Renal Disease Control Program (REDCOP) The Renal Disease Control Program (REDCOP) is the office in-charge of implementing the NKTI's public health projects on the prevention and control of renal and other related diseases. It plans, implements and monitors projects for research, advocacy, training, service and quality assurance. REDCOP's activities are done mostly on a national scale through its network of Regional Coordinators throughout the country. The REDCOP also isters and manages the Philippine Renal Disease Registry (PRDR), which include the following: the End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) Registry composed of the Hemodialysis, Peritoneal Dialysis & Transplant Registries, and the Chronic Kidney Disease Registry composed of Biopsy. The same Office has been tasked to operate the Philippine Organ Donation Program (PODP) of the Department of Health (DOH). PODP sets up policies, guidelines and ethical principles whereby the act of organ donation and conduct of transplantation from living non-related organ donors (LNRDs) shall be managed and regulated. This Program s a rational, equitable, ethical, and accessible renal health care program in the country. A huge database on completed and ongoing researches on nephrology, urology & transplant is being maintained by REDCOP and is utilized for planning & policy making. This database is open to other s upon request, using the NKTI's guidelines & policies on data request.

Role Thursday, 17 June 2010 SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union (17 June) --- About 35 Renal Disease Control Program (REDCOP) coordinators in Region I convene for a two-day consultative workshop on June 15-16,2010 at Brentwood Apartelle, Baguio City. Purposely, the meeting aimed at coming up with the project implementation review as to where the project has gone in the region over the years and at the same time, to plan for developmental activities for the remaining months of the year. “It is important to note where the project REDCOP has gone in the region over several years of its implementation vis-à-vis several trainings of medical personnel along with the partnership with some concerned regional line agencies, private organizations and non-government organizations,” Regional REDCOP Coordinator Joslyn Bautista of the Department of Health Region 1 said. The activity started with the presentation of the region’s REDCOP coordinator Joslyn Bautista about the updates on the status of REDCOP and the Philippine and Regional Renal Disease Registry where it maintained to be one of the top 10 killer disease until now. It was also noted that from 2001 to 2008, there were about 10,052 recorded dialysis patient nationwide

excluding those who died due to financial burden of going thru constant dialysis. Accomplishments, issues and concerns in so far as the implementation of the project is concerned of the different REDCOP coordinators of the different provincial/city/municipal health offices, identified academe, the Department of Education and the Philippine Information Agency were also presented and commented by the group. Planning session covering the remaining months of the year followed which was presented to the group for further enhancement. To further strengthen vigor to serve, Bautista designed a personality development session touching personal qualities, values, attitudes that coordinators must possess which was presented by Fr. Jonathan Bitoy, CFM. Fr. Bitoy stressed that in our journey to the road of life, we come to meet people that will stretched us out but always that living in harmonious with people we love and committed to serve for the people matters most.
