LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE AND HEALTH VI 8:00 – 8:50 Palma 9:00 – 9:50 Felipe 9:50 – 10:40 Burgos 11:10 – 12:00 Mabini Prepared by: NHECEL E. PASCUA AUGUST 6, 2018(MONDAY)
I. Objectives: At the end of the 50 minute period, pupils should be able to: 1. Identify the different benefits of separating mixtures from the products in the community 2. Tell the benefits of separating mixture from the products in the community 3. Show interest during the discussion of the lesson. II. Subject Matter A. UNIT 1: MATTER B. Chapter: Practical benefits in separating mixtures C. Topics:
Benefits of sieving, magnetic separation, evaporation, decantation, filtration, distillation and sedimentation
D. Concepts: BENEFITS OF SEPARATING MIXTURE FROM PRODUCTS IN THE COMMUNITY Sieving It is easier to do, doesn't require too much knowledge because it is the traditional way of separating mixture. you can separate solid to another solid. you can do sieving and use sieve for cooking. In construction workers sieving is very important to separate big rocks to sand
Magnetic Separation Can be useful in mining iron as it is attracted to a magnet Magnets helps the process in the industries to remove metal contaminants from product streams Evaporation By the use of evaporation the sea water can produce salt The evaporation of perspiration/sweats cools our bodies Use this process to separate or create solid particles from liquids. Decantation We can remove dirts or chemicals. And have a purified and clean decant or liquid such as water, wine or another liquid. Filtration This is used also to separate the solid particles from the liquid. By doing this, we can create or make medicines through getting the nutrient from a substance. Distillation One of those methods which use the difference in boiling points as a means of separating different substances Clean final product can be achieved using a single process only. Simple distillation is used to purify water for home use, schools or hospitals if there is no bottled water or clean tap water available. Sedimentation This process involves letting an insoluble substance (a substance that will not dissolve in a solvent) settle at the bottle of a solvent.

G. Materials
Powerpoint presentation, Short Video Clip
H. Value
Be responsible
III. Learning Activities A. Daily Routine 1. Prayer 2. Greetings 3. Checking of Attendance B. Review Direction: Read the questions carefully and answer the questions that follows. 1. Is a process of using net or screens that allow smaller substances to through the holes of the net or screen. 2. Is a process that makes use of a filtering medium such as a filter paper, cheesecloth, sieve, or strainer. 3. Is a process that involves heating, allowing one component to completely change into a gaseous phase while leaving the other component as a residue. 4. Is a process of using a magnet that attracts substances that contain iron, separating it from the other parts of the mixture. 5. . It is the combination of two or more substance.
C. Checking of Assignment D. Developmental Activities 1. Engage
1.1 Motivation Watch the short clip video that talks about the benefits in separating of mixtures from the products in the community 1.2 Raising of Problem o What are the benefits of separating mixtures from products in community?
2. Explore o Why do we need to separate mixtures?
3. Explain o How it can be useful in the communtiy?
4. Expand/Elaborate
4.1 ing the concept
4.2 Application o Tell the benefits of separating mixture that can be found in the community 5. Evaluation Direction: True or False. Write T is the statement is true and F if its false. 1. Magnets helps the process in the industries to remove metal contaminants from product streams 2. By the use of decantation we can remove dirts or chemicals. And have a purified and clean decant or liquid such as water, wine or another liquid. 3. By the use of filtration the sea water can produce salt 4. Sieving is useful for cooking 5. Clean final product can be achieved using a single process only. IV. Assignment Read and study about separating of mixtures and the benefits of separating mixtures for the exam.
