited for an answer. “This being is an extremely old Angel. He can grant your powers back to you. Go in Gabriel. I’ll be out here.” Jessica took a deep breath and starred at the town down the way. As Gabriel approached the building, the door opened and Gabriel became hesitant. “Gabe. Go in!” Jessica pushed Gabriel through followed by the doors slamming shut. “..Gabriel.” On the inside the building was enormous. Marble statues of angelic mythical creatures stood tall. Whenever Gabriel walked ed them, the eyes on the statues started to glow a blue color and the heads followed him. “This is freaking awesome.” Gabriel kept walking and found more and more that he liked. The floor itself seemed to be made of mirrors, up high stood chandeliers floating in midair. “This is something out of a book. This cannot be real.” Gabriel’s attention immediately went to the left of him when something caught his eye. “Unreal.” Gabriel couldn’t help but find himself walking towards a mounted sword. The sword stood on its tip while a statue of an immense angel held it. The sword itself had an aura surrounding it of blue light with a fine mist on the bottom of it. Gabriel froze in front of it. “Just one touch.” Gabriel slowly went to touch the sword.
“I wouldn’t do that if I was you. The sword doesn’t belong to you.” An old man stood behind Gabriel. “That sword belongs to a great warrior. Well, use to anyway.” The man approached Gabriel and stood on the side of him. “This sword is amazing.” Gabriel couldn’t take his eyes off of it. Gabriel looked at the man. “Who are you?” “I’m the Keeper. Everything that is lost, found, learned, forgotten and even abandoned comes to me.” The old man slowly walked away. “So you’re like the storage guy.” Gabriel mocks the Keeper. “If you want to put it that way, then yes I am.” The Keeper as old as he looked didn’t move or act that way. His clothes were heavy purple white robes and his beard went ed his knees. His movements are that of a child, quick and precise. “Follow me Gabriel.” The Keeper walked and approached a wall with a massive painting of an Angel fighting another Angel. “Does this mean anything to you? Does this call out to you as the sword does?” The Keeper waited for an answer. “No, this just reminds me of a boring museum.” Gabriel walked away and started looking at other things. “Now this is cool. What’s this?” Gabriel went right up to a stand with a head on it. “That is a head of a dragon. Actually, it’s one of the rarest types. Centuries ago dragons use to live among us. They are a life source of power. This dragon type however, is made by the tears of fallen dragons.” The Keeper put his hand on Gabriel’s shoulder. “We haven’t seen a single dragon in 20 years. Balance has been subsided. Fate is non-existent. Everything is different.” The Keeper turned and Gabriel followed. “It’s because of me isn’t it?” Gabriel questioned the Keeper. “I’m the reason why everything changed?” Gabriel didn’t look concerned or worried. His face has an expression of confusion. “You denounced your powers. You defied the law of God in a rebellious act.” The Keeper looked at Gabriel in the eyes. “You are definitely the reason.” The Keeper stood more erect. “You are not a child. You are not a mortal. You are an Arch-Angel, the most powerful for that matter. When you denounce a power like that, a power that is granted to you, repercussions happen to everything.
Especially while your counterpart is still alive.” The Keeper waived his arm swiftly and appeared an old moldy book that floated in the air. “Every single thing that has happened, from the second it happens appears in this book. When you the test, you will be able look, to know who you are.” The Keeper walked towards a door. “What test? Listen I don’t know what’s going on here but, I think it’s time Jessica comes in and does what she does because I’m not taking a test.” Gabriel stood his ground. The Keeper became taken back. “Who’s Jessica?” The Keeper looked confused. “You didn’t come here on your free will?” The Keeper made the book disappear. “She is the angel that saved my life numerous times and at the same time ruined my life.” Gabriel’s face became confused again. “Do I need to go get her or what?” Gabriel back up. “It is written in the book that you, Gabriel will come back to heaven seeking your birthright power and defend heaven once again. This Jessica is not part of the writing.” The Keeper became enraged. “Ok calm down.” Gabriel walks in circles to get away from him. “You don’t get it!” The Keeper stuck his hand out and made Gabriel stand still. “If the being or event is not in the book then the being or event never took place in Heaven. In that case Jessica, if she really is an angel, was never created in Heaven by our Heavenly Father.” The Keeper started to scurry away. “Where are you going?” Gabriel yells. “Hey!” Gabriel became angry. “Stop already!” The Keeper stopped walking. “I don’t care if she is an angel or a demon or anything for that matter. This is about me and you right now.” Gabriel stood tall and yelled. “Now, who the hell am I?” The Keeper smiled as he looked at Gabriel. “You’re.” The Keeper chuckled. “You’re the next in line to rule. You’re the deciding factor of Heavens fate.” The Keeper went over the sword. “This is your sword. This is your angelic power around it. That dragons head was the last dragon to ever defend Heaven. The dragon fought off dozens of his kind in your name, which was the same day you denounced your powers. The same day you killed your best friend. Or so you thought you did.” The Keeper looked at
Gabriel. “Do you truly want to have your life back?” Gabriel looked around him. “I feel more at home being here than I do back where I was.” Gabriel starred at the sword. “What do I have to do?” Gabriel stood motionless. The Keeper waived his arm and like a magic trick appeared a door. “All you have to do is go through that door and make it back out.” The Keeper waited for Gabriel to enter. “Wait. What exactly do you mean make it back out?” Gabriel became hesitant. “Don’t worry about that right now. Just go in and make sure you come out.” The Keeper slowly vanished in front of Gabriel. The door in front of him opened and a blinding light emitted from it. Outside the building Jessica stood motionless as she looked at the town. “So, you must be Jessica.” The Keeper appeared behind her. “Who and what are you.” The Keeper sternly questions Jessica. “I’m an Angel whose duty was to bring Gabriel here. That is exactly who I am and that is all that pertains to you.” Jessica turned to face The Keeper. “Where is Gabriel? Is he ok?” Jessica expressed concern towards him. “Gabriel is being tested as we speak. It’s up to him if he will be ok.” The Keeper approached closer. “Who gave you the order?” Jessica looked back down to town. “Can you sense that?” Jessica snapped a look at The Keeper. “Demons!” Jessica teleported and appeared to a town where the streets are filled with blood. “Something isn’t right.” All over the ground arms and bones could be seen. “Skeletons and zombies? They couldn’t cause all this.” Jessica kept walking forward; in the distance glowing yellow eyes could be seen through the mist of death. “No.” Jessica immediately took a battle stance. Out of the thick mist came a brutal and enormous werewolf. The door where Gabriel stood continued to emit a strong light. As Gabriel approached, wind surged around him and forced him back. A voice was heard surrounding him. “Gabriel.” The voice echoes through the room. The door abruptly shut and around Gabriel appeared purple smoke that combined into a being larger than Gabriel. “Greetings Gabriel.” Gabriel looked in amazement.
“What are you? Are you here to test me?” Gabriel nervously couldn’t stop his body from shaking. “I will not be testing you. The test you were about to proceed into would be a waste of time and that’s something we do not have. I am the Lord of Life and Death, the most powerful being under the deities who in which are God and Lucifer.” The being walked towards Gabriel and put his hand on Gabriel’s head. Gabriel’s eyes turned white as powder and visions of his past awoke in his mind. Memories such as him slaying a bloodthirsty beast as a kid and meeting his best friend Hadriel. The memories became grimmer as the death of his wife appeared followed by Gabriel killing Hadriel. The Lord took his hand off of him. “This is who you are.” The Lord walked away and stood in front of a statue of an ArchAngel. “You are the most powerful Angel as well as Hadriel.” “You can’t just come here. Flash some memories in my head and expect me to just go on a demon killing spree. What is wrong with everyone here?” Gabriel stood still. “Gabriel, if you choose to do nothing, then you will wake up and nothing. But be warned. You will die. All humanity will die. Heaven will be overthrown and Jessica will die shortly.” The Lord cracked his neck. “I am dying. All life that breaths shall one day breathe their last breath. When that happens and if Hadriel takes your place, God himself will be the only one that can overcome.” The Lord approached and grabbed the mounted sword that has Gabriel mesmerized. “You don’t trust me, I can sense it and that’s fine. Honestly I’m not telling you everything. But, I am going to hand you this sword which is yours, accepting this will restore you to who you were and bring back all memories. The choice is yours.” The Lord waited with sword in hand. “The keeper said this is my entire fault, is that true?” Gabriel slowly stuck his arm out. “It’s only true if you do not take this sword and make it right.” The Lord slowly let go of the sword as Gabriel took the handle. An immense surge of power emitted from the sword which made Gabriel yell in agony. “Be strong Gabriel.” The Lord slowly vanished and the building unleashed a light that cleared heaven of all the dark beings. When the light stopped Gabriel stood proud with sword in hand.
Breathing deeply Gabriel’s muscles became more profound. His appearance is now taller with a stone cold look in his eyes. “I everything.” Gabriel walked all over the building until he could sense Jessica. “Well, I guess it’s my turn to save her.” Gabriel blinked and immediately appeared right behind Jessica. Broken and bleeding, Jessica lied motionless as a rabid werewolf chewed at her leg. “Jessica.” The beast arose after hearing Gabriel’s voice and roared straight at him. “You’re a big dog aren’t’t ya?” Gabriel wasted no time mocking the great beast. The beast charged at him faster than a blink of an eye. “Too slow.” Gabriel shifted to the right making the werewolf miss and slide on the ground trying to brace himself. Immediately Gabriel dashed right at him impaled his sword straight between the eyes. “Jessica!” Gabriel rushed over and held Jessica’s head in his arms. “I can’t believe it that I’m holding a dying angels body in my arms again. Jessica, you have to stay with me and breath.” Gabriel continued to hold her as he yelled. “What good am I? I can’t save anyone!” “Ga-Gabriel.” Jessica slowly spoke wasting any type of breath she has in her. “It hurts so much.” Jessica’s body slowly turned cold. “No. You are not going to die. Not like this, not in my arms.” Gabriel gently put her head down as he stood tall. “This is my entire fault.” Gabriel starred at a slowly dying Jessica. An angel that saved his life more than once is dying right in front of him. “Not like this.” Gabriel picked up Jessica carefully and warped back into the Keepers building. “Keeper!” “Gabriel. You ed!” The Keeper became amazed. “Oh and you brought her.” The Keeper turned his back. “You will turn around dammit. Don’t forget I have all my memories back and I know exactly who you are. You are The Keeper of all knowledge and of everything ever created. There has to be something in this building to save her.” Gabriel waited for answer but he didn’t get one. “Gabriel yelled as his wings fanned out. “Ok. I’ll be right back.” The old man stumbled along as he went to get a bottle in a very old chest. In it was a liquid that shined silver. “Pour the contents on her wounds. It will take some time but she will be ok.” The Keeper handed Gabriel the bottle and walked away.
“Why don’t you like this Angel?” Gabriel is confused. “She was made just to bring you back. She doesn’t belong here. Our father has not been seen or heard from since your denounce in power. Then out of nowhere she shows up? It makes me wonder what is planned.” The Keeper walked away. “Forget that old fool.” Gabriel pours the liquid all over her body. “Come on work!” Jessica’s wounds slowly started to heal. “Good.” Gabriel left Jessica on the floor as the wounds kept healing. Gabriel looked around the building and felt a taste of hatred. “I should have had never come back here.” Continuing to walk around, Gabriel approached a box. “Ha. Pandora’s Box. Definitely don’t want that party coming out. What? No way!” Gabriel ran over and stopped at a smashed up helm. “The Guardian Helm.” Gabriel could hear footsteps behind him. “Feeling better I see.” “Gabe. Did you save me?” Jessica is still feeling a little delusional.” She approached Gabriel. “Do not come any closer to me.” Gabriel turned to face her. “You are in serious trouble.” Gabriel squinted and made Jessica motionless. “You wanted big boy Gabriel back. Fine I’m here. Now, who are you?” “Gabriel you can let me go I won’t hurt you.” Jessica is struggling to move. “No shit, you can’t hurt me. Do you realize that you wasted all your effort trying to get me to come here, return my powers, which I did not want and waste all that time while Hadriel is basically starting to rule in the mortal realm? Now, who are you and what idiot made you do all that?” Gabriel staring at Jessica. “You know, you really are a jerk for an Angel. I told you, our father sent me to get you back here.” Jessica took a deep breath. “I’ve only existed as long as you known me Gabriel.” Jessica could start moving her body. “You’re letting me go?” “Yea. You’re telling me the truth.” Gabriel walked over to her. Personal space didn’t exactly exist at this point. “One thing is for certain.” Gabriel looked all around the room. The objects of ancient myth are blazing right at him. “I know Hadriel and there is no way he would let you get this far.” Gabriel turned toward Jessica. “Someone else had to
be helping him.” Jessica started to slightly laugh. A laugh as a child would do. “Gabriel. There is a lot you need to be filled in with.” Jessica took his hand. “Please, you have to know you can’t trust me by now. Please come with me.” Jessica led him into a long hall way just past angelic statues. As they continued walking the statues started to slightly change. Their appearance became darker. Their bone structure more grim. The angels were slowly turning demonic. “We are here.” Gabriel looked lost. “I know all about angelic history even dating back to the demon mother Lilith. But this place, I don’t get it.” Gabriel took a step back. “By the name of my father.” Gabriel looked frightened. “We are by the chamber of birth.” “Yes.” Jessica looked relieved. Finally her duty is almost complete. “Gabriel in this chamber, this is where everything will be answered.” Jessica stood proud. “Go.” “If am going to go in there, then you are coming with me.” Gabriel sternly looked at Jessica. “I’m not kidding.” “If I enter that room, I will burn by the wrath of God himself.” Jessica started to sweat. “I’m Gabriel, one of the highest commanding Angels. The only angel next to me in power is Hadriel, followed by the first of the council . You will not burn because I want you with me.” Gabriel took her hand. A warm sensation went through her body and peace was bestowed upon her.
~The council, eons ago stood for power and glory. But soon after creation, the Angels themselves grew corrupted except one. Ezekiel, the right hand of God stood proud and protected the heavens. During the battles, Ezekiel sacrificed himself to incinerate all corruption and save Heaven. ~
As the two of them entered only darkness is seen. Shortly following, a hellfire erupted.
Hadriel stood secure in his demonic underworld. “Forget werewolves. Let’s bring children of black blood forth.” Hadriel held a ceremonial knife in hand. Slowly he slit his wrist and blood started streaming onto the ground. The blood didn’t hit the ground but rather began to float upon the air. The wound on Hadriel wrist healed almost instantly. As the blood floated, a bright sight happens. Blue and purple electricity appeared and forth came a portal. “Children of the mother. Children of the half-blood king. Come forth and serve in the destruction of the light.” As Hadriel finished a being came forth from his blood. The being himself was practically translucent. A being made of water and shadow approached Hadriel. “What is your will master.” The being talked deeply and firmly looked at Hadriel. “I will be honest. You will be killed. Gabriel is not your target. Accompanying him is an angel named Jessica. I feel she has the essence of Eve, the first of hybrids. Kill her if you can. Your sacrifice will not go in vein.” Hadriel dispersed in a ball of demonic fire and the demon grinned. “Yes master”.
~ Demons of water are ancient. A being made by one of the elements, it is designated power beyond control. ~
As the hellfire ceased, Gabriel could make more of the room out. “This is the Lords Court.” Gabriel laughed. “One came to me and dismissed my test. You knew about that didn’t you?” His eyes glazed and Jessica as if she was the center of the room. “I was sent here by our father. That’s all I know I swear.” Jessica seemed nervous. “I really do not want to be here.” Any Angel or Demon is terrified by Lords.
~It is said that the Lords are the first angels ever created. Lord of Truth, Lord of
Power and The leader, Lord of Life and Death. Only their counterparts rival them. ~
Gabriel looks at Jessica. This look however was different. Gabriel showed concern and affection. “Jessica, please stay here.” Gabriel proceeded and was stopped by an invisible force. “Who enters our sacred chamber?” Voices echoed. The voices are strong. “You know who I am. The angel behind me is Jessica, sent by my holy celestial father. I need answers.” Gabriel’s smirked. “No, I demand answers.” Jessica stood behind him. “Gabriel.” This time an older more comionate voice spoke. “My friend, we meet here so soon.” The voice slowly echoed out and a being of light and darkness appeared. “I see Jessica is with you.” The Lord of Life and Death appeared as before but, this time less stable. “What do you need of me?” The Lord forced the words out. Gabriel shot a look at Jessica. “Leave.” Jessica became confused, but did what he said. “I needed her to come in to show and prove I trust her. Forgive me if I disrespected my lord.” A new Gabriel spoke. This was a man who is humble, a man who respects authority. “My brother Gabriel. You show no disrespect. You are equal as is Hadriel must I say.” The Lord looked down upon the ground. “Lord.” Gabriel’s voice was soft. “Please tell me why this is my life.” Gabriel dropped to his knees. “I broke the sacred law of denouncing my powers. Why am I here now?” The Lord looked at Gabriel and made him rise. “I said you are my equal. You will not bow to me.” The Lord stepped closer as he limped. “You and Hadriel are my descendants.” Gabriel’s heart stopped. “Descendants?” Of course Gabriel knew what that meant. But, why Hadriel and himself? The demon of water finally arrived in the Angelic realm. “Eons since I have
smelt Angelic blood.” The demon transformed himself into an angelic townsfolk and proceeded to town. Meanwhile Hadriel no longer hid in the underworld. Instead he walked among humans. “Excuse me sir, where are you off too, if you don’t mind me asking.” Hadriel smirked and waited for an answer. “Mind your own dam business!” The man said rudely as he walked away. “This is why mortals should die.” As Hadriel finished the sentence, the mortal dropped dead in the street, hitting the ground like a rock. “Such rude people.” Hadriel continued walking down the street. Gabriel then looked behind the Lord as he spoke. “My Lord, I know my purpose is to stop Hadriel. But, why is Jessica here? It pains me so much. Everything about her is-” The Lord interrupted. “She is the Angel of Hope.” The Lord coughed between sentences. “She is Eve reincarnated and made only for your Angelic Resurrection.” The Lord laughed. “That’s all you need to know about her.” “I’m drawn to her my Lord.” Gabriel looked uneasy. “One more question.” Gabriel took a deep a breath. “I know you know I’m not dumb.” Immediately Gabriel knew how he was sounding. “I just need a simple yes or no.” Gabriel took a deep a breath. “You are The Lord of Life and Death. Hadriel is my counterpart.” The Lord sensed he has figured it out. “Are you dying my Lord?” Gabriel ended his question with a tear that fell. Light bounced off as if his tears were diamonds. “Yes.” The Lord answered and vanished in thin air. Gabriel’s heart sunk. “Crap.” Gabriel put his hands on his face and slowly walked outside. Jessica was awaiting him. “Did you get everything answered?” Jessica’s face looked concerned. “I know everything I need to know.” Gabriel walked closely to Jessica. As he did his soft lips touched her cheek. “You’re safe with me.” Gabriel continued walking and Jessica followed.
Echoes of screams are heard from town. “We have to help!” Jessica started to teleport but Gabriel pulled her back. “I got this.” Gabriel walked away but kept an eye on her. “This demon is definitely out of your league.” Of course Gabriel knew different. Being the same blood from Eve meant Jessica was superior to demons in almost every way.
~Eve. First of all Female angels. The mark of true loved bestowed upon her. As well as her curse. ~
Gabriel cracked his neck and his wings fanned out. He turned his head left and right and finally smiled. “These I definitely missed.” He starred at the enormous wings as the light bounced off of them. “Let’s have some fun.” Gabriel dispersed into a bright light. The demon is massive. His movements are fluent and deadly just as water itself. His personality is darker than darkness. “Where is Jessica?” As he walked angel to angel the same question is asked. “Where is Jessica?” After every disappointing answer he received, the rage in him grew. Beams of light appeared before him and dozens of angelic soldiers appeared. The commander spoke with strong authority. “Demon!” The Angels voice is strong. “Surrender or die.” As soon as the word “die” came from his lips, all the angels drew their swords. These however are not regular swords. The Heavens being fully prepared for anything has a limitless arsenal. “How clever.” The demon glared at the swords. Ones not made by metal or light. But the blades made from lightning itself. “However.” The demon continued. “You will have to strike me first.” The demon grinned and in one quick movement, pillars of water erupted from the ground drowning each and every one of them. “Foolish. What good are weapons if the wielder himself is incompetent?” The demon felt a flash of warm light behind him. “Gabriel.” “Well, you’re a big one aren’t ya?” Gabriel not wasting time already has his sword in hand and standing in a battle stance. “Hadriel sent you, didn’t he?”
“Lord Hadriel did indeed. But, not for you. My orders are to kill your female companion.” The demons form slightly changed. The darkness flowing through him rapidly grew into somewhat of a muscular system. “Lord? Well looks like someone is moving on up.” Gabriel quickly dashed towards the demon that in which just stood there. As Gabriel managed to hit him, he continued right through his body. “You didn’t think that would work did you?” The demon mocking Gabriel created an orb of water in his hand. “Oh nice. We’re going to have a water fight; maybe I should go get my swim suit.” Gabriel smirked at the demon. The orb of water began to glow. “Ok this is new.” “I’m not just a water demon. My Lord infused me with essence of pure demonic energy.” The orb in his hand started to grow in size and little dark balls orbited around. “Good bye Gabriel.” The demon threw the orb at Gabriel who dodged. However the ball seemed to follow him. “Damn.” Gabriel using his sword batted the ball away forcing it to explode. The explosion of the orb sent Gabriel flying back crashing him onto the ground hard. Coughing, Gabriel slowly stood up. “Ok, no more messing around.” Gabriel spotted the electrified swords behind the demon. “One more time.” Gabriel started to dash at the demon. Just as last time the demon allowed it and Gabriel ran right through him. “Pathetic angel.” The demon stomped the ground and pillars of water exploded from the ground surrounding Gabriel. “Sorry big boy.” Gabriel picked one of the electrified swords up and threw it into the demon. The demon himself lit up and electricity started to flow in his body. The pillars surrounding Gabriel seemed to be getting closer together. “A little electricity isn’t going to stop me.” The demon grew larger. “No wonder Hadriel doesn’t care about you.” The demon pointed his hand at Gabriel and made the pillars engulf him in water. Staring at the demon and not being able to do anything, Gabriel concentrates his powers and all his strength on the rest of the swords. As he did the swords started to levitate and surround the demon. “This again?” The demon made the water surrounding Gabriel cold as ice. As
the water became colder the swords surrounding the demon formed a cage of lightning. “What!” The demon stopped moving and yelled in anger. “You will die first!” Not being able to speak and practically frozen, Gabriel put the middle finger up right at the demon. He then forced his hand forward and out from thin air, his sword went through the electrified cage and stopped mid-way in the demons body. Acting as a conductor, lightning exploded within the demon. Gabriel fell to the ground as the water did the same. Gabriel watched as the demon started to slowly turn to steam. “Piece of cake.” Gabriel got up slowly and walked away. “…” Gabriel looked back. “What the hell now.” The demon no longer made of water, but pure shadow instead. “Hadriel is getting creative.” Gabriel’s sword flew back into his hand and started to glow a bright white and blue. The sword itself knew this is going to be a tough battle. The demon disappeared and Gabriel became confused. Within seconds the shadows all around Gabriel surrounded him and constricted his body. How is he supposed to fight a shadow? “This is taking way to long.” Jessica pacing back and forth where Gabriel left her. “Screw it, I’m going.” Jessica attempted to teleport, but she couldn’t. “What?” A voice echoed in her head. Gabriel will win. “Who are you?” Jessica became uneasy. Your duty is done. Your powers are no more. Jessica knew this would happen. “Gabriel.” Gabriel screams in pain. Never in his Angelic life has pain been this great. Out of nowhere Gabriel ed an old scripture telling about a demon of legend.
~A demon of so much darkness. Darkness and anger consumed the being. The hand of the great angel Ezekiel had to stop him. ~
“I’m better than Ezekiel.” Gabriel looked upon the sky and roared. All city and townsfolk came from hiding to see a sight they thought they never would again. Gabriel, defending the Heavens. “I am the descendent of Lords. I am greater of the original Angels.” Gabriel talks to himself in order to stay calm. The grasp of
the shadows became stronger and a purple light emitted from them. As Gabriel started to fade memories ran through his head.
[Hadriel killing his wife] [Gabriel killing Hadriel] [Jessica sacrificing herself for him]
“No!” Gabriel with determination yelled once more which made his body light up. Jessica stood worried. “Gabriel…” “This can’t be.” Hadriel observed in his pathetic underworld hideout. The light around Gabriel exploded. The shadows dispersed and Gabriel stood free.
~The Great Ezekiel burned white fire around himself, incinerating the shadow. ~
A town’s folk spoke gently. “The Heavens Fire.” All watched Gabriel in amazement. “Yes!” Jessica could sense Gabriel won. “Angel.” A voice was heard behind her. “Turn or die.” Jessica’s heart began to pound. “Hadriel.” Jessica turned slowly. “I sense a powerful essence in you. Yet no power, very interesting.” Hadriel stepped closer. “Have my old friend meet me at the abandoned church tonight.” Hadriel turned into a ball of fire and disappeared.
Gabriel quickly went straight to Jessica when he felt Hadriels presence. “Where is he?” Gabriel waited. “Jessica, where!” “He said meet him at the abandoned church tonight. I guess the one in the mortal realm.” Jessica looks so pale. “You have no more powers?” Gabriel took a breath. “Your job is done.” Gabriel took her hand. “You stay with me. Don’t leave my side unless I say otherwise.” Jessica nodded. “He is growing too strong.” Hadriel, talking out loud. He is alone in the abandoned church. Hadriel grew with anger and punched a hole in the wall. Footsteps are heard behind. “You liar!” Nathaniel came forth. “You said none of my kind would be killed. My greatest general was just decapitated by Gabriel!” “Do not dare raise your voice!” Hadriels eyes became lit with fire. “I told you the female angel would stand no chance. I didn’t say anything about Gabriel.” Hadriel turned towards the wolf. “Your all mighty general couldn’t even kill an angel who only lived for 2 weeks!” Hadriel put his hand on the werewolf’s throat and started to crush his bones. “You’re nothing.” Hadriel pulled his head off with one quick yank. Darkness surrounded Hadriel. Later that night Gabriel slowly approached the church. Jessica stayed behind him. As Gabriel entered the church trails of fire lit the inside. “Still dramatic I see.” Gabriel took Jessica’s hand in a firm grip and made her sit in a pew. “Let’s hurry this along.” Gabriel continued to walk forward, as he did he stumbled on a head without a body. Jessica stood up to peak a look. “Gabriel!” Jessica screamed out. “That’s the first werewolf’s head.” Jessica continued to stand. “Hadriel come out now!” Gabriel looked to his right. “Come sit old friend.” Hadriel awaited Gabriel who slowly walked over and sat. “It’s been a while.” “Didn’t I kill you?” Gabriel smirked right at Hadriel.
“What’s that saying; through death they shall be reborn. It is our birthright motto so to say.” Hadriel looked behind him. “You’re interested in that angel aren’t you?” “She is still a mystery to me.” Gabriel looked to the ground and then back up to the altar in front of him. “All you have to do is just give up and all this can be over. The high court of the heavens will sentence you fairly.” Gabriel didn’t even look at him. “You can always me.” Hadriel laughed and continued talking. “We both know how this is going to end.” “So be it.” Gabriel stood up and walked away. “Gabriel.” Hadriel stopped him. “Good luck.” Jessica stood and watched how Gabriel just walked away and Hadriel let him. At first she was confused but now she understands. They officially chose to be enemies for good. From this point on, it’s fight to the end. “Only one shall live.” Jessica followed Gabriel out of the church.
~So it was written. Eons ago, bloodlines would be fused. The celestial law, one above all. Two great powers shall do battle until the supreme ruler is decided. Death shall choose. ~
Jessica starred at Gabriel as he just sat motionless in his apartment. He seems different to her now. More depressed, more confined within him. “Gabriel?” Jessica softly spoke. “Gabriel, we have to do something. Sitting here isn’t going to do anything.” Gabriel stood up and went into the kitchen. He picked a bottle of tequila up from the counter and just starred at it. “No point in alcohol when you’re an angel.” Gabriel out of anger threw the bottle against the wall. Jessica was surprised and pressed herself against the couch. “Being the first just doesn’t make you in control of all others.” Gabriel started to talk as if he was in a conversation already. “It means you are the strongest. It means you are the fastest. It means you are invulnerable to all that
follow.” Gabriel looked at Jessica as if his eyes were daggers. “The followers do not obey because of a blood trait. They obey out of sheer fear.” Gabriel started to pull his hair. “Hadriel without fear presented speed and power greater of a being that is centuries older than himself.” Gabriel sat back onto the couch. “If you’re equal to strength of Hadriel, what do you care? You have the same speed and power.” Jessica giggled. “I think you’re over thinking things.” “He killed the leader of the heard. He has full power of the rest. You get it now?” Gabriel stood up once more. “He now controls every single werewolf.” Jessica could sense he was nervous. She stood up onto her tip toes and touched Gabriel’s lips with her hers. “What was that for?” Gabriel softly asked while not being able to stop smiling. “Just go with it.” Jessica continued to kiss Gabriel. Her hands ran through his shirt onto his chest. Slowly peeling his clothes off, she could feel Gabriel’s heart race. His hands grabbed her neck and forcefully threw her on the couch. Being on top Gabriel took control as Jessica took her shirt off followed by her pants. “Feeling better yet?” Jessica whispers soft comments in his ear. Running his hand up and down her thighs, Jessica starts to breath heavy. Gabriel inserted himself into her and she continued to moan. The night continued and Gabriel lied awake as Jessica peacefully slept. She can’t stay here. Gabriel continued to think to himself. Am I reborn like Hadriel? Gabriel slowly and carefully removed Jessica’s arm from his bare chest and got off the couch. Gently taking footsteps in the nude to not wake Jessica up, Gabriel walked over to his window overlooking the streets of the mortal realm. “I can sense everything again.” Gabriel took a deep breath. “Every heartbeat, every evil thought.” Gabriel walked away from the window and looked upon Jessica sleeping. “There is still a secret you’re not telling me.” Gabriel carefully and quietly put some clothes on and went outside. The moon is enormous in size. The stars are brighter than ever and Gabriel is lost in his mind. It’s no earlier than 4 am and he finds himself alone walking the streets. “I’m tired of this shit.” Gabriel looked up at the sky. “Where are you?” Gabriel becoming enraged. “You’re just not supposed to disappear!” Street lights started to flicker. Within seconds explosions came from the lights.
“You won’t find him Gabriel.” The Lord of Truth and The Lord of Power appeared. The Lord of Power continued. “You are on your own. This is a fight between you and Hadriel.” The Lord of Power then vanished and left Truth and Gabriel alone. “What? You’re not going to disappear like your buddy over there?” Gabriel talked calmer this time. “You shouldn’t leave Jessica alone.” The Lord of Truth vanished also. “Jessica.” Gabriel warped right back to his apartment and found a couch without Jessica on it. The essence of the room reeked of Hadriel. “He took her.” Gabriel immediately closed his eyes and tried to pinpoint the sense of Hadriel. “Of course the church.” Gabriel quickly warped there and found Jessica chained to the altar half naked and bleeding. “Jessica!” Gabriel started to run to her. “Don’t you dare Angel.” A monstrous werewolf blocked his path. All around Gabriel, werewolves are climbing walls, waiting for the kill command. “Attack!” All at once every single werewolf leaped at Gabriel. Without hesitation Gabriel in an orb of light drew his sword. In a whirlwind he beheaded all the werewolves in one motion. “Let her go.” The wolf let a laugh out that would give any one nightmares. The moons bright light shined through all of the busted windows and the heads of the decapitated wolves slid across and reconnected. Gabriel heart started to race. “This is new.” All the wolves rose once more. “Our new master granted us more power.” The bloodthirsty beast spoke. “Tonight, darkness shall reign.” The monstrosity of a wolf ran right toward Gabriel. In a quick thought Gabriel spanned his wings out and flew up to dodge, as he did werewolves piled on him bringing him down and tearing at his flesh with their claws. “Hold him down!” “Gabriel!” Jessica cried out as she could not do anything. The Lords could sense everything going on in their chambers. The Lord of Truth spoke. “It’s time. Everything that is written will be lost. Gabriel will hold his own fate in his hands.” The Lord looked at a feeble Lord of Life and Death. Lord of Power stood motionless as he spoke. “Great power shall be granted.
Through death they shall be reborn.” The entire pack of wolves held Gabriel down. “You see Gabriel. Your destiny is to die.” The monstrous of a wolf slowly walked over to Jessica. “Such a pity that a pretty angel must die.” The wolf without hesitation pierced his claws into Jessica’s heart. “No!” Time froze. Sounds were nonexistent. Everything is black except for the sight of Jessica dying. Gabriel screamed out and with a wave of power sent all the wolves flying back. “Not again.” Gabriel hit the ground as hard as he could and watched as his tears dropped, forming a small puddle. Gabriel could see his own reflection in the puddle. He stopped crying. As he continued to stare, his eyes turned white. “Finish Gabriel.” The commanding wolf gave the order. Gabriel stood up as if nothing has happened to him. A wolf went to bite his throat. Gabriel remained silent and still. He raised his hand and touched the wolf right in the head. His eyes shined a white smoky coloring and the wolf incinerated in a white holy fire. Gabriel’s wings also changed. The massive metal like feathers slowly started to fall to let free a new set. His wings are glowing with blue and white coloring as they flow freely in the air. “Everyone attack!” With that command all wolves lunged at Gabriel once more. Again Gabriel just stood there. Before the wolves could get near him this time, his wings tied half of them around their waists. The other half stopped the attack. Using his wings Gabriel lifted every wolf up into the air and in one breathe he constricted hard, deadly crushing their bones and dropping them to the ground. The wolves backed away except for the one in charge. The one that took Jessica’s life in one swipe. “I’ll kill you myself.” The wolf sprinted like a bullet towards Gabriel with his claws out. The wolf blinked for a second and Gabriel appeared behind him with his sword in hand. “Impossible.” The wolf fell on one knee, staring at the blood dripping from Gabriel’s sword. The monstrosity of a wolf fell to the ground to die. Gabriel starred at Jessica’s body. All remaining wolves ran out of the church and hid in the shadows. Gabriel’s eyes turned back to normal as he dropped onto his knees holding Jessica’s body in his arms.
~Through death they will be reborn. A prophecy older than time itself. ~
Chapter 7 WAR BEGINS
F eeling the events occurring, Hadriel didn’t feel an ounce of anger. He instead starts to laugh as a crazy person would. The prophecy became true; both creations became reborn with fantastic powers due to death. Hadriel looks around his chambers. Slowly, his emotion turns to hatred. Every piece he looks at makes him filled with disgust. For years he has been stronger than Gabriel and yet he is trapped in this disgusting hell, he calls his kingdom. “Over and over again. Gabriel defies the odds to overcome anything. I can’t let him this time. I am stronger. I am better. I am supposed to rule!” Hadriel yelling in anger forced all surrounding him to shake. Hadriel controlled his emotions and starred at a podium in front of him. The podium is gothic made of bones and soil. On top he rubbed his fingers gently across the bindings of a book. The book is massive that must weigh a ton. The cover is pure black with worn out burnt looking pages. “I refuse to lose. I will take over the Mortal Realm and Gabriel will fall.” The book began to open by itself. Stopping on a page, Hadriel looked and grinned. “This will do it.”
~The thirst of Conquest will always being War~
Back at the church, Gabriel is still watching Jessica. He is watching in hopes on a twitch or a blink or any sign of life in her. Her beauty is starting to diminish and her warmth is getting colder by the second. Gabriel is frozen where he kneels. Not being able to move a muscle himself he just allows the tears to poor from his eyes. Gabriel’s body begins to be filled with immense heat. His blood starts to boil as his tears dry as they fall. He breathes heavy and his muscles expand. The walls of the church start to shake and dust falls from all around. Practically collapsing the church from his own anger, Gabriel starts to stand. Clenching his fists so tight his own nails cut his skin and draw blood. As he walks forward, his steps make an impact so forceful the floor starts to crack. A voice is heard behind him. “Calm now Gabriel, control your emotions.” Gabriel looked back but no one is there to be soon. The voice is heard again.
“Anger will not allow you to win this war.” Gabriel heard that voice before. Gabriel being confused started to calm down. “Lord?” Gabriel spoke slowly. The voice of the once feeble Lord of Life and Death continued to echo. The essence of him still remained even though his spirit is gone. “Go get answers.” “Bring the angels body with you to the Lords Chambers.” The voiced faded away. Gabriel walked to Jessica’s body. Shaking as he kneeled he picked her up as gentle as he could. Before he warped to the Lords Chamber, he just starred. The Lord of Truth stood with the Lord of Power. Two deities, stood waiting for a being that will one day have the chance to rise in power above them. The chamber where they stand is designed unlike the rest of Heaven. The room is not welcoming or bright. It portrays emotional distress and terror. In the middle of the room is a huge pit that is slightly dipped into the ground. The design is dark marble with shimmers of diamonds that have been pressed in the floor for centuries. In the middle of the pit is a podium with what looks like a bowl on top. The Lords stood looking into it. “I was unaware of these actions that are seemingly taking place.” Truths tone is that of insecurity. He has always known what will happen. For once, the all mighty Lord seems powerless. The Lord of Power lifted his head up. “This is how it is supposed to be. We have been warned about these events since we became into power.” Power walked away slowly to leave Truth alone. Truth quickly spoke. “Wait!” His urgency made Power freeze in his tracks. “Gabriel is brining Jessica here. What are we supposed to do?” Power turned slowly and said the only thing he could. “Listen to Gabriel.” Two deities fall to nothing. Gabriel finally making it to the chambers sees the two Lords being disgruntled. He continued to walk toward carrying Jessica. He walked right up to Power. Without even a word, Power took Jessica’s body and Gabriel vanished in a bright light.
Truth looked at Power and vice versa. Truth then spoke. “We keep her body safe until Gabriel can fix this.” When Gabriel appeared again, he is back in the front part of the building. He looks all around at the artifacts that have been collected by various means. Most of it is useless such as pieces of armor and scraps of paper. He walks over to the book where The Keeper keeps for himself. This book tells everything. Shouldn’t this have some answers? When Gabriel approached it, the boom started to shake. Gabriel pressed his hand on the book and slowly opened it. In a massive whirlwind the book flipped through every single page until it landed on the 3 original Angels. The 3 original generals. Gabriel took a breath and spoke. “They have been dead since before the Lords.”
~Eve, Angel of Hope. Marcus, Angel of Triumph. Ezekiel, Angel of Honor. ~
Hadriel continues to read the page which flipped similar to Gabriel’s. However, Hadriel is not taken back. His heart begins to race out of excitement. He is staring at a page that is said to never even exist. “I will start the preparations. Gabriel cannot overcome this threat.” Hadriel closes the book and storms out of in a blazing fire.
~The true beings of power, The Horseman. Conquest shall bring them. War, shall conquer. Famine will bring sickness and Death shall decide the end. ~
Hadriel walks the mortal realm while being filled with hatred. The smells alone are making him appalled. “I will take over this realm and no one will stop me.” As soon as he finishes, time stops. Hadriel becomes confused as he is the only object in motion. “Whose here?” “So, no one can stop you huh?” A man in a white suit came forth from the shadows. “It seems to me you could possibly be wrong.” The man is middle aged but his structure is nothing but extraordinary. Hair blonde and his facial
structure is perfect. “Didn’t Gabriel stop you already?” The man laughed. “Well, actually he killed you. So your already losing. To add to that, he has his power, his true power. Your basically even.” The man in the suit didn’t even tremble once. Hadriel becoming agitated charged at the man. Without moving, the man made Hadriel stop dead in his tracks. “Wh-” Hadriel trying to talk. “Who are you?” “I am the person that can stop you in a heartbeat. I suggest you stop taking your time with this, as you grow in power so does he.” The man in the suit vanished and all time started again. Hadriel finally looks concerned. Who is this mystery man? Who could over power Hadriel who is apparently the most powerful being as of now? Hadriel snapped back into it and started to look around. The man is nowhere to be found. Hadriel started to breath and he gathered his head together. “I will raise the horseman and take over this realm. I don’t care what anyone says.” Hadriel kept walking to a nearby building. Gabriel stands thinking what this page means. He was told that Jessica has the essence of Eve in her. But, everything else is so strange. Becoming frustrated Gabriel started to lose it. “Why won’t anyone help!” Gabriel started to break down. Crying he starts to yell as loud as he can. “Please! Just help me!” Falling into his knees. “I can’t do this again.” A cool breeze is felt. Gabriel looks around and notices it is coming from the corner of the room. He slowly walks towards it. The air becomes colder as Gabriel becomes uneasy. A mist starts to blanket over one of the treasures ahead. Carefully moving over the items he fanned away the mist and under revealed an hourglass. Slowly Gabriel picked up and read the scripture on it.
~Sands of Time~
Gabriel closed his eyes and took the deepest breath. “Here goes nothing.” Quickly he turned the hourglass upside down and watched as the sand slowly falls. His environment started to change. All around him the colors were swirling around him. Walls were rearranging themselves and Angels were racing back
and forth. The sun set and rose over and over again along with dozens of moon falls. Finally Images started to slow down around him. When everything finally stopped Gabriel looked confused. “I just time traveled.” The treasures in the room are different. Much less and different ordered. When Gabriel walked outside he was nothing but surprise from what he can see. In the mortal realm, Hadriel finally reached where he was going. The center of the city where the most mortals can be harmed. “This spot will do.” Hadriel drew his sword out from thin air and slammed it into the ground. The sword began to glow bright red as Hadriel started to gain more focus. The color became more vibrant, the aura more lifelike and free moving. Reciting Latin, Hadriel started to chant.
~resurget frater meus, et ex jussu~
Over and over again he chanted the same thing. Minutes later the sky became dark. Stampedes are heard in the clouds and tremendous bolts of lightning started to strike the sword. Streaks of lightning started crushing down on the land and mortals started to run for their lives. Emerging from the bolts of lightning came a being in red armor with black trimming. He towered over Hadriel, yet he respected him. “Master Hadriel, what would you like?” As the being spoke, the sky roared louder. Hadriel proudly smirked and replied. “Ride on. Strike fear in all these mortals. Release your brother.” Out from the ground erupted a fiery blast that emerged a horse that is pure black. “Yes, master.” Conquest rode.
Chapter 8 RESURRECTION
G abriel looked up and can see a dragon flying over. The beast is majestic in every way. Dozens follow as the sun bounces off their skin. Gabriel kept walking as a dragon landed right in from of him not letting him . Gabriel received an emotion of warmth from the beast. “Do you know who I am?” Gabriel trying to communicate waits for an answer. A voice is heard behind him. “Gabe. I know who you are. I have been waiting for you.” Gabriel turned around and immediately lost his breath. He is locking eyes with the great Ezekiel. He was monstrous compared to him. His wings, armor and even his stance stood that greater of Gabriel. However, one thing is the same, Ezekiel had Gabriel’s sword. “Well, say something.” Ezekiel waited. “You have my sword?” Gabriel stuttered as he asked. “More like this is my sword and you have it years in the future. But, it is your birthright to get this sword.” Ezekiel walked right ed Gabriel and went to the dragon. Slowly he started to pet the dragon as if it’s his pet. “Magnificent creature, isn’t she?” The dragon roared and shot back at into the sky. “She’s my dragon. Soon, there won’t be any left and she can sense that.” Ezekiel turned back to face Gabriel. “You’re scared? But not of me, you’re scared of yourself aren’t you?” “How can you be so calm? You have the entire heaven realm to protect, what if you fail?” Gabriel finally spoke without any sarcasm. He spoke with fear in his voice. “Today is the day I die, Gabriel. Don’t you see? That’s the big picture. It’s not if I die, the only thing that matters is if my death means something.” Ezekiel turned towards the sky. “Our celestial father sacrificed much for us, he made it so I can sacrifice myself today in order from years from now, and you can have my sword.” Gabriel quickly became angry. “Our celestial father is a coward. He never does anything for himself. Instead he just watched as everyone dies.” Gabriel clenched his fist. “I will do nothing in his name.” Ezekiel grabbed his sword and put it right by Gabriel’s throat. “Watch your tongue young Angel. Do not speak about things you do not know of.” Ezekiel
withdrew his sword. “Now listen.” Ezekiel told Gabriel all he needs to know. As he started to speak the environment changed once more as if the two of them are stepping through a story book. “Eons ago. When the battle between heaven and hell started. Lucifer and our Father were always equally matched. The fight became tiresome. The two creators knew this had to stop. Both of them created generals to fight for them. The Horseman and the Angelic Council. However, we were still equally matched. I personally clashed swords with Death; the strong eat of the brethren. To no prevail would I have won. It was then when Lucifer had enough. He stepped in and struck Marcus down. With one of us fallen, the power tide had turned. Next to fall was Eve. My beautiful sister. I watched as War and Famine ripped her to pieces. It was then when our father finally stepped in. He puts a piece of himself in all of his creations. He told me to retreat without hesitation I listened. From behind me I sensed Death approaching, when I turned I saw a flash of light, then the only one left, was me.” “You see Gabriel, our father did step in. He also stepped in when he created you with my essence. You are my bloodline. Today takes place 100 years before your birth. Do you really think my death today, our meeting here is just coincidence? You better wake up.” Ezekiel looked towards the town. His dragon started flying over his head to alarm him. “You are more powerful than me Gabriel. That I can sense, but you are young, your power is still growing. You will face the Horseman; make sure you can finish what I couldn’t.” Ezekiel in a beam of light vanished. Gabriel is stunned. The greatest bloodline of angels is part of him. He shot his head quickly when hearing screams from town. Following his first instinct he went after. Crashing down landing is Ezekiel’s dragon blocking him. “Let me go, I need to help” the dragon looks sad. She sighed and shook her head no. “But I can help! He doesn’t have to die!” As Gabriel finished, just as the scriptures said, a flash of holy fire lit the sky as Ezekiel sacrificed himself. The dragon got up and starred at Gabriel who is on the ground. The dragon roared right in his face. Gabriel stood up and starred at the dragon. Again the dragon roared at Gabriel. Seconds later Gabriel’s eyes changed. The demeanor of his body language is totally different. He seems stronger, more focused. The dragon growled and flew away. “No more running.” Gabriel became back in the
present. Jessica’s body continues to be watched by the Lords. The two just watch helpless. Lord of Power spoke. “We must do it.” He shot right at Truth. “You know we have to. Gabriel can’t do this on his own.” Truth stood erect. “I agree.” Both Lords put their hands over Jessica’s body. All three started to emit light. A sight of electricity surrounded the room as Jessica’s body started to gain warmth back. The Lords started to become weak. “Keep going.” Truth speaks as he starts to fall. The electricity is growing every second. Jessica’s body starts to twitch. The room flashes white and just Jessica is left. The Lords are nowhere. The light is gone. It’s quiet. There is an eerie feel filling the air. Jessica’s body started to gain color back as her eyes open. Conquest rides vigorously through the streets. But his torment doesn’t stop there. As the air becomes filled, the wind takes his power across the globe affecting all he can. Pillaging, riots and murders, anything a person can do in order to cause havoc. As blood and violence continues to poor, the ground starts to shake once more. Three horses come from the shadows. Each have those own armor and their own size. Three men come walking out behind them. Each has matching armor to the horse. War, pure black surrounds him. Famine, armor of all green. Death, the most powerful of all. He didn’t wear armor. But why would he need to? Death doesn’t answer to anyone. No, he is in a black suit and walks away from his brothers leaving even his horse behind. “Death! I command you to stop.” Hadriel racing over. His four greatest warriors he could ask for are right in front of him. “You will turn and face me like your brothers.” Death looks at him and smirks. As he walks over to face Hadriel he laughs fight at him. “I obey only one. That one is not you.” Death vanished in a mist of purple smoke. Hadriel infuriated made the Horseman to do those duties and cleanse the mortal realm. All three brothers obeyed.
Chapter 9 ANARCHY
T he Horseman rode the streets filling all the souls with despair and ruin. Everyone that is affected is found either beating each other, robbing or literally dying of sickness. Even countries across the oceans are starting wars on each other for no apparent reason. The power of The Horseman shows the weak minded of the Mortal Realm. Hadriel walks around just watching the entire mayhem of the apparent “apocalypse” he has in his head. Something does seem off. Besides the fact Death is nowhere to be found, he can sense an angelic force awakening. Hadriel cannot believe what he is sensing. Jessica is alive once again. But, this time she is different. She is more powerful. “Death!” Hadriel commanding Deaths presence, but he did not show. “Death, I command you to listen to me or I will send your empty shell of a demon back to your cage!” This time Death is sensed behind him. “Yes, what would you like our foolish leader?” Death mocks Hadriel as not only a leader but a threat as well. “Well, come on now, what do you need from me?” “Your sarcasm is not needed slave. How did Jessica rise?” Hadriel foolishly talking to Death. Death laughed at the question. Why would he care? He is the aspect of death. Can he even die? Death answers. “I can sense that she has immense power from two beings. The Lord of Truth and The Lord of Power. It seems your plans are faulting. Is that all you need of me?” Death smiled as he finished talking. He stares at Hadriel seeing who will blink first. Not a single word is responded from Hadriel. Death walks away. He is stopped by Hadriel finally speaking. “I wonder if I killed one of your brethren if you would listen to me?” Hadriel practically blackmailing Death. “Then I would simply bring them back. What do you not understand you foolish young fallen angel? How can you even call yourself a leader? I am Death itself. Kill anyone you want, with a snap of my fingers they will live again. Just like with a snap of my fingers you will fall on my command.” Death finally having enough walked right in front of Hadriel. “Try me.” Death vanished with haste. Hadriel didn’t move a muscle. He tries but he can’t. He isn’t under a spell nor is he afraid. He is just for a loss of emotions. “Hadriel!” A deep, angry and
powerful voice is heard. “Fight me and let’s end this.” Gabriel is found behind him marching slowly with his head up proud. Hadriel is witnessing a different Gabriel than before. “Now why would I fight you when I can have my friends do it?” Immediately War and Famine came stampeding over. “Take care of this nuisance for me. I must find your brother and have a chat with him.” Hadriel walked away and Gabriel is left outnumbered. Gabriel wasting no time spanned his wings out and dashed right towards the two Horsemen. Charging right into War, Gabriel felt like he hit a wall of iron making him collapse onto the ground. Famine swung his sword down at him causing Gabriel to just dodge it. The horses they ride on started to stomp the ground making Gabriel force to dodge and move. Gabriel finally gains an opening and slices one of the horses neck. As the horse collapses, War is found on his back. Gabriel quickly jumps up and goes back on his guard. Famine hurried his horse towards Gabriel. With one swift Famine struck Gabriel causing immense pain. The cut started to immediately pulsate within his body. What would usually take days of an infection immediately began. Chills filled his body as the cold sweat starts to pour out of him. The two Horsemen stood above Gabriel. “Wha-” Gabriel suffocating on his words. “What is happening?” Gabriel gathered all the energy he has to stand up with sword in hand. “That’s all. You think a little slice of your sword is going to stop me.” Barely able to stand Gabriel stomped the ground to get himself grounded. War and Famine looked at his resilience. War walked I front of Gabriel and pushed him down as if he is a rag doll. War calmly spoke. “Such a shame I must kill you.” War picked his sword up and swung it above his head. With haste the sword came crashing straight for Gabriel. With pure instinct, Gabriel managed to clash his sword to block. The strength match went on. A tug of war between two beings that have limitless power. “Stop Angel, you will lose. Famines power is already weakening you. Death is sure to come.” Gabriel gripped his sword tighter. His veins began to pop under his skin due to his overwhelming strength. Slowly he started to overpower War. “I am Gabriel. I am the blood line of Ezekiel, the greatest warrior of history.” Gabriel’s legs began to shake. His muscles are withering. The disease in his body is taking the
biggest toll. Gabriel couldn’t stand anymore. Falling on one knee he started to lose his grip. War finally knocked his sword out of his hand. Pressing the tip onto Gabriel’s chest, War started pushing the blade forward. The sky lit. Rays of sunlight beamed thru the sky. Crashing down landed an angel of immense beauty. “Get away from Gabriel.” Jessica stood stronger than ever. “She pointed her sword straight at War. Emitting a beam of light from it, War became pushed back from the force. Gabriel’s eyes began to close as his mind started to drift. In a sense of possible disillusion Gabriel is standing in a room that’s all white. Ahead of him sat Death. “Hello Gabriel, such a pleasure. I am Death, the Horseman that will never die. So you might as well stop worrying .” Death stood up and just circled Gabriel in a slow walk. “Before you start to think, no you’re not died. But, you will be soon though. My brothers’ power of infection is rather deadly.” Gabriel is not sick in this place, whatever place this is. “Why are you hiding? Can’t you just kill everything in one snap?” Gabriel sounding rather sarcastic actually amused Death. “I missed Angels like you. You see this whole war between good vs evil, heaven vs hell and mortal’s vs mortal’s. It doesn’t matter. Nothing matters as long as people are still stupid.” Death put his finger on Gabriel. “You see if you kill anything that I want alive, then you think that will actually work?” Death laughed. “No one gets it. Lucky for you, I don’t care if my brothers live. They are slaves anyway.” Death kneeled in front of Gabriel. “This war will continue until your celestial father and my demonic maker is dead. But even then, I will be the one living.” Gabriel started to breath heavy. This isn’t anything he expected. “You want to rule don’t you?” Gabriel tried to get up but he couldn’t. Shaking his body trying to break free. “That’s why you were trapped. God knew he couldn’t kill you.” Gabriel kept breathing. Death smiled. “I think this has come to an end.” Deaths mannerisms became serious. “Kill Hadriel, my brothers will not give you any more problems. But, you will see me again.” With a snap of his fingers, Gabriel opened his eyes and
is back on the ground in the mortal realm. “Gabriel!” Jessica hovered over him gazing into his eyes. “Why do I always have to save you?” Jessica chuckled and helped him up. “Your wound is healed.” As soon as Gabriel stood up, he immediately starts to kiss Jessica. “How did you come back?” Gabriel insanely shocked isn’t even sure if this is real or not. “The Lords sacrificed their powers to bring me back.” Jessica smiled.
Chapter 10 TRICKS ON YOU
H adriel continues to be filled with anger as he continues to walk the mortal realm. The only thing going according to plan is the fact the mortals are pulling each other apart. - Jessica is alive. -Gabriel alive. -The Horseman do not obey him-. What else must he do? “Huh?” Hadriel spots that man again. He is wearing the same clean cut white suit. “He has to be involved with this disobedience.” Hadriel rushed over and confronted him. Before he could speak, Hadriel started to choke. “Do not even bother.” The man in the suit calmly talks. “I know exactly what you want, you need my help.” The man in the suit turned to lock eyes with Hadriel. “If I help you, then you help me. Deal?” Hadriel being able to breath now inhaled as many breaths as he could at a quick pace. Deeply in and deeply out he regained his air. “What is it you need help with?” The man looked pleased. Such an easy way to get what he desires. “We have to get rid of Death. He is being defiant and wants to rule over all. I know how to. I know how to get rid of the entire Horseman.” Being baffled Hadriel suddenly perked up. Should he work with him? What if he gets double crossed? “Who are you?” Hadriel stands erect. “That is not a concern right now.” The man in the suit started to become uneasy and angered. “Notice how Conquest is never around now? Kill him and the rest will follow. He is the key to their prison, even Deaths.” The man took a deep breath in. “Understand?” While waiting for a reply he grew tiresome. His eyes started to became pure black. “Do this or lose.” Erupting from the grounds shadowed surrounded the man and vanished with them. “Kill conquest. Fine, where can he be?” Hadriel had to focus as much energy as he could in order to even sense him. “That’s impossible.” Hadriel could sense him faintly. He focused more strength onto Conquest. His body started to shake and he is now breathing heavy. “Got him.” Hadriel instantly warped right by Conquest. Both of them are now in an alley. Conquest is seemed to be hiding out as his job
is now to just stay alive. Hadriel drew his sword and approached. “Conquest, your services are no longer needed.” Conquest stepped down from his house and faced Hadriel. “Hadriel, you do not know what you are doing.” Conquest wastes no time in starting the battle. As their swords clashed sparks are created. The clouds roars and rain starts to pour out of the sky. Their speed is matched as is everything else. Punch for punch and kick for kick the two fight on in a battle that can seem to last for a decades. Gabriel and Jessica are scurrying the realm fighting off any demons that are running the streets. Trying to find a Horseman or even Hadriel is impossible at this point. “Gabriel, we need to figure something out!” Jessica speaks as she continues to slay enemies. She is covered with black blood from head to toe. “Eventually we are going to be outnumbered, they just keep coming!” Yelling across the seemingly battlefield Gabriel knows she is right. “Quick, fly up to the air!” Gabriel giving orders to Jessica as the old commander he was. As soon as she did, Gabriel let out an overpowering tell that caused magical pulses radiate from his body, killing all demons surrounding them. “Can you sense Hadriel or see him at all?” Jessica looks all around. Her head stops. “Up here, Hadriel is fighting Conquest.” Gabriel blind Jessica and he sees for himself. “What should we do? Let them kill each other?” Jessica waiting for an answer. “There has to be a reason why he is fighting him. I know how he thinks.” Gabriel shot right at the two battling and forcefully landed right behind conquest. “Just like old times huh?” Gabriel put both hands on his sword ready to fight. “I guess so, old friend.” Hadriel regroup and took his battle stance as well. Conquest welcomed the challenge. Gabriel using his wings restrained Conquests arms as Hadriel went for a strike. Successfully striking Conquest let a war cry out that alerted his brothers. From the shadows, War and Famine arrived unmounted. “Oh come on.” Hadriel dodged under Conquest and ed Gabriel by his side. “You really had to go this far didn’t you?” Gabriel lecturing Hadriel. “You couldn’t just let this shit go!” Hadriel shot a death look at Gabriel and decided to
ignore what he said. Jessica ed the two of them. “There, now it’s even.” Jessica made sure to stand between the two boys. The six of them stood to face off.
-So as it was eons ago it is so again. The three bloodlines of the greatest angelic warriors stood brave against The Horseman.-
The man in the suit stood proud. Looking down at them battling he couldn’t ask for anything better. Death approached him from the back. “Master, is this your plan?” The man in the suit replied. “Yes, I needed you free, Hadriel had enough power for that, and I am still too weak. Come now, we need to get an old friend of mine.” Death and the man vanished. The six beings battled. Jessica is by the far the fastest one. Dodging everything Famine is throwing to her. Hadriel is equally powered to Conquest. War is different. His anger and battle spirit is that above all of them. Gabriel is standing his ground. Not being able to overthrow his power, Gabriel could only use what he has the most of, skill. “Alright big boy, let’s see what you got.” Gabriel sprung right over Wars head with one flip allowing him to slice his back with his sword. War didn’t flinch, in fact the wound healed instantly. “Oh what the hell!” Gabriel shot a look at Hadriel. “Any idea what to do?” Hadriel out of breath slides out of the way on conquest. “We have to kill Conquest, and then The Horseman will return to their prison.” Gabriel knowing this is almost impossible. Tow immortal beings will always act as shields. Jessica landed hard in front of the both of them. “Gabe, this is ridiculous.” Jessica stood up and pretended not to notice all the bruises on her body. “Any ideas?” Famine came rushing in crashing in the middle splitting them all up. War then swung his sword and managed to get Jessica’s leg. Gabriel’s eyes lit a bright blue. He flew in the sky causing light to break. The man in the suit and Death
sensed a great power awakening. Hadriel taking advantage of the distraction manifested a ring of fire around each and every Horseman creating his own prisons. Jessica stood in brutal pain and threw her sword towards Conquest. As the sword flew, Gabriel came crashing down simultaneously. Being distracted Conquest went to catch the sword leaving Gabriel open. As his speed picked up, Gabriel become engulfed in a blue aura. Intensifying every second he darted and struck Conquest head on. The impact created a massive explosion. Wind started knocking buildings over and half the city became in ruin. When the dust cleared, Gabriel stood strong. Only the armor of Conquest was left on the ground. The two remaining Horsemen trembled. The muscles started giving out as both of them kneeled. An electrified field surrounded each of them incinerating then to their prison. Death smirks. “Master, your plans always have a way of working.” Death looked at the man with proud stature. “Shall I begin the ritual?” The two of them are together in a more kings like throne room. In the middle is a ritual pit filled with bones and blood. A gigantic table with demonic carvings and the head chair is that of a throne. “Yes.” The man laughed. “I love myself. This is amazing. One more chess piece and then I can finish what I started.” The man left Death alone. The dust clears completely. Gabriel catching his breath just points a dead cold stare at Hadriel. The two of them walk towards each other. “Jessica, leave.” Gabriel gives the command and she obeys without question. “This is it, we end this now.” “Good bye old friend.” Hadriel takes his stance.
Chapter 11 END OF BROTHERHOODS
T he two of the just wait. The air itself is filled with so much death already. Destruction is immense all around. Both of them are already badly beaten. Gabriel makes the first move. Levitating just enough to remove his feet from the ground, he swiftly uses his wings to move faster than Hadriel has ever seen. Gabriel collides straight forward and both of them crash into a building debris up to blocks away. Without even using his sword, Gabriel pounds as hard as he can make sure to break the first bloom between them. In a heartbeat Hadriel does a hard head butt allowing him to flip the two of them over. Choking and slamming Gabriel’s head onto the ground, Hadriel breaks the pavement more and more with every slam. “You could have ed me!” Hadriel now beats his hands on Gabriel’s chest. “Now you must die.” Reaching up to the air Hadriel forms a ball of fire and slams it into Gabriel’s chest. Gabriel can feel the burning. “You can’t win.” One more time Hadriel goes for it. Gabriel yells and instantly from the clouds a bolt of lightning strikes Hadriel, electrifying his body. “This fight is not going to be that easy for you.” Gabriel kicks away and draws his sword. Hadriel not being stunned anymore does the same. The two clashed swords as the two used every piece of their energy. The more they used the more it seems like they gain. Just fighting each other seems to make them better in every way imaginable. The sparks continue to flare as medal hits medal. A fiery rage is seen in each other’s eyes. Both wrathful continue to fight until the victor is decided. The sky darkens even more as the two angelic beings laid punishment on each other. Hadriel tries to strike Gabriel once more; quickly Gabriel slides away and manages to slice Hadriels back with his sword. Thunder roars in the sky as lightning hits the ground right beside them. Hadriel is forced to drop to his knees from the pain. Gabriel without mercy flexes every part of his body as rays of light pierces through the clouds. Absorbing the rays with his sword, Gabriel charged straight forward towards Hadriel sword first. The sword easily went right into Hadriel, giving him the final blow. Gabriel watches as his old friends body begins to slowly incinerate. Memory after memory is flashed in Gabriel’s head. The once best friend dies in front of
Gabriel by his hands. Gabriel drops to his knees as the sky starts to become bright again. All the evidence of present battle in the mortal realm vanishes. It’s as if time is reversing itself. Gabriel is motionless. As the realm continues to brighten the man in the suit is seen waiting at a chessboard outside a park. He ires the entire world as he waits for his chess opponent. Down the path comes a slow moving man. He seems weak from his slow paced walk but his stature is powerful. He sits down across from the man in the suit. As the man in the suit moves a pawn forward he starts to talk. “That was an interesting battle. I wonder if you are pleased by that. I think it was a wonderful time.” The powerful man without even touching his horse moved it. “I find it funny you think it’s wonderful. You lost. Gabriel is the victor as I needed.” “Yes.” The man moved his horse out. “But I have Death.” The man pushed the entire game over. “You cannot fathom what I am about to do. No more games. No more trials or immature chess battles. Heaven will fall.” Lucifer walked away into the thin air. Thoughts and confusion started to race in the powerful man’s head. Out of nowhere, it hit him. “Raphael!” God vanished in a bolt of light. Gabriel walks around aimlessly. What else can he do? He did just stop the biggest threat. A presence is felt from behind him. “Jessica.” The warm sensation once again filled his veins. “We did it.” Gabriel turned. “Good going Gabe.” Jessica became interrupted by a visitor she would never think to see. “My children. Please hear me.” God spoke in a pleading voice. As soon as he was about to speak again Gabriel interrupted. “I’m sorry who are you? Do not even get me started that there is going to be another threat. Handle it on your own.” Gabriel suddenly couldn’t move. “Who do you think you are talking to?” God is speaking without any sarcasm or foolish manner. “You let Death slip through your fingers and now he managed to
resurrect Raphael. The very first and last hybrid creation. You are such a doleful, narcissistic archangel I created.” Gods’ voice began to be filled with anger. He walked right behind Gabriel and grabbed his shoulder. “I made you better than anyone I ever had. I made you this way in order to stop the threat that has just returned.” The surroundings started to change. It’s as if Gabriel is being put into a movie. The big buildings became deathly colored mountains, the streets became streams and the clouds lowered to appear on the ground. God speaks. Eons ago, before any angelic council or the horseman. The battles were always just our armies and we as generals. Lucifer grew tiresome. He knew that there wasn’t any way he would win. He became so enraged he did an unthinkable thing. He managed to mix demonic blood and angelic blood together. He created a being to overcome what either side has to give. The being is massive and his poise was perfection. He ripped through both armies faster than I think I could have. It took all of my power to basically overfill his own and cause his own destruction. In the process everyone was lost. Jessica chimed in. “What do you need us to do?” Jessical glarred at Gabriel who stood there with not a care in the world. “You will need to get Hadriel pure essence back. Before the corruption. I need you to go into the afterlife. He must be the reincarnated as Marcus. Only the three of you together can stop him.” God instanly vanished. Gabriel took a deep breath. He jolted a look at Jessica. “Fine, lets go.” Diligently Death is finishing the incantation to fully bring Raphael back to life. The power of this is draining Death quickly. Such a powerful force is being revived. Blood boils from the ground and the walls start to shake. Dust and rocks fall as the blood becomes larger and more detailed. It’s as if the blood became clay as it starts to shape into a form. “Finally, it’s done.” The shape is now complete, Raphael has returned. “Welcome back.” Death gladly welcomed. Raphael nearly stood seven feet tall. He wore not a piece of armor, but a heavy black cloak instead. Raphael looked straight at Death. “Who are you?” “I am the aspect of Death itself. I am the one that was able to bring you back to life for our Lord Lucifer.” Death set daggers with his eyes right at Raphael.
Death felt uneasy for the first time. “So your purpose is no more.” With a quick movement Raphael appeared behind Death and took his head right off. “Weak.” He quickly turned his head. “Whose there!” “Bravo. Not bad killing the one being that technically couldn’t be killed.” Lucifer appeared informs of Raphael. “Master.” Raphael kneeled unhesitatingly towards Lucifer. “What do you need me to do?” “It is time to conquer Heaven. They are weak right now. Not a single creature up there can stop you. Not even the Gabriel.” Lucifer started to smile with pure excitement. Heaven shall finally fall.
Part Two A HEROS DARKNESS
E ons ago the war between Heaven and Hell abruptly started by the uprising of an angel named Lucifer. Denouncing his loyality, he quickly turned to crumble Heaven as it stood and remake it his own. Centuries went on as did the war. Creating generals to lead the demonic forces, Lucifer spilled angelic blood gallons at a time. Heavens leader started to take things in his hands. Simply walking the demonic force cuasing all to incinerate before him. God then paused. In his line of sight, he saw an angel. However he was confused for that angel is not of his creation. The angels wings are massive as well as himself. Red and black battlegear made him stand out in the middle of the battles mayhem. Without any hesitation at all, he strikes down angels that stand against him. He acts more of a juggarnaut than anything else. God stands ready to fight. “No creation of my enemy shall ever defeat me!” God warped left to right, right to left and proceeded foward toward Raphael. “Whatever you are, you are nothing more than an abomiation.” Quickly, he flung his arm foward to send Raphael flying across the battlefield. Crashing down hard, he stood back up unphased. Gods eyes turned ghostly white as the air around everyone starts to get cold. From the ground spikes of crystalized earth appear impaling as many demons possible. Beneath Raphael a huge quake begins. Launching out from the ground is a glacier sized spike going right for him. Raphael smirks and punches right through it. “You have not enough tricks up your sleeve for me, old man.” Raphaels voice is deep and commanding. Drawing his sword, he bent down a bit. Using his wings he dashed straight toward God and with a massive strike, knocking him down. “Your own imagination could never have created me. Surrender to Master Lucifer or you will be no more.” Raphael waited. Trembling on the ground analyzing Raphaels sheer power, God laughed. “My imaginaion created your master. I will not surrender.” Standing up like nothing ever happened, he simply put his hand on Raphaels chest. Instantly burning his chest, Raphael began to kneel due to pain. “No.” Clenching his fist and grabbing his sword tighter, Raphael faught through the pain and grabbed Gods wrist. “My turn.” Eyes being engulfed in fire, he
managed to over power Gods stregnth and bends him to the ground. Lifting his sword up Raphael went to strike, as the sword came down God dodged it while still having his wrist held. “What are you? How can you cause me pain?” God became enraged and forced him self to stand up. He looked all around and noticed all the battles going on. His creations; his children are fighting till they die. Behind Raphael, endless hordes of demons are seen. “Forgive me.” God channled all the energy he has and all around him into himself. His body begins to glow as he screams in torture. Within seconds, an incredible explosion erupts from him. Incinerating all life around him. God falls, he is the only one left. A heros biggest curse; they must always sacrifice today for the good of tomrorrow. Gabriel and Jessica proceed to the after life. This task is never easy and only one other person ever lived while doing it. To enter the after life a being of great power must be accepted. The longer the being is there, the being dies more. In Heaven, Jessica is sumoning the portal in the once Lords Chambers. “Gabriel its almost ready. You know i cant go with you, be careful and quick.” Jessica is just about finished with the portal. “Do you even know where to look?” “Ill be able to sense him. Hopefully that will be enough.” Gabriel inpatiently waits for the portal to open. He knows he must move quickly, this is a land where he has never been before. “Its open.” As soon as Jessica finished speaking, Gabriel runs right into the portal. The after life is dark. The grounds seem to move like water and the sky is constantly being changed to a different illusion. Gabriels steps are heavy and slow. Its as if time and space does not exist here what so ever. The air is thick, Gabriel can hardly breath and at this rate he will be stuck here. Gabriel tries to fly, but for some reason he is grounded. “This place is so strange. I feel powerless and even more every time I move. Echoes are heard coming up from the view infront of him. He continues to harshly move foward. “Nothing, I see nothing. I sense nothing. I only hear
whispers. How am I suppose to figure this one out?” More noises are heard to his left. Screams of pain are coming from every direction. The ground itself is changing to more a solid surface now. Gabriel being able to walk a little faster picked up his pace. “Is anyone here!” Gabriel yells at the top of his lungs. “Anyone!” as he continues to move faster and faster his stopped by a sight. Just as he was a kid he sees his lakefront sparkling under the moon light. He went towards it and just wondered. The sight caused him to get lost and lose the track of time. “Gabe!” A female voice is heard. “No, snap out of it! Gabe!” Gabriel shook his head and looked all around. “Angela?” He heard his murdered wife, but couldnt see her. “Angela, where are you?” Gabriel kept calling out, but nothing came from it. When he turned around, the lakefront was not there. “Gabe. Over here. Quickly.” Her voice is heard again. Getting as much energy as he could, he ran to the point and saw a kid scared on the ground. “Hadriel?” The essence he needed to find of a pure Hadriel, is when he was a kid. “He looks so scared.” As he approached closer, the scenary changed. The sky is pure black and the ground is white. Dropping down from the sky is a being of great size. “A Grim.” Never has Gabriel saw a Grim before, the collectors of souls. The Grims scythe is as big as Gabriel and The Grim himself has to be twice as big as Gabriel. “Turn now Gabriel. Leave my realm and live. Your powers are not useful here. If you choose to fight, you will die.” The Grim speaks as his voice echoes. “That is my only warning.” “I need that essence of Hadriel. I do not want to fight you or anyone else in this realm. Please let me take it and go.” Gabriel is not budging. His stance is ready for a fight. “Then perish.” The Grim in one quick swoop sliced his scythe down missing Gabriel. Its as if he is giving a warning shot. The Grim began to shrink in size. Now being head to head with Gabriel, The Grim made a green orb of fire appear in his hand. Gabriel ran foward towards him. What else could he do? “Foolish.” The Grim launched the orb striking Gabriel. Still continuing foward, Gabriel took every hit The Grim gave him. The orbs kept getting bigger everytime. Finally Gabriel had enough. “This realm. How
long have I been in here?” Gabriel couldnt find any energy to move. He looked at Hadriel as kid sitting there. “thats my friend.” The Grim approached Gabriel with his scythe. “Perhaps the best essence I will have down here.” As soon as he went for the strike, his arm was stopped by Hadriel. “What!” Hadriel biting his arm made him drop his weapom. Gabriel slowly picked the scythe up. Using it to help him stand he took advantage of the distraction and sliced The Grim in half. “Hadriel, take my hand.” The young Hadriel took Gabriels hand. As he did, the boy dissapeared but instead particles of golden light replaced him. Not sure what emotion he is feeling right now Gabriel proceeded back to the portal to leave. Raphael appears in Heaven. Being that of an angel, he is able to carry himself on, without being questioned by anybody. The perfect soldier. “I there being so much more blood. That will change.” Raphael sensed Jessica alone in the chamber. “Lets start.” In one jump Raphael managed to leap across the entire realm and land right outside of the Keepers building. Without delay he walked right in and continued to walk towards the chamber. He spotted Jessica. She is waiting for them to get back from the realm. Without saying a word, Raphael appeared infront of here. “Please dont make this hard.” Jessica stumbled back and ended up with her back against a wall. “All sweet things must come to an end.” Raphael took his sword and struck it through Jessicas shoulder. Screaming in excruiating pain, the portal started to close. “No, not yet.” Jessica tried to go around Raphael with out success. Raphael looked at her and she simply started to levitate. “Why cant I move? Whats going on?” Raphael laughed out loud. “My simple presence fills you up with to much fear to do anything.” Raphael focuse his energy into her body and she felt her organs beings ripped apart. “Bad timing for your boyfriend to leave.” “Enough!” God broke Raphaels hold and knocked him back. “Jessica, you have to leave.” “No.” Jessica stood up and drew her sword nect to her celestial father. “Im not going anywhere unil Gabriel comes back.” God focused his power on keeping Raphael down. “I cant hold him for long. I need Gabriel to come back right now.”
Raphael broke the hold and came right towards God with sword his hand. Jessica clashed with Raphael. As usual her speed is impeccable, but Raphael is unphased by it. The portal started to electrify. “He is almost back.” Contiuning to keep Raphael at bay, Jessica grew tired. The energy he is putting off is exhausting her. Raphael had a enough of horse play. Lightning fast he grabbed her neck and started to crush her bones. Bolts of lightning came pusling through Raphael causing him to be stunned. God continues to send the pulses. Jessica tries to strike Raphael but somehow he manges to block every attempt. “I grow tired of this!” In an outburst he sends the two flying and seems to be growing in power. Jesscia becomes unconcious as God stands infront. “Leave old man. This wont play out like it did last time.” Out from the portal Gabriel came launching at Raphael. Sending him flying back crashing through a wall. Without hesitation Gabriel starts to pound on him every second. Gabriel becomes enraged and will not stop. “Gabriel we have to leave!” God is trying to get to him. “You cant do it on your own.” Gabriel stopped and looked at God. He managed to throw the essence right to him. “Take that and Jessica and do whatever you need.” Gabriel keeps hitting Raphael. Looking back once more. “Go!” God left with Jessica leaving Gabriel alone. Taking that as an oppurnity, Raphael managed to get a hit in. However his hit was much harder. With the single punch Gabriel went flying into the air crashing onto the ground. As soon as he hit the ground, Raphael was already ontop of him. First hit drew blood from Gabriel. Every hit after that managed to make his head go more and more into the floor. Being bored, Raphael clenched Gabriels throat. Starting to fade away Gabriel has to think of something. His vision is almost gone and he isnt able to hear anything. “Finally, the almighty Gabriel will die. I expected more of a fight.” Gabriel swung his leg up and just managed to get the back of Raphaels head causing th grip to ease up. Getting oxygen back he kept kicking until the hold was off. Coughing non stop Gabriel slowly got up and lost all control. His eyes turned white.
“Full angel mode.” Raphael confused took a step back. Gabriel walked right over to him and delivered a hard blow right to the abdomen. Rahael lost all breath and as soon as he bent over, Gabriel as hard as he could hit him once more in the face drawing blood. “You have never faced anything like me.” Gabriel proudly announced as he drew his sword out of air. The swords aura is misting in power. The battle is about to begin. Frantically in Gods chambers, the essence is being used but not as planned. “The merging is taking to long. They are not matching up.” Gods sounds worried. Jessica lost her breath. “What do you mean?” “Hadriels essence een at this stage in his life is already to corrupted. The merge cant happen.” God furiosuly in a moment of anger destroyed half his chamber. “Im going to to help Gabriel.” Jessica started to warp down but God stopped her. “I am going. You stay here.” Instantly he left. The battle contiunes against Raphael and Gabriel. Raphael looks full of energy as Gabriel starts to lose his. Sword in one hand and fist in another, both of them beomce relentless with their attacks. As soon as God enters, another does as well. “Well, look at what we have here. Im excited.” Everyone stops. Lucifer has arrived as well. “I think its only fair that if you , I .” Lucifer cracks his neck and prepares to fight. Gabriel looks at his celestial father and nods. The four beings clash in what can only be called a legendary battle. Two creators with two of their greatest masterpeices fighting side by side eachother. The ultimate battle of good vs evil. Faster than anyone thought, Lucifer manged to knock down both Gabriel and God first. Using his limitless powers, Lucifer engulfed the two in fire only to find be blown away by Gabriels wings. Gabriel wuickly leviated and starteds to spear sword first towards Raphael taking them both away from the two titans.
“It comes down to this? One last fight. You and me old friend.” God spoke directly to Lucifer. Without an exchange of words the two of them fought. No swords, no armor, just themselves. Every punch that is throw is blocked. Every dodge that is made is followed by another and another. Relying on powers alone, Lucifer blasted God back onto a wall causing it to break instantly. Erupting from the shambles God started to choke Lucifer from across the room. Raphael managed to get back into the fight and break the hold. Gabriel quickly grabbed from behind and slammed him down. Swiftly he impaled his sword straight at Raphael which was abruptly stopped by Lucifer by catching the blade and breaking it in half. The battle became thunderous. Every hit echoes as bones break. An endless battle to an endless war. Gabriel flies up high and yells as loud as he can. Raphael does the same and both have a stare off. The two angels clashed in the air. On the ground the two dieties Lucifer and God become exhausted but still powerful. “This will go on forever. We have done this before. Just surrender. You already know you cant win over my creation.” Lucifer ordering God to listen. Chraging quick Lucifer went towards God and took him to the ground. Gabriel seeing from above, started to dive towards them but Raphael stopped him in his movement. Gabriel in an act of desperation started to rip Raphaels wings off. The pain it caused made Raphael let go allowing Gabriel to dive right into Lucifer. Gabriel started to beat on him as much as he could. He channeld energy to his fists causgin them to hit with holy fire every time. Raphael had enough, he sprinted right towards Gabriel. God saw it happening. Shooting up he used his strenth to catch Raphael but whatever wings he has left and with in seconds ripped them apart. God fell to his knees. “No!” Lucifer enraged blasted Gabriel off of him. Lucifers muscles became harder and the look on his face was if a mother just watched her child be murdered. He leaped right to God and forcefully went to strike his head. Gabriel with one movemnt, grabbed a piece of his broken sword and met Lucifer in the air slicing his throat. Falling from mid air, Lucifers body slammed hard. Incinerating in flames. “Gabriel. How?” God couldnt believe it.
Gabriel hardly had any energy to stand up, let alone answer that question. He managed to pull himself right beside his celestial father. “I’m the hero that people need. I cant afford to lose.” Gabriel nodged his celestial father. “I mean hey, you did make me the way I am anyway. Its your fault im like this.” God looked at him and he could sense nothing but peace from him. “Welcome back Gabriel.”
