ABSTRACT A shaping machine is also called as shaper is mainly used for producing flat surface,which may be horizontal,vertical or inclined.A shaper is used to machine a single job by using single point cutting tool and hence it can’t be used for high production rates.A hydraulic source power with control accessories is used to drive the ram or the cylinder piston to obtained the forward and return stroke.By this arrangement the forward/reverse stroke of the hydraulic cylinder is adjustable as compared with conventional machines.
INTRODUCTION In past years,conventional mechanical shaper machine is used in industries.In this shaper macine gear arrangement is used to give linear motion to the machine tool towards the workpiece.The workpiece is mount on a rigid,box shaped table in front of the machine. In modern era whole mechanical shaper machines are replaced by hydraulic shaper machine due its ease operation and reliability.In this modern shaper machine whole construction is same but method of actuation is changed.The gear arrangement is totally replaced by double acting hydraulic cylinder.
CONDITIONS
1 . During forward stroke we have to control flow of the fluid.. 2 . During return stroke we need quick return mechanism

DISADVANTAGES 1. Due to hydraulic oil there is more chances of leakage. 2 . High initial cost. 3. High maintenance required. 4 . There is more chances of oil burst.
APPLICATIONS 1. To generate flat and straight surface. 2 . To generate smooth surface. 3 . To make internal splines. 4 . To make gear teeth. 5 . To make keyways in gear and pullies.
