The trust runs modern well equipped eye hospital, an Eye Bank linked with ORBIS International having highest cornea retrieval rate in the region; SURGICAL TRAINING CENTRE recognized by ICO (International Council of Ophthalmology); Postgraduate Teaching Institute for ophthalmology (Like D.N.B. & D.O.M.S.); Examination centre for ICO assessments, an Institute for Diploma in Ophthalmic technician course. Moreover the institute contributes significantly to the National Program of prevention & control of Blindness in the region, to the Research in Ophthalmology & also to the Medical Education. After screening, needy patients are brought to the base hospital for surgeries that are done Free of Cost. Institute takes care of Transport, Stay, Food, Preop Preparation, Operation, Operative material like IOL, visco, post operative medication for three months & reaching them back home. Patients do not have to pay anything. In this way,50 to 60% of the total patients are treated free of cost, as camp patients. The trust also contributes to the VISION 2020 program by conducting free eye check up surveys in schools, identifying problems in young children & treating them. On an average per year 7000 surgeries are done & over 52000 patients examined at this institute every year. Public awareness campaigns on EYE DONATION - like lectures, slide shows, public forums, essay competitions, fashion shows etc. are frequently held. Eye Bank & Cornea Transplantation Centre : Mahatme Eye Bank is a member of EYE BANK ASSOCIATION OF INDIA & runs HCRP (Hospital Cornea Retrieval Program) in association with ORBIS International (an NGO) and has maximum corneal retrieval & keratoplasty rate in the region. Eye Bank offers services of Eye Donation Counselor & provides cornea free of cost on demand to the eye surgeons. One very vital aspect of learning Phaco in two weeks is that you need to be an ECCE surgeon who is in touch with surgery. If you are well versed with ECCE, our team of trainers will take all efforts to make you a confident Phaco Surgeon. Our specially designed STEPWISE Short-term training includes training & practice on goat's eyeball and hands on training on “many” cases. You can get more number of cases if you are a quick learner.
