Installation Guidelines For Conlit Firestop Systems The following information is given in good faith, but the method selected must ultimately be the decision of the contractor or responsible tradesman, having regard to the type and condition of the substrate to which the Conlit Firestop System 2 (also know as Conlit 100) is to be installed.

Please read the information below in conjunction with the attached drawings. This installation method statement is based upon Conlit Firestop System 2 being installed between up to 4 hours firestopping at the junctions of compartment walls and floors. The systems have been tested in accordance with BS 476: Part 20: 1987 (LPC - CC 82633, 10th July 1992). Solutions are illustrated for all walls from 400 kg/m3 density and include insulation criteria for concrete decks, composite decks and simple profiled sheeting. The range includes trapezoidal sections, rectangular blocks and strips sized for smaller dovetail apertures in nominated profiled decks. Conlit Firestop System 2 is a compressible product for rectangular voids, which will take of most building tolerances and uneven surfaces. A minimum 5%compression is required. Design and Installation The following installation requirements must be met in order to reliably achieve the stated fire resistances. 1. Single layer firestopping will always be preferred, with double layer methods limited to those occasions where building tolerances demand practicality.2 layers should be installed simultaneously. The height of void should not exceed the width of the Firestop. 3. Gaps associated with perimeter slab/ wall firestopping should be firestopped using Rockwool SP Firestop Slabs 4. Vertical expansion gaps may be firestopped with Conlit Firestop materials provided the compression levels are observed with due regard to building movement. 5. Installers may find simple smooth ‘slip-plates’ of benefit when installing Conlit Firestop materials across rough surfaces.
