Consumer Rights & awareness about banking and insurance facilities for farmers
INTRODUCTON India is a agriculture based country but many of the farmers are not aware of their rights as well as their Duties. In this concern we the JNV Devarahalli, Davangere children have taken up a small Project in our neighboring village about “Consumer Awareness on Banking facilities and Crop Insurances”. So we met the gram Sabah and interacted with farmers and identified their unawareness facts about bank loans, Interest rate and crop insurance. Then our team tried to create awareness among the farmers through Role Play and Multimedia presentations on Consumer Awareness about Banking and Insurance schemes.
Problems of farmers Scarcity of SAFE drinking water. Unaware of agricultural insurance facilities to the farmers.
Unaware of banking facilities.
Lack of awareness on education.

We have gone on survey to our neighboring village Devarahalli on 19/11/2010 for collecting desired data in solving and caring their problems.First we met with Sh.Ranganath, (president of gram panchayat). And distributed our questions to of gram Sabah . Out of the responses to our questionnaire, we learnt that there are many illiterate people in the village. So we thought of educating them on the topic under discussion and to see that they will be benefited much out of it. INTERACTION WITH SYNDICATE BANK -Devarahalli DATE: 06/11/2010 We the team of this project along with guide visited syndicate bank on 06/11/2010 in our locality to know more about bank facilities to the farmers . The manager &the deputy manager interacted with us & given all information for all our queries. 1. What are the facilities your bank is providing to the farmers? Ans. A. Agriculture loan (development loan and crop loan), B.Buisness loan, C.Self employment loan, D.Vehicle loan,E.Pasturing loan , F.Animal husbandry loan, G.Educational loan, H.Cottage industry loan 2. Ans.A.agricultural loan up to 50,000 -9% interest in that 1% from subsidy from central government 1% from R.B.I. 1% from state government returns within 1 year ( enclosed separately)

Solutions for the problems Educating the villagers about consumer rights, through bank authorities as resource persons as a t venture. Conducting training programmes to the farmers at their village with the help of bank officials to give first hand information regarding agricultural credit, crop insurance, educational loan, self employment loan.
