ANALYSIS – Stardust – Louis Armstrong Stardust is a popular American standard originally composed by Hoagy Carmicheal. The adaptation I will be performing is the 1931 arrangement by famous jazz trumpet player Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong. This arrangement demonstrates many of the early “trad jazz” techniques that shape modern contemporary jazz styles and improvisation. Compositions of this nature were pivotal to the direction of jazz trumpet playing and improvisation.
