BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
A Gymnasium is a room or building equipped for indoor sports. It is a kind of recreational sports facility considered in a secondary school which focused on preparing students to enter a university for advanced academic study, physical education programs, sports competition, and many other recreational uses for a number of years. Gymnasiums are virtually in all universities and high school, as well as almost all middle schools and elementary school. These facilities are used for physical education, intramural sports, and school gatherings. For the past 14 years, there is a 15% increase in the student population of Juan G. Macaraeg national high school (JGMNHS) and it is still expected to increase because of the implementation of K-12. In addition to that, school gatherings and events are held in the social hall of the school, wherein a lot of students are found drifting beside the social hall of the school since it doesn’t have room for all students. Furthermore, open spaces and pathways are used by the students for their physical education activities and sports competitions thus, they are directly exposed to sun as well as cancelling their pe subject during rainy season. With this regard, a gymnasium is proposed within the school. The fund will come from landbank as a loan. The money from the from rental stalls, gymnasium rentals, church seminars, and student development fund can be used to pay the of the loan. With a gymnasium, there will be enough accommodation for all the students and they will be a lot more comfortable. Above all, it helps the student to maintain and improve their national competitiveness by means of a much improved education and facilities.

Educational facilities are considered indispensable to a school. The availability of an acceptable building is an important requirement for its operation. They do not only provide housing for the school but also serve as a facilitating agent for all the educational facilities that take place in a school. Thus, the proposed school gymnasium at Juan G. Macaraeg National High school will provide a safe, secured, adequate and satisfactory educational facility that will the development, teaching and learning process of the students and ultimately improve the quality of basic education. The proposed school gymnasium will benefit the school during school events, gatherings and sports competition. Through this gymnasium, they will no longer rent facilities outside the school to conduct their events and also students will no longer be exposed to direct sunlight during their intramurals and physical education activities. With this school gymnasium, the school will have better venue and accessibility to held programs. In of the upliftment of the living standards of people, the school gymnasium having its rental stalls will provide employment to the local municipality of binalonan. It will also make available shelter and a safe place for the townspeople in times of calamities. And being part of the society, the gymnasium will also contribute to the improvements and development of the town.
PROJECT SUMMARY
A. JUAN G. MACARAEG NHS Gymnasium The name of the proposed gymnasium would be “JUAN G. MACARAEG NHS Gymnasium” derived from the name of the school which the planned project will be located. B. JUAN G. MACARAEG NHS Gymnasium, Barangay Canarvacanan, Binalonan, Pangasinan Juan G. Macaraeg National High School is a secondary level school which produces well prepared students to enter a university. Since there is an increased population of the school for the past 14 years, the school is in need of a much improved educational facilities or place to accommodate students for their Physical Education Activities, Recreational Activities, Sports Competitions and other school events. Given that the proposed gymnasium will be constructed inside the school premises, it will be sited at Barangay Canarvacanan, Binalonan Pangasinan along Mac Arthur Highway where JUAN G. NHS is located.
C. DESCRIPTIVE DEFINITION OF THE PROJECT Nowadays, the availability of an acceptable building is an important requirement for school’s operation, that is why educational facilities such as Gymnasium are considered indispensable to a school. This realization lead the government to address the need of every school to fulfil the need of a better venue and accessibility to held programs. The principal, through the school saw urgent need of a facility to house their school events and physical education activities in the face of the common concern and interest. This project is a result of thorough research, extensive consultation and collaboration with expert individuals. The major goal of this project is to help provide a convenient environment during their Physical Education Activities and school events that is conducive to effective teaching and learning. As a result, better opportunities will come.
D. PROJECT LONG RANGE OBJECTIVES The proposed Gymnasium at Juan G. Macaraeg National high school has a capacity of 2000 students. Because of the growing student population, it is expected that for the next 10 years, volume of students will increase by 15% and that expansion will be necessary. Seating capacity will increase by 15% by providing a second level of bleachers to accommodate more students. It is also expected that the Gymnasium will be known to the athletes of Binalonan and neighboring town and that it would be a practicing area for them. But most importantly, this project is expected to provide a safe, secured and adequate place for the townspeople and neighboring town in times of calamities. E. FEASIBILITY CRITERIA Educational Facilities are valuable assets of the school that have to be given priority attention in of its establishment, development, and maintenance. The feasibility study is about educational facility which will be a major system of the high school to enhance the learning capabilities of the students for the maximum development of their potentials, skills, talents and to become God-loving, law-abiding and responsible citizens of this country. Also, commercial stalls are managed to include in the plan to generate income. Thus the criteria for the feasibility study are: to provide comfortable and proper learning environment for the students, to increase the income of JUAN G. NHS that will enhance the socio-economic feature of the school.
F. HIGHLIGHTS OF THE PROJECT From the school ’s office, there is an increased young population that enrolled at their alma matter, Juan G. Macaraeg National High School, this school year and for the past 14 years and in all probability, it will continue to increase. As momentary solution for this matter, the school constructed temporary rooms but it doesn’t have room for all students when significant events are held. Also, one-third of the students’ population have daily gym classes and open space and pathways are used for their physical education activities thus, they are directly exposed to sun in addition to pushing back the schedule for their subject during rainy season. To take in hand this problem, a school gymnasium is proposed having a capacity of 2000. From Feasibility Study state to construction of the project, it will take 56 weeks and 3 weeks after the construction and building inspection is completed, the gymnasium will be operated. The fund will come from the landbank as a loan. The money from the Rental Stalls, Gymnasium Rentals, Church Seminars, and Student Development fund can be used to gradually pay the loan. The total project cost is PHP 16,212,136.38. 3% of the project cost will be allocated to mobilization and demobilization; 3% percent of the project cost will be allocated to contingency cost; 21.1% of the project cost will be allocated to labor cost ; 60.2% of the project cost will be allocated to material cost, 2.2% will be allocated to professional fee during feasibility study. and lastly, 10.5% of the total project cost will be allocated to tax.

The materials to be used in the construction of the gymnasium will be available locally within the municipality or within Pangasinan. FINANCIAL FEASIBILITY
The proposed school gymnasium at Juan G. Macaraeg NHS has an estimated project cost of PHP 16,212,136.38. The annual net income is PHP 1,509,501.46 and the Return of Investment (ROI) rate is at 9.31% with payback period of eleven years. SOCIO-ECONOMIC FEASIBILITY
The proposed school gymnasium will provide employment for the local population of Binalonan. Above all, it will provide a safe, secured, adequate and satisfactory physical learning environment that will help contribute to the attainment of quality education for every student. MANAGEMENT FEASIBILITY
During the construction, the proposed project will be managed by the project engineer. Skilled workers to be employed will be coming from the municipality or within Pangasinan. They will be working 8 hours a day and 6 days a week and will be paid accordingly on the minimum Wage Order No. RB1-14.
RECOMMENDATION
There are many different activities that take place in a gymnasium, particularly educational activities. Juan G. Macaraeg national high school (JGMNHS) doesn’t have a facility to held such activities, that’s why constructing the jgmnhs gymnasium is a valuable asset of the school that have to be given priority attention to enhance the learning capabilities of the students for the maximum development of their potentials, skills, talents and to become god-loving, law-abiding, value-laden and responsible citizens of this country, thus, construction of the proposed gymnasium should start immediately. It is also recommended that during construction, works involving clearing and grubbing of the area or any activity that may affect the concentration of the students during class hours should be scheduled after class and during weekends to avoid noise pollution.
