ACKNOWLEDGEMENT I would like to thank sincerely all the employees and the officers of DLW VARANASI for their help & during the vocational training. Despite their busy schedule, they took out time for us and explained to us, the various aspects of working of different plant shops from the production unit. I would like to express my deep sense of gratitude to Mr. Ram Janam Chaubey (Principal, TTC) for providing me such a great opportunity to do summer training in DLW Workshop. I would also like to thank my faculty , my college to encourage me to do summer training. Because of them only, I got this opportunity to go and learn in industrial environment. The experience learnt here will definitely help in future. And last but not the least, special thanks to my family who have ed me and helped me to complete my training without any difficulty. All the people are have played an important role without which it would have been very difficult to complete my training.

PREFACE The main objective of this summer training is to learn the practical aspects of works which we study. I am very grateful to DLW, who have given me this opportunity to learn here. Every year, DLW provides training to thousands of student who are doing B. Tech/Diploma. This training thus becomes very important as, it provides Industrial exposure to students. Students learn how to work, how to tackle problems that they face during working. Latest technologies, Upgraded machines, Better practical knowledge, better understanding and much more things that a student get to see and learn. Here I got an opportunity to do training in DLW.I have learn many things which I was unable to learn at college level. Some of which, I have tried to incorporate in this report. DLW is a locomotive manufacturing plant established in August 1961.In DLW various types of locomotives and their parts are manufactured. These locomotives are used by Indian Railway as well as exported to different countries. This manufacturing plant is divided into many departments of which workshop unit is directly responsible for all production. This workshop is also divided in many shops for proper working. Students get a chance to watch the working of different shop and understand different engineering concepts. Some of which have been tried to incorporate in this report.
