There is one marketing channel you’re probably underutilizing in your online business. And it is costing you money. Before I started learning digital marketing, I thought of email mainly as a communication tool. I would get the occasional email from a brand or company, but I never thought of it as a way to generate revenue. I saw email as a way of sending a message that would just become obsolete in a couple of years.
stats from Hubspot’s 2017 Marketing Statistics report:

email offers “excellent” to “good” ROI.

I was so wrong.
(HubSpot, 2017)
Experienced digital marketers and entrepreneurs agree that email is perhaps the most effective marketing channel out there. I have seen this myself. Social media and advertising get all the buzz...but, at the end of the day, email brings in the money.
Email use worldwide will top

If we compare email marketing to other marketing channels, the benefits are clear: Unlike other channels, your email list is 100% yours. Social media sites change their algorithms and platforms go out of style, your list is comprised of people who specifically opted in for you and will be more likely to stick around and care about what you have to say.
You have control of your list and you’re in charge of who sees what and when. If you are promoting your new course you’ll know that your entire list will have an email from you at the top of their emails every morning.
Even if you compare email versus paid advertising, email still comes out on top. Instead of paying heavens knows how much hoping the right person will see your ad and buy, you can send an email to people who have already qualified themselves as the right target audience and know they will be more likely to buy. The bottom line is: if you haven’t developed a comprehensive email marketing strategy, you have an opportunity to massively grow your business. We’re here to help.
This guide will show you exactly how to use email marketing to turn your subscribers into customers.

1 WELCOME EMAIL CAMPAIGNS Why are welcome emails important? Hola. Hi. Namaste. Hello, you’re awesome! Welcome to the Cult. These are all ways I’ve been greeted online after giving a company my email address. While the introductions vary in tone, length and humor (I promise I’m not in a cult, just a workout bootcamp), one thing remains the same: you should send a great welcome email. A welcome email has an 4x higher open rate and a 5x higher click rate than other promotional emails, according to Experian. You’re not going to get this level of attention with this much ease ever again. Time invested in creating a great welcome email will impact each of your relationships with new sign ups and grow your email list.

2 NEWSLETTER EMAILS Why are newsletter emails important? As you build your email list, it’s crucial that you stay connected to your audience by periodically emailing them with new content and updates, so when you want to sell something you’ve already given week’s and week’s worth of valuable content.
Newsletter email examples I collected these emails by looking deep into our inboxes for those I ed off the top of my head after reading thousand of newsletters over the past 9 months. They stood out. The were ed. They were a cut above the rest.

NEWSLETTER - JOANNA WIEBE, COPYHACKERS [1/2]
what copy hackers do instead of putting off tough tasks Joanna Wiebe <
[email protected]> to me Have you ever found yourself procrastinating? Sure you have. I have. We all do it. Some stuff we put off because it’s monotonous or dull work we just don’t want to do. Like washing the dishes. Or folding the laundry. But then there are the other things. The things we put off because we don’t know how to do them. Like writing a cold email to ask someone influential to try your product. Or installing a new deck. Or repairing the ceiling. Or plotting an autoresponder series. Or writing a sales page. What’s the one thing that breaks the pattern of procrastination? What’s the most powerful force in the battle against delaying? Writers have been talking about it for years. They’ve used it to break writer’s block, which is just a form of procrastination. Any idea what it is? It’s research. We tend to put off things we don’t know how to do simply because we don’t know how to do them the right way. We don’t want to spend time and money building a deck if it’s just gonna wobble, soak up rain and collapse under the weight of our BBQ guests. But when it comes time to build that deck - when the BBQ is planned and we’ve gotta have somewhere for our guests to mingle - we do a little research, and, quite suddenly, we feel much better about doing the inevitable. We can conquer the thing we feared… once we know how to. Now another question for you, along the same lines…

what copy hackers do instead of putting off tough tasks Joanna Wiebe <
[email protected]> to me Have you ever found that, when it comes time to write copy for your business, you put it off and put it off and put it off? I have, and I write for a living. It’s my freakin’ job, and i procrastinate. If you don’t know how to write a headline, you don’t want to do it. Samezies with an email. And a landing page. And, hell, even a tweet! It’s not until you research how to write X that you feel prepared to write X. Obvious, right? Well let’s take it a little further. Did you know that the best copywriters rely on research to find the words to use? To find the messages to communicate? So there are 2 kinds of research you should keep in mind when writing:
1. Research to find out how to write something.
2. Research to find out what words to use.
In my first ebook and most popular book - Where Stellar Messages Come From - I highlight the most useful ways to find your messages without looking inside your head (where messages that convert visitors are most definitely not waiting in the shadows)... So try this and see if it works for you… [video] Click to watch a video with a full explanation of what to do to find your messages the way conversion copywriters do it See you tomorrow, Jo

NEWSLETTER - NOAH KAGAN, OKDORK.COM [1/2]
It’s my birthday! Noah Kagan <
[email protected]> to me A few weeks ago I read an article where the writer said, “I’m only going to experience my sons birthday 8 times until he’s 8 years old.” That finiteness of time really stuck with me:
How many times can I actually listen to this song?
How many times can I eat at Taco Deli?
How many emails can I ever send you?
There’s only so much of everything. That’s why it’s critical to be intentional about who and how you are spending your life everyday. In honor of that I thought I’d write up a few KEY things I’ve learned in the past year: 1- Surround yourself with people who are better than you. I ed a ping pong league and I lose every week. Normally when I play my friends, I completely dominate them. While it feels nice to win, losing and being around better players helps me elevate my game. 2- It’s your responsibility to make it fun. I LOVE marketing. I could do it all day long. But as the leader of SumoME, there are other things I should be spending my time on, and we have a great team doing marketing already. So I was “stuck” with the job of recruiting. I avoided it for weeks. Then I did whatever it could to make it more like marketing (new hacks to find people) and had WAY more fun with the interviews. Pro-tip: Try for a week to embrace the hardest challenge in your life. 3- Winners suffer longer. SumoMe.com has not been easy in the past 2+ years. People quit, we lose revenue, servers go down and more. But, I truly believe in what we are doing and believe whoever can hustle the longest will get what they want. How long have you committed to what you’re doing? 4- Clear goals are the only way to get what you want. I want to do a handstand this year. It’s freaking hard. Don’t glare at me you freaking yoga-hipster who can do some magic shit.

NEWSLETTER - NOAH KAGAN, OKDORK.COM [2/2]
It’s my birthday! Noah Kagan <
[email protected]> to me So I wrote my goal down on a piece of paper, added it to my calendar, and make sure it’s in front of me every freaking day. Then my buddy Chris sent me his handstand plan and i follow it. Each day it gets a bit easier. You have to know your final destination and have a plan to get there to accomplish anything in life. 5- You can’t do it alone. You’ll need . You can’t have babies without a partner. It’s the same for everything in life. Get people around you to be there when you need them. The people in my life: Adam, Natalie, JR, Seth, Brian, Neville, Chad, Anton, all the Sumos, parents, you my dorky readers, and more! 6- It costs you nothing to ask. One of the most effective things you can do to get what you want is just ask for it. Not enough people do this. I emailed our credit card processor and asked if they could lower our fees. That email took me 12 seconds to write. They lowered our fees and it’s saving us $15k+ a year. Worth it. The worse they could have said is “no”. Since not asking is the same as them saying no, all you have is UPSIDE in asking. 7- Multiply yourself SumoMe has grown from 5 to 20 people. There’s NO way we could be anywhere close to where we are without the dream team we’ve assembled. In your company, multiply yourself (and therefore your business) by hiring people better than you. Name any company you ire and recognize that it’s all the excellent people ing a great vision that make the business a reality. Here’s to another 364 days of awesomeness. Thanks for reading, cheering, ing and kicking ass for yourself. Love, Noah “tacos” Kagan Ps. For my birthday, tell everyone a life lesson you want to share.

NEWSLETTER - SETH GODIN, SETHGODIN.COM [1/2]
Seth’s Blog : Infrastructure Seth Godin <
[email protected]> to me Infrastructure The ignored secret behind successful organizations (and nations) is infrastructure. Not the content of what’s happening, but the things that allow that content to turn into something productive. Here are some elements worth considering: Transportation: Ideas and stuff have to move around. The more quickly, efficiently and safely, the better. This is not just roads, but wifi, community centers and even trade shows. Getting things, people and ideas from one place to another, safely and on time is essential to what we seek to build. Expectation: When people wake up in the morning expecting good things to happen, believing that things are possible, open to new ideas--those beliefs become self-fulfilling. We expect that it’s possible to travel somewhere safely, and we expect that speaking up about new idea won’t lead us to get fired. People in trauma can’t learn or leap or produce very much. Education: When we are surrounded by people who are skilled, smart and confident, far more gets done. When we learn something new, our productivity goes up. Civility: Not just table manners, but an environment without bullying, without bribery, without coercion. Clean air, not just to breathe, but to speak in. Infrastructure and culture overlap in a thousand ways. At the organizational level, then, it’s possible to invest in a workplace where things work, where the tools are at hand, where meetings don’t paralyze progress, where decisions get made when they need to get made (and where they don’t get undone). It’s possible to build a workplace where people expect good things, from their leaders and their peers and the market. Where we expect to be heard when we have something to say, and expect that with hard work, we can make a difference. It’s possible to invest in hiring people who are educated (not merely good grades, but good intent) and to keep those people trained and up to speed. And it’s essential for that workplace to be one where the rule of law prevails, where people are treated with dignity and respect and where short term urgency is never used as a chance to declare martial law and abandon the principles that built the organization in the first place. Yes, I believe the same is true for nation states. It’s not sexy to talk about building or maintaining an infrastructure, but just try to change the world without one.

NEWSLETTER - SETH GODIN, SETHGODIN.COM [2/2]
Seth’s Blog : Infrastructure Seth Godin <
[email protected]> to me Here’s something that’s unavoidably true: Investing in infrastructure always pays off. Always. Not just most of the time, but every single time. Sometimes the payoff takes longer than we’d like, sometimes there may be more efficient ways to get the same result, but every time we spend time and money on the four things, we’re surprised at how much of a difference it makes. It’s also worth noting that for organizations and countries, infrastructure investments are most effective when they are centralized and consistent. Bootstrapping is a great concept, but it works best when we’re in an environment that encourages it. The biggest difference between 2015 and 1915 aren’t the ideas we have or the humans around us. It’s the technology, the civilization and the expectations in our infrastructure. Where you’re born has more to do with your future than just about anything else, and that’s because of infrastructure. When we invest (and it’s expensive) in all four of these elements, things get better. It’s easy to take them for granted, which is why visiting an organization or nation that doesn’t have them is such a powerful wake up call. {Ready}

3 CART-ABANDONMENT EMAILS Why are cart-abandonment emails important? In your online business, abandoned carts happen when website visitors start the checkout process for a product but leave your site before completing the purchase. According to the market research website Statista, the average United States e-commerce shopping cart abandonment rate during the last quarter of 2015 was 75.6%. Moreover, this number has never been lower than 67.5% since Statista started tracking abandonment percentages five years ago. This is a tough reality check for most people who are new to online business. These numbers surprised me–and I’ve been doing this for a while now! But don’t let this data discourage you. This is not the end of the story. Once you’ve made peace with the fact that most people who start your checkout process will not finish it, you will be able to see abandoned carts as they really are: an opportunity.
People who did not finish your checkout process did something very important: they started it. These website visitors have given you a clear signal that they have a need and they believe your product is the solution to that need. Probably no other visitor segment is closer to buying from you than this one.
Let’s say that you currently make $1,000 per month with your online product. If you recover just 5% of the sales you lose from abandoned carts (using a 75% cart abandonment rate), that means you could be making an extra $2,400 per year, or about 2.5 extra months of revenue (!!!).

4 WEBINAR EMAILS Why are webinar emails important? A webinar is a powerful tool for making money online...but why is that? Here are a few reasons webinars can make such a difference to your bottom line: Webinars are a great way to build your email list Whenever you host a webinar, anyone g up for the event is also adding their email to your subscriber list. This is HUGE, because there’s nothing more important to growing your online business than your email list. Your email list gives you direct access to your audience and to your customers, and it’s a group of people who opted in and asked you to engage with them. The larger your list, the more people you can get interested in your online product. Webinars convert like crazy The standard conversion rate on an email, from opening the email to purchasing, is around 2–3%. And according to ConversionXL, conversion rates on social media posts are lower than 1%. We’ve seen course creators host webinars that consistently convert at a rate of 30%–40%! A number like this is incredibly powerful. It means that even if you have a small audience—and most of us just starting out do—you can still make money with webinars.

5 LAUNCH EMAILS Why are launch emails important? Everyone who creates a course hopes to launch it - hit publish and watch the sales roll in. But the pressure to get it right and make it work can feel almost insurmountable. Pulling inspiration from our 12K course launches, hours of research, data mining and launches of our own, I’m going to give you everything you need to launch your online product. Think strategy, timing and advice for your copy.
Launch email examples One of our favorite example launch campaigns comes from Nat Eliason and Justin Mares, creators of the Become a Technical Marketer course. Nat and Justin did a pre-sale and a launch and grossed $58,150 in sales. (You can read the entire case study of Nat and Justin’s launch here.)

But first we need to ask you a favor… We’re really close to wrapping up our long-awaited technical marketing master class. We will be releasing it in mid-June. But before we do, we have to ask you a quick question. Can you help us out? You can answer the question (and get a little more detail on the master class) at this link: [include link here]

PRE-LAUNCH EMAIL #2 - NAT ELIASON, BECOME A TECHNICAL MARKETER [1/2]
Justin & Nat
to me A recent study from job-search site Indeed.com showed that the average marketer makes roughly $64,000... while the average technical marketer (or “growth” person) makes $83,024. Guess what separates these two groups of people (besides the car payment for a BMW)... Technical skills! But, picking up technical skills can be horribly painful. Learning to program is hard. There’s a reason Google and Facebook pay entry-level programmers $100k+. When I started developing technical marketing skills as the head of growth for Exceptional Cloud Services (which Rackspace acquired for $10m+), it was painful. But, I had to do it. I was tired of waiting days to make a small copy change to our website, or have to wait for developers to run a simple SQL query for me. I was sick of being unable to dig into marketing campaign data, and tired of asking others to create landing pages for me. In short, I was tired of feeling like I was bad at my job and a burden to the team. So, I decided I’d had enough. I decided to teach myself the technical skills that would allow me to excel as a marketer. Now, I did it the hard way: I tried learning programming from scratch. But after going through tutorial after tutorial, I found out there’s a huge difference between learning how to build an app and learning enough programming to be a dangerous marketer. So far, every site out there is obsessed with option A: teaching you to become a developer. Trust me, I know. Look at all of the courses I’ve taken on Codecademy! Once I learned just enough to become dangerous (just a bit of HTML, CSS, SQL and how to use GitHub and Terminal), I immediately became more effective. I was less of a drain on team resources and built out 50+ landing pages all on my own. I thought this was the coolest thing ever :) Just learning how to make changes to our web page (after learning the basics of HTML and CSS) allowed me to run an A/B test that bumped our s by more than 20% in a week. That was a good week. My new technical skills made me more effective, allowed me to get more done, and made me a better team member. It’s also made me a more attractive candidate in the job market: since leaving Rackspace, I’ve gotten many offers from companies desperate for marketers who understand how to leverage technical skills. In fact, virality expert Andrew Chen (advisor to companies like Quora, Facebook and SumoMe) has talked about how technical marketers - “growth hackers” - are responsible for the growth of companies like Uber,

to me Facebook, Dropbox and Slack. “The new job title of “Growth Hacker” is integrating itself into Silicon Valley’s culture, emphasizing that coding and technical chops are now an essential part of being a great marketer.” In today’s day and age when you can no longer take out an ad in a newspaper and assume your product will sell, understanding how to make use of technical tools and resources is MASSIVELY important. However, as I found out, you don’t need to learn programming to become a technical marketer! Instead, you can learn and apply a few technical concepts we’ve covered in our free email course - things like automatically building your Twitter following using programming scripts - to do more with your marketing, and get 80% of the benefits of being technical. You can do cool things like build your Twitter following automatically like we show in this BONUS video. If you don’t believe me, check out today’s video on how you can automatically re-share your content using a simple Twitter script that we pulled together just for you (it’s not available publicly). Click here (or above) to get it. In 2 days, we’ll illustrate this concept even more by sending you another video showing you how to mine your Twitter followers for high-quality people to engage with without having to write a single line of code.

PRE-LAUNCH EMAIL #3 - NAT ELIASON, BECOME A TECHNICAL MARKETER [1/2]
Justin & Nat
to me Wow, thanks for the many questions and comments on our last lesson! In the last email, we showed you why becoming a technical marketer is such a good investment (you get paid more, can do more, and can automate many tedious aspects of your work), and showed you how to automate sharing your evergreen content on Twitter. Some people asked if technical marketing skills were only applicable to early stage tech companies. Recently, IDC surveyed hundreds of CMOs from every industry, and reported that these CMOs - the people responsible for shaping the marketing industry for the next decade - said that “50% of new marketing hires will have technical backgrounds.” This means that - if you’re planning on a career in marketing and aren’t technical - you better hope you don’t compete for your job with someone that’s technical. Though technical marketing may have first received attention thanks to the technical “growth hacks” used by companies like AirBnB, Twitter, and Facebook, now every field wants (and needs) to tap into the unique skillset of marketers with technical skills. This is why Nat and I are so ionate about helping marketers become technical: because it’s critically important to their jobs. In fact, Stephan Heller - head of Merchant Marketing and Inbound Sales at Groupon had this to say about our free email course: “After going through the Programming for Marketers email course, I had my entire team at Groupon go through it... I recommend it to any other “non-technical” marketer in the company.” Groupon - the fastest growing company in web history - wants a more technical marketing team that can do more, learn more, and execute marketing campaigns faster and more efficiently. However, they don’t want to waste time teaching their marketing hires how to code: after all, few marketers need to know how to build an iPhone app from scratch, or how to spin up a web server. Instead, these technical marketers want to do things like automatically public Twitter data for everyone who follows their page and mine it to figure out who their followers are, and what kinds of content they’ll like. Today, we pulled together a short video that will show you how to do just that: (Or go here to get it.) Now, the crazy thing about the above video is that you can get this information simply by understanding how to run a simple programming script. Wait... you didn’t see a programming script?

PRE-LAUNCH EMAIL #3 - NAT ELIASON, BECOME A TECHNICAL MARKETER [2/2]
Justin & Nat
to me That’s because it’s hidden behind the Google Spreadsheet: you don’t even need to see it! And guess what: that’s how easy technical marketing can be! Becoming a technical marketer doesn’t take years of study or an $80k computer science degree. In fact, you can run your own programming scripts, build Python scrapers and create landing pages with just a day or two of learning the core concepts that marketers need to know... not all the other stuff that’s important only if you’re trying to create the next Instagram. Simply by learning a few simple concepts - like how to read and run programming scripts - you’ll become one of the most technical (and most valuable) marketers in the world. In our next email, we’ll show you how to automate some of the most useful analytics queries you regularly run, using a special spreadsheet that we whipped up just for you. . But for now, can you click here to tweet at us and let us know what you thought of today’s lesson? How are you going to use your new social data mining abilities?

PRE-LAUNCH EMAIL #4 - NAT ELIASON, BECOME A TECHNICAL MARKETER [1/2]
Justin & Nat
to me Thank you for all your comments and excitement over our last email. We’re excited that YOU’RE excited to learn and apply the different technical marketing concepts we’ve covered, and we consider ourselves very fortunate that we can share more tips with you all. In our last email, we showed you why becoming a technical marketer is such a good investment (you get paid more, can do more, and can automate many tedious aspects of your work), and showed you how to pull down all of your Twitter followers’ info and mine it for good leads. We’ve also covered various ways we’ve used technical marketing in our respective careers, and shown you the kinds of results we’ve achieved by using technical tools. As promised, we have even more goodies for you. At least 95% of marketers we know use Google Analytics to check on top referral sources, top keywords, which campaigns are performing the best, etc. But checking it in Google Analytics requires the same annoying steps and filtering every. single. time. No more. We built a spreadsheet for you that will automatically sync with your Google Analytics and create the reports you need (and has the ability to create any others you want!). Go here to get it. But however great it is that we can show you step-by-step how to do something like mining your Twitter followers, it’s no replacement for giving you the skills to do these kinds of things on your own (you know, teach a man to fish and all). That’s why we’ve spent hundreds of hours learning these skills and distilling them down to the essentials you need to become a technical marketer. Where all other “learn to program courses” take months and hundreds of hours to get through, we teach you the core concepts you need to become technical in less than a few hours a week. This is also why we started at the beginning. So that you - a non- technical marketer - can learn and apply these skills even if you have zero technical knowledge. This is the goal of what we’re doing at Programming for Marketers: make every marketer on the planet technically proficient. We don’t ever want marketers cleaning data in Excel or manually running weekly reports. Instead, we want you all out there doing things! Running new campaigns, reaching new customers, automating tedious aspects of your job... and getting paid better than ever before to do so. If you know you need to improve your marketing skills and become more technical, this course is a perfect fit. This isn’t just a bunch of hacks or high-level blog posts strung together. It’s a system to give you the technical skills you need to level up in today’s marketing world. How can you enroll in the course? Tomorrow (Tuesday, June 9) at 10:00 am EST, we’re going to open up the first ever Technical Marketing

to me Master Class for enrollment. To our knowledge, this is the only course in the world that teaches marketers how to become technical, without the need to fully learn programming. However, since every student has personal interaction with us, we’re going to be limiting the number of students that can the class to ensure that we have enough 1-on-1 time with each student. Tomorrow morning I’ll be emailing you a link with more details and instructions on how to enroll. Stay tuned, Justin & Nat P.S.: Today’s action items: Action Item #1: Write down what would be different in your life and work if you had technical skills. Action Item #2: Hit reply and tell me what you would DO tomorrow if you woke up and had the skills (HTML, CSS, SQL) of a technical marketer. Example: “I would update our website without having to wait for engineering to make the changes I want.” Take 15 minutes. Think about what it would be like. Then hit reply and share it with me. P.P.S.: Be looking out for tomorrow’s email with more details on the course and enrollment info.

to me Hey there, For the past few days, I’ve been working on adding some awesome bonuses to the Become a Technical Marketer course. Welp, this afternoon I’ve been busy hammering out the details. I think you’ll like them. Here they are: Bonus #1: Photoshop CS6 Tutorial (normally $199) I’m REALLY excited about this! This is my friend Jeremy Shuback’s flagship product. It’s helped thousands of people learn photoshop effectively, which can be incredibly useful when creating elements for a landing page, editing an ad, or tweaking a logo. Many of you mentioned that you wished you knew a bit more design. This class will help - you’ll learn how to leverage the world’s most popular design tool (Photoshop) in the world. With this bonus you’ll get immediate access to his entire course, forever. All included in your purchase of Become a Technical Marketer. BOOM! Bonus #2: 3 Months Free of Moz.com SEO Tools Suite (normally $198) This is my favorite tool for SEO. If you’re trying to grow your social footprint or your organic traffic, Moz’s suite of tools is a must- have. Whether you get it for free with this course or not, I highly recommend using it. Bonus #3: Digital Copy of Traction: A Startup Guide to Getting Customers What is the VERY hardest thing to do when you’re trying to run a business? No, it isn’t building a product... It’s getting traction. Traction (warning: as the co-author, I’m a bit biased :)) will help you figure out which of the 19 possible traction channels make sense for your business. The book is full of case studies, research, and interviews with 40+ founders (including the founders of Wikipedia, reddit, Kayak and more) about how they got traction. With this bonus, you’ll get a copy of Traction for free to go with the other 2 bonuses. How do you get the bonuses? Easy. 51 | teachable.com

LAUNCH EMAIL #4 - NAT ELIASON, BECOME A TECHNICAL MARKETER [1/2]
Justin & Nat
to me Just a friendly Wednesday morning note about something time- sensitive... If you followed along with the Google Analytics reporting spreadsheet we sent out last week, you know that I’ve opened up registration to my new course on how to become a technical marketer... Become a Technical Marketer (we’re not creative at naming things). This course covers everything we’ve used to automate outreach marketing campaigns, gain thousands of Twitter followers, dig into data using SQL and create and update landing pages without the help of developers. It’s also the reason I got a $60k raise within 12 months, as I went from a junior marketer to a technical growth practitioner. Here’s the time-sensitive part: The biggest problem I have is taking action. I over-analyze things, and come up with excuses for not moving forward. I want to make sure you don’t struggle with the same things I do. So... Two days ago I added three bonuses as an incentive for you to take action right now. ...and here is the time-sensitive part: All 3 of those bonuses will go away at 11:59 p.m. PST today (Wed, June 17). No more procrastinating. Here are the bonuses: Bonus #1: Photoshop CS6 Tutorial (normally $199) This course will show you how to go from someone begging designers to help you make a single change in photoshop, to someone who’s capable and confident with design and photoshop. That’s just a few hours from now. This course was designed specifically for marketers who want to learn technical skills. It’s for marketers like me who’ve tried to pick up programming by reading tutorials and articles online for years... yet were never able to learn from resources created for people who want to become developers. Try Become a Technical Marketer today (enroll here) Reminder: Everyone who enrolls today in the Become a Technical Marketer Master Course will get 5 additional bonuses. Here are my three favorite...

Here’s what you get when you enroll: The full Become a Technical Marketer course, forever Includes 100+ videos, lessons and assignments that take you by the hand and show you the exact steps you need to take to go from no technical skills to writing your own Python scrapers, SQL queries, editing your own landing pages and more (even if you are starting from scratch). - Total value: $1,200.. Private Technical Marketing Community: This is where 100+ students are already helping each other, sharing new hacks and the results of campaigns they’re running. Additional Personal Skype Call: Anyone who purchases before the close of enrollment today will get one additional call with us to discuss how to implement any technical marketing ideas you have, or just discuss growth strategy. Even better... The course (and all bonuses) are backed by a 30-day mandatory refund policy, meaning if you buy the course and don’t get serious results, I require that you request a refund. I’ll refund you 100% of your cost. No questions asked. So all the risk is on us. As it should be... Try Become a Technical Marketer today (enroll here). I’ve talked to several folks today who were on the fence. Here is what I suggest... Grab the $97-per-month plan and hustle hard for your first 30 days. If you don’t get MAJOR results, you aren’t going to hurt my feelings by asking for a refund. It’s on me. If it doesn’t produce, you shouldn’t pay me. Try Become a Technical Marketer today (enroll here) Still have questions? Here are some of the most asked questions (and my answer). Will this course continue to be updated? And will I get free access to future versions? Yes! This is THE flagship product of Programming for Marketers. It will be updated on a regular basis. All updates are free, forever. How much more is in the course vs. what you already put in your free email lessons or Udemy course? Think of our Udemy courses or email course as two chapters in a book, and the Become a Technical Marketer course as being an entire college class. The course goes into MUCH more detail, with use cases, examples, checklists and video tutorials on every single strategy.

LAUNCH EMAIL #5 - NAT ELIASON, BECOME A TECHNICAL MARKETER [3/4]
Justin & Nat
to me Email lessons are flat. Singularly focused on tactics. The course is dynamic and specifically engineered to teach you multiple technical skills, not just a few (really cool) technical marketing hacks. What if I’m literally starting from step 0? Zero technical knowledge whatsoever. Yes! The entire first module is about the basics of programming, software and web tech. It’s specifically engineered to take a COMPLETE NEWBIE and show the exact steps you need to go from zero to technically skilled. Can I afford this right now? At the end of the day that’s a question you have to answer. However, I can tell you that the skills taught in this course got me a $67k salary hike inside of a year. The pricing model is specifically designed to enable beginners to get started without breaking the bank. If you’re in massive credit card debt or facing severe financial hardship, DON’T buy this course. But I will challenge you on one thing.... Instead of thinking about how much ANY item costs, ask yourself how much does it cost in relation to how much it makes you. For example, if you take a college class that costs $1,000 and as a result you can go out the next week and make $10,000 in income, would you pay for it? Absolutely! It’s not about the bottom-line cost; it’s about the return on that investment. Use the 30-day refund policy to your advantage. Grab the cheaper option. Work your face off. And if, for whatever reason, it doesn’t work for you, I’ll make you get a refund. How much time will this take to complete the course? Great question! The course is self-paced. Once you complete one lesson, you can move on to the next. Each module starts by giving you a recommended time to work per day. From there you can work as long and hard as you like. However, if you don’t have enough time or if life just happens, you can slow down and take your time. ...

S COURSE LAUNCH ST RAT E GY
We know that every course and business is different. However, at Teachable, we have created a proven framework that ANYONE can use to run a successful course launch. This method comes from the analysis of thousands of course launches. It comprises two phases:
EDUCATION
LAUNCH
PHASE
PHASE
E D U C AT I O N In the education phase, you’re essentially warming up your list - you're familiarizing yourself with the audience and getting them thinking about your product's topic and the pain points it solves. Your goal is to generate demand for what you’re teaching by educating, creating an understanding of your product, increasing a need for the benefit AND build trust through high-quality content. You should send:
• Targeted blog posts
• Invitations to webinars
• Videos content
• Group coaching
• Any type of content that shows students that you have the expertise necessary to solve their problem
This education phase can last 0-14 days depending on how long you want to warm up your list before launching. You should be sending an amazing piece of content about every 2-3 days.

S COURSE LAUNCH ST RAT E GY
LAUNCH The Crazy 8 Launch Strategy Here at Teachable, we call our signature email sequence the Crazy 8 Launch Strategy. Over 8 days you’re going to send a strategic set of emails that build anticipation, excitement and urgency that effectively urge people to buy.
Day 1 Course teaser On your first email you’re going to tease out the course and build excitement. Let people know that you’re creating a course, what it’s about and that you’ll be opening it soon so they should pay attention to their email. Use phrases like “I’ll share the fun details later.” “The excitement is killing me.” “I’ve been working hours on this for you.” Keep upbeat and positive and generate excitement.
Day 2 “What’s in the course” email In this email you going to describe what’s in your course. Make sure to write everything from a “sales angle” - this simply means empathizing with your readers and talking about the final benefits not features. Tell what’s in your course. Explain the various modules and takeaways and build up the value of your “bonus content.” At the end, tell your students that your course will become available to buy tomorrow.
Day 3 “Course opens” On your first email you’re going to tease out the course and build excitement. Let people know that you’re creating a course, what it’s about and that you’ll be opening it soon so they should pay attention to their email. 62 | teachable.com
Use phrases like “I’ll share the fun details later.” “The excitement is killing me.” “I’ve been working hours on this for you.” Keep upbeat and positive and generate excitement.

S COURSE LAUNCH ST RAT E GY
Day 4 FAQ email This email doesn’t sound as fun and exciting to write, but it’s going to save you A LOT of time in the long run. In this email you want to answer the logistical questions about your course: How long do they have to buy? How long will they have access? Is there a money back guarantee?
Are there payment plans?
Are you dripping content?
Who is this course right for?
How much time does it take?
Some people are probably on the fence about buying because they might have some of those questions, so receiving the answer is likely to push them to buy.
63 | teachable.com
Day 5 Surprise bonus email You’re going to offer an additional incentive to get people to buy now. You’re going to throw in an additional piece of content that’s a “surprise” that everyone will get for free if they buy now. Build excitement. Explicitly say you’re giving a surprise not mentioned on your sales page. And make that surprise banging! It should be some kind of valuable bonus content (like a workbook, consulting, a free tool) or a limited-time discount. Whatever it is, make sure it’s valuable.
Day 6 “Thank you” & social proof email At this point, you’ve been selling hard for 5 days, so it’s time to be a little grateful and say thanks to your people. And hopefully your launch has gone well - the money has come in and you have a lot to be thankful for! Make sure to thank everyone for reading your emails and being part of your launch. Write from the heart and in your voice. Say “I never expected this...” and include testimonials where people rave about your course. This kind of language also builds social proof. It shows that people have bought your course and are happy with it and you may even bring in a few additional sales here.

S COURSE LAUNCH ST RAT E GY
Day 7 Logic + course closing email At this point, your launch is almost over. You’re probably a bit exhausted, but hopefully excited by the amount of money you’ve made. In this email, you’re going to say that your course is closing. Build a logical argument for why it make sense to buy now, reference the surprise bonus and build an urgency around getting the course before it’s too late.
Day 8 “Last chance” email series This day has the potential to be your most profitable day. Anyone on edge is going to either buy your course now or not at all. That’s why you want to finish strong and send 3 emails. Email 1 - send at 9:00am: Tell your list that today is the LAST day to get the course and emphasize why you must close your doors and at what time. Email 2 - 3:00-4:00pm: Send a midday reminder that cart is closing, how thankful you are and how wonderful the course launch has been. Email 3 - 1 hour before cart closes: Last chance: This is a very quick email outlining that this is the last chance to get the course, it’s going away, NOW!

6 BLACK FRIDAY / CYBER MONDAY EMAILS Why are Black Friday / Cyber Monday emails important? I know what you’re thinking. SO many businesses send Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals and your small online course business stands no chance against Amazon or Walmart. If you don’t participate, you’ll be missing out on a pie so massive, not even the biggest companies can eat it on their own (especially because you own an online business.) Here’s a couple of facts you might want to consider:
• Thanksgiving/Black Friday/Cyber Monday online sales reached $7.4 billion in 2015.
• Sales from limited online deals ed for 40% of that total.
That’s enough to get Black Friday and Cyber Monday their own section in this guide.

PRE-BLACK FRIDAY EMAIL - BRYAN HARRIS, VIDEOFRUIT
Keep your eyes out Friday… Bryan Harris
to me I hate Black Friday. When I was 11’ish, me and my brother stayed up until midnight, drove up to Wal-Mart and stayed in line until the PlayStation 2 came out to buy. I was dreaming of playing John Madden football and schooling my brother. But, 4 hours later, they ran out of PS2’s two people in front of us. I haven’t been to a store on Black Friday again. And I don’t plan on that changing anytime soon. I have a list of the most torturous things you could ask me to do... Go to Walmart Go shopping on Black Friday That’s what’s fun about the internetz. No stores needed. That’s why this year I decided to put together THE BEST BLACK FRIDAY DEAL IN INTERNET HISTORY™. It couldn’t be lame like these other offers you see. Not some 15% discount on a $10,000 course. It has to be INSANE. Otherwise, it’s just a cheap trick. RIght? So... I have an INSANE special for you on Friday. Keep your eyes out for it. I’ll send out an email LATE Thursday night. And you’ll have a pretty tight window to buy within. So, don’t be lame. Don’t miss it. If nothing else, pay attention to the offer and how we market it. We’ll share the results of the promo with everyone that buys. :) Chat Thursday night. -Bryan PS: Safe travels for anyone going out of town and such for the Thanksgiving Holiday.
