The act of laying hands on the human or animal body to comfort and relieve pain is as old as instinct. When experiencing pain, the first thing most people do is to put their hands on it. When a child falls and scrapes her knee, she wants her mother to touch, or kiss it, and make it better. A mother's instinct when a child is feverish or ill, directs her to place her hands on the baby's forehead. Human touch conveys caring and love. When an animal is in pain, its first instinct is to lick the location of unease or discomfort — for the same reasons that a person applies touch with his hands. This simple act is the basis for all touch healing techniques.
What is Reiki Ryôhô? Reiki Ryôhô is an ancient healing art, which channels Universal Life Energy through the hands of a practitioner into the body of a receiver. It belongs to anyone who is ready to receive the gift of healing hands. In the West, the term Reiki (霊気 / 靈氣 or レイキ) is defined as Universal Life Force (Rei) Energy (Ki). Ki flows through everything that is alive, including our own individual vital life energy. This energy is known to the Chinese as Chi or Qi, to the Hindus as Prana, to the Kahunas as Mana and the Christians as Light. It is also called Bioplasma or Cosmic Energy. Reiki Ryôhô (Jap. Lit. Aura Healing) according to the Japanese is one of many natural systems of energy healing. When Usui was given this new healing technique, the term Reiki Ryôhô was already in use in Japan. This specific type that originates from Usui is called Usui Shiki Reiki Ryôhô ( 臼井式霊気療法) or Usui Reiki Ryôhô (臼井霊気療法) The Reiki system is a simple and powerful system of energy work that anyone can learn to use. It helps for development on physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels. Since Reiki Ryôhô helps the source of the illness to emerge, the recipient is likely to take more responsibility and be more in charge of his/her own life. The practitioner uses the Reiki energy to move and balance energy, remove blocks and repair tears in the aura which helps to restore well-being. Second degree level practitioners are able to give treatments without touching the recipient and send treatments over any distance.
• Energy effective for life: Once the channel to Reiki energy is opened during attunement, the ability to use Reiki will never disappear. • Empowerment: The Reiki healing power increases with the frequency of practice. Reiki energy is inexhaustible. • No need for concentration or effort: The necessary amount of Reiki energy flows out automatically. • No harmful effects: The essence of Reiki is pure light. It never transports negative energy, so the practitioner will never be adversely affected by giving Reiki treatments and the recipient will never be harmed.

• No faith necessary: Reiki has nothing to do with religion or creed. Its effects do not depend on the belief in Reiki Ryôhô, either. • Is an all-purpose energy: Reiki healing can be practiced not just on people, but on both living things (animals and plants) and inanimate objects (minerals, geographical locations, machines, etc.) • Can be combined with other healing techniques: Reiki Ryôhô can increase the effectiveness of conventional medicine, acupuncture, qi gong, massage, etc. • Transcends time and space: Reiki’s healing power can be directed to distant places, the past and the future. • Leads to Enlightenment: Reiki Ryôhô’s self-purification and meditation techniques will allow the practitioner to be in constant resonance with the universe, and selfactualization can be achieved.

Usui Reiki Ryôhô Tuition? Usui Reiki Ryôhô courses are for beginners, or can be picked up at the specific level Reiki you are practising at present. The difference between the Traditional Usui Reiki Ryôhô and regular Western Reiki courses is that the initiation process, course information and techniques taught, stem directly from Japan, rather than from the West. The teachings also have a different focus than the Western forms of the Reiki system. The focus is on personal development and spirituality. All students are asked to continue practising after the courses conclude, because each course traditionally, is considered to be an introduction to that level — and, consequently a high level of ongoing is offered to all students.
Shoden (Level 1 Training) Prerequisite: None Shoden is the Japanese word for 'first teaching', as this is the first step one takes in the ongoing journey toward selfrealisation through the system of Reiki. Within Shoden, you learn the essence of the system; how it works, its benefits and why we need to practise on ourselves on an ongoing basis. Self-healing is the focus of Shoden. A wonderful by-product of this personal awareness is that you will also learn the skills to be able to help your friends and family — and perform Reiki treatments. After completing Shoden, you will feel competent in progressing further on your quest for internal happiness and well-being — equipped with the traditional techniques taught to you. For those interested in working on a deeper and more professional level, Okuden (Level II) will be the next step
Topics covered in the Shoden Training: • Reiki Ryôhô background information, incl. history • Hatsurei Ho (method for generating greater amounts of spiritual energy) • Byosen Reikan Ho (method for sensing imbalances, incl. understanding levels of Byosen) • Jakikiri Joka Ho (method for energetically cleansing and enhancing inanimate objects) • Nentatsu Ho (method to empower affirmations)
• • • •
Gyoshi Ho (method for sending ki with the eyes) Nadete Chiryo Ho (method of stroking with the hands) Chakra balancing techniques and more...
Okuden (Level 2 Training) Prerequisite: Shoden (from any Usui Reiki Ryôhô Master) Okuden is a Japanese word meaning 'inner teachings'. As the word implies, a deeper understanding and connection to the teachings of Usui-san is achieved during this course. Students are introduced to shirushi (symbols) and jumon (mantras), which will enable the student to enhance his/her own energy levels and sensitivity. There are many aspects to the shirushi and jumon, which include chanting and visualisation techniques. Rather than being external tools — the focus here is on internal use for spiritual development. Additional Japanese Reiki techniques are offered to assist spiritual growth even further.
Topics covered in the Okuden Training: • 3 Reiki Symbols, including how to draw them • Kikou Face Massage • Hatsurei Ho (method for generating greater amounts of spiritual energy) • Reiju Ho (advanced form of Byosen Reikan Ho) • Hanshin / Zenshin Koketsu Ho (half- and full-body energy circulation method) • Hesso Chiryo Ho (method for healing at the navel) • Koki Ho (method for sending ki with the breath) • Saibo Kassei Kokyu Ho (method for vitalising the cells through breath) • Tanden Chiryo Ho (detoxifying and purifying method) • Nadete Chiryo Ho (method of stroking with the hands) • Oshite Chiryo Ho (method for using pressure with the hands) • Uchite Chiryo Ho (method of patting with the hands) • Advanced chakra balancing techniques • and more...
Shinpiden (Master Level Training) Prerequisite: Okuden (from any Usui Reiki Ryôhô Master) Shinpiden is the Japanese word for ‘mystery teachings’. It is aimed at Okuden practitioners who wish to continue their personal journey, a journey that is ongoing long after you complete the Shinpiden course. It is therefore not just about
teaching and is even suitable for those who wish to simply develop their personal Reiki practise and occasionally teach those around them.
In this Journey, you will learn how to incorporate these teachings into your treatments, whilst giving you space to focus on self-healing and self-development.
One of the major focuses of this course is to tap into the sense that you are, and always were, a great, bright light. Learn the physical features of the attunement and Reiju, as well as its esoteric understandings. Be guided with your spiritual practice and see how it can now become totally integrated into your everyday life. Develop further your personal knowledge and experience of the concept of Oneness. This is essential for successfully performing of the attunement and Reiju processes.
This Journey is meant ONLY for Reiki Master Practitioners and Teachers of all major branches of Reiki Ryôhô, not limited to Usui Reiki Ryôhô.
Topics covered in the Shinpiden Training: • Revision of all Shoden and Okuden techniques • Kuji-in (9 Seals — mudra meditations for spiritual development) • 4 more Reiki Symbols, including how to draw them • Kikou Face Massage • 4 Kikou Techniques (Three Circle Stance, Lifting the Sky, Carrying the Moon and Pushing Mountains) • Shou Shu Ten Ko (Microcosmic Orbit) • Ketsukei Kohan (advanced form of hanshin / zenshin koketsu ho) • Sekizui jiko Ibuki Ho (method of cleansing the spinal cord with breath) • Chiyakura Kassei Kokyu Ho (method to activate the chakras) • Hado Kokyu Ho (method of vibrational breathing) • Hado Meiso Ho (method of vibrational meditation) • Learn how to perform Self-Reiju • Learn how to Reiju to others • Learn how to the attunement to students • Teaching skills • and more...
