PathTrak System Requirements PathTrak Server/Client and WebView August 19, 2009
PathTrak Server System Requirements All functionality of the PathTrak Return Path Monitoring System is contained in the PathTrak Server Software CD. This includes PathTrak server software that is installed on the customer’s server machine. Client software for installation on work-stations, as well as software that is pushed from the server to all remote PathTrak elements is included on the CD. Electronic versions of all manuals are included. Separate from the physical package shipped to the customer is a central system license file that represents the purchased system configuration (single server with a quantity of floating clients and single or multiple remote HCUs). The central system license file is attached to the primary MAC address in the PathTrak server machine as recognized by the local area network (LAN).
PathTrak Server Network Requirements: IP assignments: Static IP address Minimum Connectivity: 100BaseT Fast Ethernet Recommended Connectivity: 1000BaseT Fast Ethernet Port Assignments: Ports 21 and 23 must be open from the server to the HCU (for telnet and ftp). Port 161 is also used in the server if the SNMP agent is running on the server. Port 161 is also used in the HCU for SNMP interaction (HCU SNMP is an optional feature). Ports 111, 135-139 and 445 must be open. There must be a minimum range of ports open from 900 - 8000.

PathTrak Client Software The client provides a interface to the PathTrak server (Master System Controller). Client software is typically installed on the server machine as well as remote workstations connected to the network. Since the software is controlled by “floating licenses”, it may be liberally distributed to anyone requiring access to the PathTrak system. The system sets up s to control who has client access to the system as well as asg various privileges. The central license file installed on the PathTrak server controls the quantity of clients actively logged into the system at any one time. s may view return spectrums as well as live monitoring views and performance history.
Recommended PathTrak Client Specifications: OS: – Microsoft Windows XP (Home or Professional) (Service Pack 2 or higher) – Microsoft Windows 2003 Server (Service Pack 2 or higher) – Microsoft VISTA (Business and Enterprise) Connectivity: 100BaseT Fast Ethernet RAM: 1 GB Available hard drive space: 10 GB Screen resolution: 1024x768 or higher
WebView Server Software The WebView server software can co-exist on the same PC hardware that is running the PathTrak server software, as long as the minimum PC requirements are met. WebView server software can also be installed on a separate PC from the PathTrak Server. WebView server software cannot be installed on the same PC as the Test Productivity Pack/FDM server software, but it can co-exist on the same PC running the PathTrak and TPP Client software. The PathTrak server must be V2.3 or higher. One PathTrak WebView server is required per PathTrak server.

PathTrak System Requirements PathTrak Server/Client and WebView August 19, 2009 Recommended Processor for PathTrak/WebView Combo Server: Pentium® Core 2 Duo or Core 2 Quad, > 2.5 GHz U with 4 to 6 GB RAM Recommended hard drive speed for stand alone WebView server: For faster performance, JDSU recommends a 7200 RPM SATA hard drive (3 MB/Sec) or faster Available hard drive space: The hard drive size is determined by the amount of data to be collected. Each RPM card requires approximately 5.6 MB of storage space for each day of 15-minute intervals. Multiplying 5.6 MB by the number of days that the data will be kept on hand (purge interval) gives an approximate hard drive size requirement. The default storage options require 174 MB per RPM card. For example: A 31-day purge interval (default setting) with 1 fully loaded HCU1500 (15 cards) requires 2.6 GB of hard drive space. 15 cards x 5.6 MB x 31 days = 2,604,000,000 or 2.6 GB
Recommended PathTrak/WebView Large Server Specifications: Recommended hard drive for large PathTrak/WebView combo server: Raid Array of 2 or more drives, 650 GB total disk space min (See note 1 for details) Note 1: Disk space requirements for a WebView Server with 2000 ports Days of history 1 14 31 90 180 365
