“This Rough Magic” of Mary Stewart Mary Stewart is the author of the book that i have read, “This Rough Magic”. She is a english writer born in Sunderland (England) in 1916. She have written other books like “Wildfire at Midnight”, “The Gabriel Hounds”, “Rose Cottage” or “Madame, will you talk?” and one trilogy of 5 books, “The Merlin´s Trilogy”. I didn´t find any awards that she have wan. She usually write novels of the history of the countries that she have visited, and it usually are of romance and mystery. I think the tittle have connection with the history because the island is so beautifull and she describe it like a magic place where you can do anything you want. The history talks about Lucy Waring, an retired actress that live in an greck island called Corfu with her older sister who is happy to have her third child. In the island there are other actor called Julian Gale and a word traveller called Godfrey Manning that is writing a book of the island. She is quiet while she desribe the beautifull island before she is playing with a dolphin on the beach and someone shoot the dolphin with a gun, the dolphin don´t be hurt but she don`t see who shooted. Days before she find a cavader in the beach one night. I never have been in one of the hundreds of the greck islands in the Mediterranean sea, but when i read this book i felt that i want to go there and i hope i will go when i grow up, but i didn´t like the history, because it have a lot of descriptions of the island and of where they are and because it doesn´t have action or fiction, only a mistery, but is good book for anyone who likes the suspense. So, i didnt liked the history in itself but i liked that mistery and where it happen and i like how Mary Stewart have done some caracthers. Also, the descriptions are so good, you can imagine what is happen perfectly. I recommend this book for who likes mistery and for who wants to learn english, because it have so cultivated lenguage.
