SLEEP MONITORING AND INTIMATION IN LIGHT AND HEAVY VEHICLES WITH AUTO SPEED REDUCTION AND BRAKING SYSTEM OBJECTIVE The main objective of this proposed project is to deg an Embedded Spects to monitor and intimate sleep for light and heavy vehicles with auto speed reduction and braking system. 20%
of
all
automobile
accidents
are
caused
by
sleep
deprivation.
Avoid them with the Drive Alert. According to official statistics 80,118 persons were killed
and 342,200 injured in road traffic crashes in India in the year 2000 (2). However, this is an underestimate, as not all injuries are reported to the police. The actual numbers are likely to have been in the region of 1,200,000 persons with injuries requiring hospital treatment and 5,600,000 persons sustaining minor injuries. The situation in India is worsening and RTI have been increasing over the past twenty years. This is partly due to the increase in the number of vehicles on the road and partly due to the absence of a coordinated official policy to control the problem. These data show that the number of fatalities have continued to increase at approximately the same rate of about five percent a year over the past two decades. The fatality rate per million vehicles has remained around 2 for the past few years, whereas, the rate per million population continues to increase and is around 80 at present. Lot of accidents occurs during the late night and the early morning times. Often accident happens due to drowsiness of the drivers (drivers dozing during driving) due to heavy work load, increased stress and over drive. Now in order to monitor the status of the drivers, we create embedded spects which are enabled with sensors, which will be continuously monitoring the eye movements of the driver. The system or the vehicle will not initiate until and unless the spects is activated, or once the spects is wore by the driver only, the engine will be ignited. Once the engine
is ignited the spects will be monitoring the eye motions of the driver, if the drivers’ eye closes for a considerable amount of time, the system will give intimation to the dash board. If there is not any control measures, the speed of the system will be reduced. The major key role of this project is to implement an intelligent braking system by reducing the speed of the vehicle once the system sense that the driver is dozing. We does this by connecting a motor driver to the controller by implementing a disc brake in our model, which in turn apply pressure to the tire and reduce the speed of the vehicle.
