Nidhi Deshpande 431 Westfallen Dr. Cary, NC 27519 August 7, 2015 Dear Nidhi, Youth Futures International appreciates your participation in the Ultimate Med Internship (UMI) held in Ahmedabad, India from June 18-July 5, 2015 at NHL Medical College and VS Hospital. The UMI is an honors-only program for high school and undergraduate students from across the United States who have a strong desire to become physicians, medical researchers, nurses, or to pursue careers in other fields related to health care. We thank you for your contributions to the program and hope the UMI was all that you hoped it would be, that you took the opportunity to make new friends, and, most importantly, gained greater insight into what an education and career in medicine will require. The purpose of the Ultimate Med Internship is to provide a close look at what a career in medicine entails by having students shadow doctors on rounds in various specialties and view live surgeries as well as take part in lectures and labs. Due to this unique exposure, students were introduced to emergency medicine, ophthalmology, pharmacology, microbiology, orthopedics, neurology, pathology, biochemistry, forensic medicine, pediatrics, anatomy, internal medicine, cardiology, obstetrics and gynecology, and general surgery in both a hospital and medical college setting. We hope that the UMI provided you with the motivation and inspiration to pursue your dream of a career in medicine. And, in the event that it showed you that medicine is not ultimately for you, we hope you now feel free to pursue other avenues. In either case, you should take great pride in having been part of this wonderful event, and hope the experience remains very much a part of your life no matter what you do. Again, we thank you for making us an integral part of your educational and career pursuits and know that the UMI was successful because of you and everyone else who participated.
