ICIANG & ZIA DID IT AGAIN! PATRICIA SCA P. GONZALEZ and ELYZIA ROBIN S. BALUYOT grabbed Bronze and Silver medals respectively at the 10th ASEAN Taekwondo Federation Championships held recently at Phnom Penh, Cambodia in their kyorugi (sparring) taekwondo events. Eleven countries, including Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia participated in the competition which also serves as preparation for the coming 27th Southeast Asian Games sometime in November in Indonesia. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DVES MEDICAL MISSION


March 24, 2011, the SFS medical mission team- composed of Fr Edgar A. Alutaya OFM, Ms Mel Serafico, Ms Angie Rivera, Sir Chito Alagao, Senior Scout Officers Jeremy Aniscol, Kaye Musngi, Patricia Gonzalez, together with school chef Dexter & school guard Winnie- trekked the 13-hours drive to San Antonio de Padua Parish in San Antonio, Donsol, Sorsogon and were warmly welcomed by Parish Priest Fr Eric Ollague OFM, leaving SFS at 315am and arriving Donsol same day at past 5pm. The following day, the entire De Vera Elementary School, under Principal Ms Milany M. Averilla, greeted the medical mission team with their big smiles. The SFS team was ably and profesionally assisted by Dr. Owen de Guzman, Dr. Lhedie Garrovillas, and Nurse Girlie Salvatierra. SFS would like to express their utmost thanksgiving to all who helped in making this mission a success- the SFS parents, students/pupils, alumni, friends, and benefactors. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

GRADE SCHOOL'S TURNOVER


Last 25 March 2010, the Grade 5 and Grade 6 pupils had the rare privilege of celebrating their TURNOVER CEREMONY marking the official transfer of the different key of responsibilities at the Brother Sun-Sister Moon Auditorium. Another highlight of the occasion was when a cotillon dance number was performed, plus the pupil's chance to socially interact with their teachers in the dance floor. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HS Scout's Community Immersion

To culminate the HS Department's Scouting program, the undergraduate Senior Scouts, chaperoned by their respective Advisers, together with SFS Scout Coordinator Ms Geleen Del Rosario and SFS Scout Master Sir Jeffrey Alitagtag, converted by Web2PDFConvert.com

rendered community service to 9 barangays around SFS last 19 March 2011. The said immersion made the SFS Scouts appreciative to what the barangays are doing for the benefit of their respective community, and at the same time came up with their own Barangay Profile which they will submit as their final requirement.

Rover Scout's Vigil


The 4th year Senior Scouts were promoted to be Rover Scouts in an overnight vigil held at the school last 12 March, led by SFS Scout Master & BSP Area 6 Field Executive Officer Sir Jeffrey A. Alitagtag, assisted by some Rover Scouts from St Joseph School in Pandacan, Manila. After various inputs on the other aspects of Scouting, the symbolical donning of the Rover Scout neckerchief were done, followed by an individualized activity on introspection. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

THE SHOW


Inspired by the call and challenge to help the school's medical mission for De Vera Elementary School in San Antonio, Donsol, Sorsogon, the latent local talents of the community- from the students, the teaching and non-teaching personnelcame up with a musical soiree, "The Show", last 12 March 2011 at the Brother Sun-Sister Moon Auditorium. Amid the appreciative shrieks of the audience, even our very own School Director, Fr Edgar OFM, showed his artistic side when he rendered songs from his heart, the variety program was a complete success: earning additional P50,500 for the said school's outreach program. Neria Bags 2nd Place Art Contest


John Edzcel C. Neria, 4-St Lawrence of Brindisi, won 2nd Place in a district-wide poster making contest held last 15 February. The said art tourney was a t program between the University of the Philippines' College of Dentistry and NGO group Lola Grande Foundation with the theme "Sta Ana: Alagaan, Mahalin, Ipagmalaki" with the aim of fostering love and appreciation for the historic 6th District of the City of Manila. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dashing and elegant in their gowns and coat and tie, the Juniors and Seniors had their JS Prom last 27 February 2011 at the South Ballroom of the Diamond Hotel in Roxas Blvd, Manila: commencing with a royal entrance, the memorable gathering was highlighted with the turnover of responsibilities, exchange of mementos, the cotillon d' honoeur, and the selection of this year's King & Queen of the Prom and Prince & Princess of the Prom, and the student's skipping the light fandango with slow music and heart-beating tunes of the times. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sacrament of Confirmation

With the intent of providing fair access for graduating public school elementary pupils to be a part of SFS, the school applied for ESC (Educational Service Contracting), which require a visitation-evaluation by a team from FAPE (Fund for Assistance to Private Education): this happened last 23 February, and they were headed by a Region 3 DepEd official, Sir Cornelius F. Ducut (he was with Mr Germiniano D. Serrano, Ms Daisy G. Tello & Ms Alicia Alday).

Christmas Camp 2010


Five SFS Senior Scout officers (Maria Lisha C. Lechado of 4St Bonaventure of Bagnoregio, Sherylen A. De Villa of 4StAnthony of Padua, Nadine Bernadette D. Justo of 4St Lawrence of Brindisi, Patricia sca P. Gonzalez of 3St Agnes of Assisi and Jeremy Ross G. Aniscol of 3St Veronica Giuliani), accompanied by HS Scout Ms Geleen Del Rosario, ed the BSP Manila Council's annual Christmas Camp held at Gerry's Resort in Sta Ana, Pampanga last 26-30 December 2010 and which was participated by more than 200 scouters coming from public and private schools of Districts 1-6. District 6-B (Pandacan-Sta Ana) emerged as the Overall Champion after undergoing various scout activities designed for the occasion; and all the SFS Senior Scout contingent got promoted as full-pledged Outdoorsmen when they ed the Board of Review with flying colors.

Greccio Mass - 80s Rewind


Following the centuries-old tradition initiated by St Francis of Assisi, SFS began their Christmas party last 18 December 2010 with a Greccio Mass where the Poor Man of Assisi built a Christmas crib in a cave in Greccio to re-enact the Loveladen Incarnation. Set in the rooftop of St Claire building, the Holy Mass presided by School Director Fr. Edgardo A. Alutaya, OFM also called on different teaching and non-teaching personnel to share their thoughts about the essence of Christmas; Brother Tem S. Gulay, OFM, School Finance Officer, was assigned to deliver the Christmas Message where he focused on the significance and importance of one-on-one relationship and authentic acceptance of one's self as the human basis to understand the meaning of the event God-becoming-man; after the Mass, the SFS personnel paid homage to the Child Jesus by kissing and showing respect to His image held by Bro Tem OFM. And after the Sacramental Gathering around the Holy Table, the annual Christmas party took off with the theme "The Eighties Rewind" where all were garbed in the colorful fashion of the 80s and all the parlor games played around the said vibrant era. INTRAMURALS 2010


Challenged by this year's theme, "Witnessing the Franciscan Spirit Through Sports," Intramurals 2010 opened with a big bang and high expectation as the students and pupils of both the Grade School and High School Departments, together with their respective Advisers, egged on by some present parents, savored this year's hopefully to be different experience of sport activities, which is to emphasize more on the values like teamwork, responsibility, victory with honor, respect, cheerfulness, joyful brotherhood, sportsmanship, humility, tolerance, fairness, integrity and friendship. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DOUBLE WHAMMY!


SFS again earned recognition when she was declared "2010 BEST PERFORMING SCOUTING INSTITUTION" and "BEST IN 2010 HIP" by the BSP Manila Council in their 69th Annual Council Meeting held this morning at the Ying Lin Foundation Bldg, with the theme "Scouting ng Maynila: Kaisa sa Pag-unlad ng Bansa." On the same gathering, SFS School Director Fr. Edgardo A. Alutaya, OFM was inducted as Executive Board Member, he was represented by GS Principal Ms Eufracia S. Rocha; SFS HS Department Scout Coordinator Ms. Geleen Del Rosario received the two plaques of recognition for the school. BES TAYO NG DVES Part 2


Last December 10-12, a team of SFS personnel led by Father Director Edgardo A. Alutaya, OFM, made the 10-hour drive to the hinterland of San Antonio, Donsol, Sorsogon, plus a 2-kilometer walk through the eroding feeder roads leading to De Vera Elementary School, and shared some gifts collected and joyfully given by SFS students-pupils-parents-alumnifriends. The smile-laden simple affair was made more meaningful with the celebration of the Holy Mass, presided by San Antonio Parish Priest Fr. Eric Ollague, OFM, assisted by Fr. Edgar OFM and Brother Peter Ezarse OFM; this was followed by a short program prepared by the pupils as their way of thanking their SFS friends; and continued with the sharing of the bundles of joy. Student Empowerment Week Teacher's Day

HS' Speech Choir

Challenged by the HS English Club's theme "Exploring & Appreciating Franciscan Literary Works," the Department's English month celebration culminated with a speech choir contest: Level 1 saw the Freshmen and Sophomores showing off their wares with "The Peace Prayer of St Francis of Assisi" as their contest piece while the Juniors and Seniors clashed head-on on the obra "Cantico de Frate Sole." 2nd in Oration

MICHAELLA BEATRIZ R. CENTENO, senior student of 4-St Anthony of Padua, bested 10 other speakers from different NCR schools at the just-concluded DepEd-STI "Voice of the Youth" Oratorical Contest by placing 1st Runner Up with her very own composed material for the competition; this gave her sure slot to go for the Regionals. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The teaching and non-teaching personnel of the school had their annual institutionalized retreat last 26-28 November 2010 at the Angels' Hills Retreat House in Tagaygay City, facilitated by Fr. Edgar A. Alutaya OFM. In time for the Church's celebration of the First Sunday of Advent, the SFS personnel were reminded by Fr Edgar on the basic truth about God's plan for all- that of man to participate in His goodness by facing the challenges of what to be human in the true sense of the word. National Computer Tourney


Nine eager SFS students ed the National Computer Competition sponsored by the Philippine Association of Junior I.T. Achievers last 23 November 2010 at the Kaban ng Hiyas, Mandaluyong City Hall, showing off their computer savvy against representatives coming from NCR, Pampanga, Palawan and Bulacan. Our local computer tekkiz clashed horn with their opponents in I.T. Mind Challenge, Web Photo Contest, I.T. Essay Writing, and I.T. Poster Making. SCOUT'S CAMPING


The annual Institutional Scout's Camping for this school year were successfully held in two batches: the Freshmen and Sophomores last 19-20 November 2010, while the Juniors & Seniors had theirs from 20-21 November 2010, and both hands-on Scouting experiences were held at Cogeenick Youth Camp in Taysan, Batangas. Aside from their usual Advisers as chaperons, the entire weekend scouting fun were also made possible under the leadership of Sir Jeffrey Alitagtag, BSP Manila Council's Field Executive with his ever-reliable co-scout officers from the Manila Council; and what also made this year's camping different was even the good friars, Fr Edgardo A. Alutaya OFM, & Fr Jun C. Mendones OFM, were game enough to accompany the campers and celebrated the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist with them. Ten students and pupils from SFS participated in an overnight leadership training seminar which was held at Cogeenick Youth Camp in Taysan, Batangas sponsored by MAPESA-APSSAM (Manila Association of Private Elementary School s - Association of Private Secondary School s) last 12-13 November 2010 where student leaders from MAPESA-APSSAM member schools underwent a thorough orientation on the basics and responsibilities of being a student leader in a school setting. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BES TAYO NG DVES Part 1

On the wee morning of 29 October 2010, a team of SFS personnel led by School Director Fr. Edgardo A. Alutaya, OFM, took the long 10-hours drive to Donsol, Sorsogon to share the first batch of school materials the school had collected from generous students-pupils, parents, alumni and friends of SFS. Met by St Anthony of Padua Parish Priest Fr Eric Ollague, OFM, in San Antonio, Donsol, Sorsogon late in the afternoon, the team had a much-needed rest at the very simple friary. The following day, 30 October, after a breakfast of rice-tinapa-fried egg-fruits, the team then proceeded to De Vera Elementary School, a good 2-kilometers trek by foot from the main road because of the almost unaccesible dirt road. But the team's hardship in making that long walk was paid off when they were eagerly met by the pupils, parents, teachers, barangay officials of DVES. Ms Mel M. Serafico, the school Registrar, explained to the parents SFS' commitment to be DVES' sister school and urged them to do their contribution especially in the feeding program; this was then followed by a short and simple but airy program where the DVES pupils expressed their thanksgiving by means of their prepared musical dance numbers. Then the much-awaited queue followed where all the 198 pupils of DVES, from all grade levels, received their share of gifts. Capping the morning was when Ms Serafico handed to the teachers the initial amount to begin the feeding program. And for all those who magnanimously shared for DVES- we have just started helping out because this program will run until March of 2011. "...for it is in giving that we receive..." HS' Debate on DepEd's BEC 2K

The High School Department's Araling Panlipunan Club sponsored a debate to resolve the newly-proposed additional two years for Basic Education Curriculum- between two mixed teams composed of different students from each academic level last 28 Oct 2010 at the Brother Sun-Sister Moon Auditorium. Because of their strong presentation of evidences, sharpness of reasoning and capturing the audience by their style of delivery, the disagreeing team won and was composed of MICHAELLA BEATRIZ CENTENO (4St Anthony of Padua), LEAHMIE DELA ROSA (4St Lawrence of Brindisi), ELLA MARIK DIANCIN (3St Claire of Assisi), SAM DARYLL ASTUDILLO (2St Peter of Alcantara), and MA. OVERNIGHT SCOUTING

In preparation for their annual camping, the Freshmen and Sophomore scouts conducted their overnight camping at the school: 22-23 Oct for the Sophies, and 23-24 Oct for the Freshies, where they were reviewed and updated on the basics of Scouting tackling knot-tying, lashing, giving first aid, proper National Colors protocol, basics of camping activities, cook-a-rama, etc. They were ably facilitated by Scout Master Sir Jeff Alitagtag, with Scout Coordinator Ms Geleen Del Rosario, Advisers Ms Celeen Del Rosario, Mr Josh Fedelin, and Senior Scout Officers. Let's Help DE VERA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Fr. Eric Ollague, OFM, Parish Priest of St Anthony of Padua Parish in San Antonio, Donsol, Sorsogon expressed the particular need of De Vera Elementary School in his parish, right in the heart of the boondocks of Bicol- the pupils are in need of school materials like notebooks, paper, pencils, crayola, bags, slippers, toobrush/toothpaste, soap, etc- which moved Saint Francis School to adopt said school. SFS will highly appreciate donations for the DVES kids, in cash or in kind; the HS Department's SGO (Student Government Organization) will set up a skeleton Christmas Tree in the school's main lobby where donations will be collected. QUIZ BEE ALA SURVIVOR GAME

The second day of the school's celebrating her 51st Foundation saw the students and pupils grouped according to their interest club/organization and clashed in a quiz bee competition but done with a twist: before each contestant could answer a question, they must first do a specific consequence or act like rolling, running in a sack, etc. This was a fun-filled but very informative activity because it tested the student's and pupil's knowledge about the life of St Francis of Assisi, history of the school and her personnel, and some academic subjects. CEAP 2010 NATIONAL CONVENTION

SFS delegates to the CEAP (Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines) 2010 National Convention eagerly proceeded to the Waterfront Hotel in Lahug, Cebu City last 22-24 September 2010 for the gathering of all catholic schools in the country and participated in the 3-days activities with the theme of "A Heart for Eden, A Hand of Ecology." PREPARATIONS FOR THE 51ST

Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges & Universities (PAASCU) Chairperson on Elementary Education, Mr Mark Hernandez, visited SFS and gave a general orientation about the dynamics and nature of PAASCU work- although the Grade School Department had already began their Self-Evaluation stage last year and is scheduled for PAASCU visitation; while the High School Department is gearing itself to start the accreditation ball rolling.

Graduating IT students from Adamson University shared their techie know-how on the basics of Adobe Photoshop to the High School Department students as part of their academic requirement last 16 September 2010. "You Are Beautiful, O Mary"


On the occasion of the Birthday of the Blessed Virgin Mary, SFS gave their all-out in highlighting the role of Our Lady in the economy of our salvation by different activities: for the Grade School Department they had a living rosary with tableaus, poster making and contextualized Mary; while the High School Department spent the entire day with section-level group dynamics focussing on Mary's motherhood vis-a-vis the role of our Nanays, and her daughterhood vis-a-vis the relationship of each child to their mother, teaching of the Franciscan prayer "Tota Pulchra Es, Maria", summary plenum on the group dynamics, individual rose offering, and praying of the holy rosary. SCOUT'S FANCY DRILL ELIMINATIONS


The fancy drill eliminations of the Senior Scouts were held this morning, 04 Sept 2010, at the Assisi Quadrangle where Scout Master Sir Jeffrey Alitagtag chose the year level representative for the finals on 02 October 2010: 1-ST JOSEPH OF CUPERTINO, 2-ST PETER OF ALCANTARA, and 3-ST AGNES OF ASSISI. Meanwhile, the Senior level was held in the evening of the same day (they were on an overnight activity for the following day's Alay Lakad); and due to the super performances of the three sections, the judges decided that all 3 senior sectionsST LAWRENCE OF BRINDISI, ST ANTHONY OF PADUA and ST BONAVENTURE OF BAGNOREGIO- will all clash once more in the finals. 51st FOUNDING CELEBRATIONOpening Salvo


After celebrating their First Friday Mass at the Parish of the Our Lady of the Abandoned, the SFS community had a peek-aboo of their coming 51st Founding Celebration on 04 October, the Solemnity of St Francis of Assisi: School Director Fr. Edgardo A. Alutaya OFM formally and joyously declared the opening of the said celebration with a symbolic release of three doves while being accompanied by the music of the newly formed SFS Drum and Lyre Corps. With the theme of "Anos de Eucaristia or Year of Thanksgiving," mega-large tarpaulins with colorful confefttis added to the festive atmosphere, and select interpretative dance numbers from the Grade School pupils also were greeted with hoots and cheers. DISASTER MANAGEMENT

The entire SFS community underwent an intensive seminar-workshop on Disaster Management last 28 August 2010 facilitated by Sir Bong Grajo and his DISAT team, where the teaching and non-teaching personnel were first lectured and updated on the system of managing man-made or natural disasters, and this was followed by hands-on simulation where


the personnel saw themselves crawling on their bellies entering a smoking room, escaping, and rallying in their assembly area. FIRST GRAND FRATERNAL GATHERING

The first ever quarterly fraternal gathering of the teaching and non-teaching employees of the school was held in the afternoon of 27 August 2010 at the Brother Sun Sister Moon Auditorium, sponsored by the High School Department. 'S TAGAYTAY PLANNING

Key school s- School Director Fr. Edgardo A. Alutaya OFM, GS Principal Ms Eufracia S. Rocha, HS Principal Sir Crisostomo F. Alagao, Registrar Ms Melinda M. Serafico, HR Officer Ms Racquel R. Ramos, Guidance Coordinator Ms Mary Angeli I. Rivera and CMO Coordinator Sir Allan O. Goneda- trekked up to Tagaytay in the morning of 25 August 2010 specifically to come up with different training modules for the school's critical areas of concern. The team hopefully dreams that these modules will be the standard medium to be used when different seminars/lectures , which are pertinent to the school's life-blood, will be needed. In celebration of the Society of Saint Paul Philippines-Macau Province's 75 years of missionary presence, SSP launched the ST PAUL'S BIBLE QUIZ 2010 held last 21 August 2010 at SSP's compound in San Antonio Village, Makati City. A FRATERNAL ASALTO


The SFS community formally welcomed Fr Edgardo A. Alutaya OFM and Brother Temoteo S. Gulay OFM yesterday, 19 August 2010, in a melodramatic gathering where the non-teaching and teaching personnel had to don masks and symbolically take it off as a gesture of leaving their "old selves" and commiting to a new and fresh beginning with the coming of the two SUPER FRIARS. The ing Staff, t Grade School faculty-Office Staff, the High School faculty, the solo numbers of Sirs Neo Oronos and Allan Goneda made the afternoon socials a fun-filled assembly. It was also the personnel's way of greeting Fr Edgar on his 7th year in the priestly ministry, and Bro Tim's 52nd birthday. The Reading Centers of the Grade and High School Departments were launched with a solemn blessing officiated by Fr. Edgardo A. 2010 National Milo Little Olympics


Waging their relentless pursuit for sports excellence, our two taekwondo players again strutted their stuff: PATRICIA SCA P. GONZALEZ bagged GOLD MEDAL in the on-going 2010 National Milo Taekwondo Little Olympics and earned her the berth to represent NCR in the next level, while ELYZIA ROBIN S. BALUYOT grabbed SILVER held this afternoon, 7 August, at the Rizal Stadium. Meanwhile, our two scrabble teams from both the Grade and High School Departments held on to be back Sunday 8 August for more elimination skirmishes- the Grade School team is composed of ALLYSA NICOLE DEQUINO, BIANCA CRIZEN DOMINGO, CLAIRE DANIELLE ERA, and HUSSIEN CARLMART TIENZO, while the HS team has DENISE LEVISTE, SEAN XANDHER ROQUE, and JULIE ANN NIRZA. Prep's Water Fun


The Preparatory pupils under Teacher Mylene, assisted by teacher-aide Emily, had loads of fun at the rooftop of the St Clare Building when they were allowed to have a water gun fight to bring home the value of fair play and sportsmanship; and to top it all, Teacher Mylene creatively supplemented their activity by teaching the dynamic concept of colors to the wet and wide-grinned kiddies.

In Memoriam: SIR EFREN F. REYES

SFS Senior Scout Officers, together with SFS Scout Coordinator Ms Gel del Rosario, Ms Celeen del Rosario and Sir Chito Alagao, paid their last respects to BSP Manila Council Executive Officer Sir Efren F. Reyes who ed away three days ago due to lingering illness. Sir Efren was the instrument why the Scouting movement in SFS was reborn when he gave the go-signal to present SFS Scout Master Sir Jeff Alitagtag to start the ball rolling for the resurrection of the movement. Another Set of Gold Medals

The School's two lady jinns again proved their mettle at yesterday's 33rd NATIONAL TAEKWONDO CHAMPIONSHIP held at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium: PATRICIA SCA P. GONZALEZ of 3-St Agnes of Assisi and ELYZIA ROBIN S. BALUYOT of 2-St Peter of Alcantara each romped away with a GOLD MEDAL and easily took care of their respective opponents; Patricia was also adjudged as the tournament's Most Valuable Player.

LITURGICAL MINISTER'S SEMINAR


Grade School pupils and High School students who wanted to serve in the school's liturgical celebrations either as reader, lector, choir member or collector were given a seminar-workshop at the BrotherSun-SisterMoon Auditorium last 31 July 2010 where Fr Edgardo A. Alutaya, OFM and Mr Crisostomo F. Alagao shared their insights and reflections on the minor ministries of the Church and their meaning-significance to the entire liturgical life of the faithful.

LUTUAN NI KIKO


Culminating their Nutrition Month celebration (with the theme "Sa Pagkaing Tama at Sapat, Wastong Timbang ni Baby ang Katapat") the High School Department launched a three-pronged activities which highlighted their culinary skills and elan: Table Setting, Fruit Carving, and Cook Fest last 30 July 2010 at the 2nd and 3rd floors of the St Francis Building.

CATECHESIS ON THE HOLY EUCHARIST


Responding to the thrust-challenge of School Director Fr. Edgardo A. Alutaya, OFM, regarding SFS employees to be evangelized first in order to be effective evangelizers in turn, the High School Principal, Mr Crisostomo F. Alagao, initiated a catechetical lecture on the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist last 29 July 2010 after classes in the afternoon held at the audio-visual room with his theoflection and continued at the school's Portiuncula Chapel for practical considerations related to the topic, and was capped with a shared agape of simple repast. GS' Nutrition Month Celebration


Under the theme "Healthy Lifestyle ng Kabataan Landas sa Kinabukasan," the Grade School Department yesterday eagerly turned their rooftop into one veritable big kitchen area and tried out their culinary skills: Grades V-VI with their malunggay festival; Grade IV on sandwich making;Grade VI again on table setting/skirting; while the Primary level had barrels of fun at the Brother Sun Sister Moon Auditorium with their Nutri-Henyo & Franciscan Feud games. As early as 8am, our students eagerly waited for the historic moment, armed with positive inquisitiveness and bulging spirit of nationalism, plus their youthful ion and enthusiasm. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

23 June 2010 Scouting Fever for SY 2010-2011 surged ahead once more last 19 June 2010 when the Juniors and Seniors gathered at the BrotherSunSisterMoon Auditorium with Scout Master Sir Jeffrey Alitagtag and ably assisted by Senior Scouts officers. Sir Jeff spiritedly gave a review of the Scouting movement and how SFS plays its role in this endeavour; the Scouts also honored Sir Jeff with a wacky but yummy cake for Father's Day. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

18 June 2010 To formally open the SY 2010-2011. the SFS community gathered around the Table of Sacrifice for the Mass of the Holy Spirit, presided over by OLA Parish Priest Fr. Andrew J. Litigio, OFM, with SFS School Director Fr Edgardo A. Alutaya, OFM as concelebrant, and assisted by SFS Finance Officer Bro. Temoteo S. Gulay, OFM. The istrative Staff, teaching/non-teaching personnel, students and pupils were one in spirit for a


bounty-full school year ahead. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SY 2010-2011 opened with a solemn Morning Prayer, 15 June 2010, at the Assisi Quadrangle, prepared by CMO coordinator Sir Allan Goneda; this was followed by the welcome remarks of School Director Fr. Edgardo A. Alutaya OFM; introduction of the teaching/non-teaching personnel; and sectioning by the HS Department. Upang paigtingin ang dangal at pribilehiyo bilang isang kawani ng isang paaralan- maging ito'y bilang isang guro o karaniwang manggagawamuling nagsama-sama ang mga kawani ng SFS sa Hapag ng Pasasalamat ng Panginoon noong ika-11 ng hunyo 2010, sa pangunguna ni Reb. P. Edgardo A. Alutaya, OFM, Direktor ng SFS, at doo'y maringal na nanumpa ang mga kawani sa kani-kanilang mga gawain; at sinundan naman ito ng maayos na pagpapasinaya ng Portiuncula Chapel sa main ground lobby na kung saang permanente nang inilagak ang Blessed Sacrament sa tabernacle. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------


Bahagi ng paghahanda ng SFS para sa darating na pasukan, inilunsad ang taunang "Parent's Orientation" noong 5 Hunyo (para sa Grade School) at 6 Hunyo (para naman sa High School) kung saang inilatag ng dalawang departamento ang kanilang mga saligang patakaran, serbisyo at programa. Kapuna-puna ang bilang ng mga magulang na dumating, pati na din ang antas ng pagtanong sa bahagi ng open forum. Si P. Edgardo A. Alutaya, OFM, ang bagong Direktor ng paaralan, ang siyang naunang nagbigay-pugay at nagpasalamat sa mga aktibong magulang sa kanilang pagdalo.

Noong ika-4 ng Hunyo 2010, unang nagkaroon ng Pangkalahatang Pagpupulong ang SFS na sinimulan ng pagdiriwang ng Banal na Misa, sinundan ng pagbabasbas ng bagong faculty room ng High School, at pagkatapos ay ang pormal na pagpupulong ng lahat ng kawani ng paaralan. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

JUNE 15: SFS OPENING As decided upon by the Executive Committee of the School, presided by School Director Fr. Edgar A. Alutaya OFM, SFS will open on 15 June following the directive of the Department of Education. Students are expected to be in school 15 minutes before the 7AM Morning Prayer. Meanwhile, the Parents' Orientation will still be the same: June 5, 9am for Grade School parents, and June 6, 9am for High School parents; venue will be at the Brother Sun Sister Moon Auditorium, 2ndF, HS Bldg.

In the afternoon of 27 May 2010, the teachers of both the Grade School and High School Departments underwent a seminar/lecture on "Professional Ethics" facilitated by Sir Chito Alagao, HS Principal. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------


The High School Department faculty had a refresher lecture on "Adolescent Personality: Classroom Implications" on the morning of 27 May 2010, given by Guidance Counselor Ms Razel Batang.

The English teachers of both the Grade School and High School departments underwent an intensive 3-days seminar workshop last 24-26 May 2010 on Reading Intervention and Enhancement Program preparatory for the School's implementation of Scholastic's Assessment and Enrichment Program- a systematic program designed to level up the reading and comprehension skills of the pupils and students.

PATRICIA SCA P. GONZALEZ, incoming SFS Junior student, won another GOLD MEDAL at the National All Women's Taekwondo Championship held this afternoon, 23 May 2010, at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Enrollment for the coming School Year 2010-2011 officially began last 04 May 2010 where parents/guardians of KinderPrep, Grade 1 pupils and First Year high school students patiently waited for their turn inspite of the intense humidity and heat. CONGRATULATIONS TO PATRICIA SCA P. GONZALEZ!


Incoming Junior student Patricia sca P. Gonzalez, participating in the Taekwondo event at the 2010 Palarong Pambansa at Tarlac City, won two Gold Medals (one for individual poomsae, the other in sparring) and a Bronze Medal for team event in poomsae; because of her achievements, she was adjudged as the Taekwondo Girls MVP for the said prestigious sports event of the country. Her proud and beaming parents, Tanny and Wilma, immediately relayed this news and expressed their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who gave their for their daughter. Meanwhile, incoming School Director, Fr. Edgardo A. Alutaya OFM, and in the name of the school community, extended his congratulatory greetings to the Gonzalez family for this sterling achievement.
