Ben Carson es negro y esa condición es una desventaja social en casi todo el mundo. En Estados Unidos, la segregación racial no acabaría formalmente hasta mucho después de su nacimiento, de modo que, desde niño, tuvo que lidiar con ello. Además, cuando tenía 8 años, sus padres se divorciaron y tuvo que mudarse a Detroit, con su madre y su hermano. A veces nos sentimos sin esperanza. Somos presa fácil de la desesperación y la decepción. La película nos enseña a dejar de sentir lástima por nosotros mismos y, más bien, buscar la manera de solucionar los problemas. A título personal, me enseñó que el mejor camino para salir de la pobreza es el estudio. Al joven Carson le sucedió así. Por la influencia positiva de su señora madre, él pudo desarrollar su capacidad de análisis y su capacidad de pensamiento.



¿Cómo te hizo sentir la película?

La película me hizo sentir muy emocionada. La vi en el silencio de la madrugada. Yo pude concentrarme en el desarrollo de la trama. Yo pude vivir cada momento. Buscó la solución de una manera aislada, pero al mismo tiempo les daba una voz de aliento para que no se rindieran. Cambió hábitos malos como ver excesivamente la televisión por hábitos buenos como elaborar informes con base a lectura de libros.

La película tiene un alto contenido moral y de superación personal. Creo que podemos usarla para realizar terapias y rescatar los valores en cuanto al estudio.
