Enoch and the 77 generations “And the Lord said unto Michael: 'Go, bind Semjâzâ and his associates who have united themselves with women so as to have defiled themselves with them in all their uncleanness. 12. And when their sons have slain one another, and they have seen the destruction of their beloved ones, bind them fast for seventy generations in the valleys of the earth, until the day of their judgment and of their consummation, until the judgment that is forever and ever is consummated. 13. In those days they shall be led off to the abyss of fire: (and) to the torment and the prison in which they shall be confined forever. And whosoever shall be condemned and destroyed will from thenceforth be bound together with them to the end of all generations.” In other words, the day of judgment takes place seventy generations after Enoch. Now the patriarch lived in the seventh generation, and we may therefore conclude that the author of the Book of the Watchers assumed that the judgment would be in the seventy-seventh generation. Exactly seventy generations from Enoch, Jesus was born. This was also a time of much demonic activity. Jesus had many encounters, including the time he met a demon by the name Legion, that was filled with many demons, and he drove the spirits from the man, into a group of pigs.
